The Ceph use BAIT TACTICS?

Post » Thu Oct 14, 2010 12:10 am

happened to me twice so far.

I walk in on a stalker, cloak, walk closer, armor up and blast the first shotgun shell into it.....and the bastard runs away. I follow it for a good 200 meters and from nowhere three more squids jump out at me as if they were waiting for me and the stalker turns around to fight happy in the knowledge he lead me into a trap.....

awesome

Yeah, people have been saying the AI is retarded (sometimes they do mess up badly), but there are plenty of moments where it really shines.

The AI only has some pathfinding issues and that is with cell soldiers, squids are usually much better....

still awesome moments

The console versions AI is extraordinarily dumb though. All my awesome AI moments have been on PC. Console AI seems to want to hump walls and run in circles.

Honestly in my playthrough I have never noticed the AI behaving incorrectly (PC). The only "problem" i encountered was when I killed a solider on a roof or a watchtower (very early on), his gun dropped down (business end first) and started humping the floor. But that is a physics issue.

To be honest I'm on PC and I have found MANY soldiers just walking into a wall and getting completely stuck in there, but never seen a Ceph doing it I hope they fix it at some point.

From my playthrough I only had an AI issue once, which was a CEPH that walked into a wall. The rest has been fine. Some AI has been pretty standard, but I've also seen some very nice flanking, and I've been pinned down strategically several times. (PC & Posthuman).

Well, here is what I seen, PC version:

- CELL and Ceph walking in wall
- Ceph ignoring cloak - shooting at me from ~50 meters even though I was cloacked though entire path open - this is for both: grunt and this 2-legs Mech
- Ceph Mech seems to be automagically always aware of player location and always picks it as a total priority target
- Cell soldiers humpling each other
- Cell soldiers ignoring player
- Ceph ignoring Cell shooting at him, Marines ignoring Ceph Mech
- Caph Heavy ignoring player shooting it from distance, just waiting calm till death
- Marine running circles
- Soldiers getting stuck on small objects
- Soldiers shooting in total darkness (they don't have night vision googles damn it, so why I'm getting head-shot?! - power station ground level, Prism)
- Another Prism level bug - a building with the bad-boss guy on top using Gauss rifle, you go behind the building and shoot one guy on a platform - each next dude that comes to check the body comes alone and stands in EXACT same location, so you can shoot like... 7 guys one after another creating huge pile of bodies. AI does not react differently if it see multiple dead mean - should bring reinforcements, right? Lots of it from many directions, not just go to the pile.
- Ceph ignoring cloacked player even though it looks at him while walking by 1 meter next to player (if it'd walk straight towards me it'd react)
- Ceph not knowing what to do if player is beyond cover they cannot reach - they can just sit there still and you shoot them like a ducks. (The problem is also in that they cannot reach some locations, and that they don't use ranged guns, even if there are bosses that shoot these light-bombs)
- Dude in anti-contamination suit mastvrbating (thought I guess it's an easter egg as you only see his shadow)

These are bugs I've seen during SINGLE gameplay.
Sorry but... whoever works in Crytek AI Quality Assurance team should be fired right away.

Your copy of the game must be ****, bro.

Even on my pitiful Xbox, the AI is flawless. I've seen 2 enemies walking into walls, that is it.

Hehehe, yea, I guess so, cause right now Multiplayer also doesn't work for me, so it's not that only AI have problems.

But seriously - on these rare moments when AI works - it can be really good comparing to other FPS games I've plaid. They actually seem to understand what flanking is and how to surprise player - I like it!
(that's on Veteran difficulty)

But the amount of bugs makes me worried it ever will be brought to fully functional level by patches, so that people would really be able to enjoy all it's features.

The story you described doesn't work with me. If the alien is fleeing he is not a threat. You don't need to chase him.
Each time they do that, i shoot them in the back because they flee uncovered...

Does some of you have tried to own a big alien with the nova? I did it on veteran, you just have to turn around him at close contact...he is too slow to get you ^^

I've not noticed many bugs as such, it's just that the AI seems really stupid.

Ceph AI behaves very differently from human (which is a great thing) so it's more difficult to spot bugs with it.

Really? lol :D
I used JAW and stealth - shots in the back of the head seem to hurt him more. Alternative is sniping the head - requires some time though - but he looks silly without head armor! :D
