Personally, i liked the citys like the houses. The feeling of a seperated cell seems almost a unique trademark to bethesda. Its cool walkinginto a warm colored-cozy log cabin, knowing your safe form the harsh weather of skyrim and any wild creatures that may be hiding in its forests/mountains. It would be more realistic to have an open city, and i wouldnt mind, but i like the feeling of being in a temporary safe-haven with its own individual things going on. Like, the mental transition from worrying about wolves, to worrying abotu pickpockets. Worrying about wolves and pickpockets at the same time seems a bit clausterphobic in my opinion. Plus, although it would be hilarious, the distraction of villager being attacked by an ice ogre that just so happened to be following me for miles.
