My WD Black HDD is getting up there in age, I am worried that it is ready to fail any day now. I haven't noticed any problems or anything. I see that newegg has this on sale

Is the Red series any good? I don't like that it says Intellipower instead of how many rpm...
So which graphics card surpasses the other in performance?
The Amd r9 270x or the Nvidia Gtx 760?
It looks like the GTX just barely surpasses the 270x in a couple areas.
I have a feeling if you compare the two side by side, you wouldn't notice a difference.

Almost 20% faster is definitely noticeable. So, however is the £40 extra for the 760, especially when there is next to no difference between them in certain games, such as http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2013/10/08/amd-280x-270x-260x-reviews/7.
NAS Storage is a system consisting of 1 or more HDD's, an Ethernet connection and an OS. This system connects to your network, allowing those on the network to access and share files from a central location,
along with other helpful things like:
You can share files
If you have multiple computers in your home, there has probably been many times when you wanted to have more files on more than one computer (for example documents, music, videos, photos, etc).
That's the main reason that a NAS drive solves. A NAS is a HDD that's accessible by all the computers in your home. NAS is easy to store and access files from it. (just drag and drop)
For media streaming
If you have a HD media player for example, and connect it to your TV, it can play photos, movies and music from a hard drive connected to it or take files from your NAS drive.
So you can store all of your media in that Nas HDD, and access it from anywhere in your home. !!!
You can even have a media player in every room of your house and have them all simultaneously to access files from your one NAS HDD.
That means you don’t need to constantly move drives around your house or keep copies of the same content. !!!
It supports Remote Access, Printer Sharing, and Backup (It installs a backup software, and backs up your files and folders on your computer.)
-------------
So, the benefits for you using a NAS HDD over regular HDD's
VERDICT:
You can use a WD red without problem as a desktop drive.(as it has a better error recovery control system) ***
However those are low power consumption HDD's . !!!! IntelliPower1 has a fine-tuned balance of spin speed mechanism, meaning the RPM's are variable based on the drive's use. !!!
Actually NAS drives are used for the above reasons i described earlier. !!!!
*** When a NAS specific drive reads a sectors it does not only read the data, but also reads the header and a checksum.
If there is an error then the drive will try to read the sector again. How often it will try to do that, it depends on the drive and the firmware. !!!
1 Accordingly to WD, you can switch it off, from your Windows power management control within the operating system.
The option is located in the Control Panel. Click on the icon labeled Power Management. Set the Turn off hard disks option to Never.
-------------------
Just buy a regular HDD drive. (WD blue or even a Black one, or an equivalent Seagate one.)
HOPE THIS HELPS !!!
It depends on the game really !!!

For the most part. Fx6300, GTX760, ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0, 8GB RAM, 225 GB SSD, EVGA 600B.
For some reason MOST of my problems were solved just by moving my bass amp away from my PC.
The only two problems I'm having with it anymore are the screens brightness seems to fade in and out at random. Keep in mind that I am plugged into a TV. Also when I'm playing a game sometimes my wireless keyboard will stop working very well, lag and the such.
Does anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: Right after posting this I realized that the brightness issue maybe my TVs problem and not my PC. As of right now it turns out that it was and it's no longer a problem. As for the keyboard lag when playing games, I still can't account for that.
Have you another set of batteries to try your wireless keyboard ???
Yeah, I've tried that. I've already gone through three of them in a couple days. The first two logitechs I got flat out didn't work and now the Microsoft I'm using works perfectly when I'm using Microsoft Word or typing on the internet. But when I'm playing a game it only seems to work half of the time.
See here: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/help/support/troubleshooting/keyboard/wireless-bluetooth
Thanks again for all of your help, I super appreciate it.
It didn't work. But on the bright side I believe it is the very last problem I'm having with my desktop.
I believe it's the wireless adapter interfering with the wireless keyboard. But the thing is that it was a mouse and keyboard combo and the mouse always 100 percent of the time works even when the keyboard doesn't. I've exchanged the keyboard a few times with lightly better luck than before. I'm just confused and I cant figure out why none of my keyboards are working?
I forgot to mention, never buy a Microsodt wireless keyboard. Having a tendency to break very early. That applies for the keyboard not the mouse.
The best wireless you ca get for a reasonable price is from Logitech. !!!

I have a RAID-10 array with 4 of those Caviar Red drives and I like them a lot. They're not going to perform as well as a Black, though. They're made for use in storage appliances or RAID arrays. They can (supposedly) handle more heat and up-time, as well as being compatible with the type of Error Recovery Control used by RAID controllers (which is important if you're using the drives with an enterprise RAID controller or in certain types of desktop arrays). They're not slow, but there are better choices if you're looking for a fast drive that you're not using in a RAID array.
Ideally, I would like to spend as little as $1000. I don't want to spend that much and I was told upgrading a pc is less expensive.
My dad actually got it for me and told me it was referbished. Thankfully, I found the OS disk that rwesolves the issue and now I have windows genuine. Thats one problem down.
Upgrading a PC is only less expensive than building a new one if the PC that you're upgrading provides you with the option for worthwhile upgrades. As it is, the upgrades for your current PC wouldn't really be sufficient for modern games and you would only end up spending more money long-term, as these upgrades would only enable you to put off getting a new PC for a little while.
-Regurading the dual core processor, are you suggesting that this should be upgraded? THe rwqurements seem to suggest that its okay (I belive CPU speed required is 2.0GHz to run the game and my core processor is like 6 points above that)
-The video card, my current one needs to be replaced then. What are some good deals for a video card upgrade?
Not sure how to take it with this motherboard thing. Is it something that can be easily replaced? And what you mean by power supply and how should i increase RAM Size?
And yes, this is a Dell PC, (Not sure if its optiplex).
Any good deals on a gaming laptop that can run modern games? Getting a new PC is a no go since the desktop I am using was recently brought.
The motherboard is essentially what all of the individual components plug into, and it could accept a newer video card. However, the problem is that the processor is so outdated that it's going to limit performance anyway. The bottom line is that if you're getting a new motherboard, a new processor, a new video card, new memory, and a new power supply, you're essentially getting the equivalent of a new computer (with the exception of a case, hard drive, and DVD drive).
And I wouldn't get a gaming PC, especially if you're limiting yourself to $1000. You're going to spend way more on a gaming laptop than you would on a desktop with comparable specs. Your best bet is to either go for a new computer or save your money.
