Got an odd request here. My father found a Dell Ultra Sharp LCD monitor at the local recycling depot the other day, and lo and behold, he brought it home and it works. Thing is, it missing the stand. Any one know where I might find a replacement? I believe the model is 1702FP

What PC model do you have? What brand and how many Watts is the Power Supply Unit? The 4670 and 4650 are decent low powered cards that are pretty cheap.

You would have to take the cover off and look at the label on the power supply. But since it's a consumer HP, it's a near certainty that it is a cheap 300W Bestec. It is only good for the lowest-power graphics cards. ATI 4650, 4670, or 5670; nVidia GT 240. Those should pull high settings, no problem. Even then, if your budget runs to enough for both a graphics card and a power supply, a new power supply would be prudent. Nothing big, mind you; an Antec Earthwatts 380D would be plenty.

Likely not. The Radeon 4650 cards consume very little power, so you should be fine.

So I came to my girlfriend's house right after reinstall Win7 Pro on my laptop. Wireless at home was working fine, same with wired. While I am here they just have wireless, my laptop will connect tot he network but then say no internet access. I tried a winsock reset, releasing and renewing the IP address, and I let Windows reinstall my wireless drivers with no luck. I did double check the password which is correct, I even had her type it in, and I am assuming Windows chose the encryption type correctly when I went to connect but I tried a couple different things for that as well.

What else should I try? I really would like to get a connection on my laptop, but as it stands I have to use hers. It normally wouldn't be a big deal, but she is napping alot so I need something to do.

Since it can run FO3 and FONV is using the same engine, any card that can play FO3 can play FONV. I would go with the 4670 or the 4650. Preferably the 4670 though, as Tig pointed out in another thread, the 4670 is almost twice as powerful as the 4650.

Eh. There's quite a few better CPU coolers for the same or less. People just like the H50 because OMG WATER COOLING.

Get a coolermaster hyper 212+.

EDIT: the only reason to get it is if you don't have room for a large air cooler.

So, my gaming laptop died it's final death earlier this week and I've been on the lookout for a new computer since. A desktop computer this time, since that laptop gave me nothing but trouble. I think I've found a very good one for a decent price. However, since I don't know that much about computers and am always totally paranoid about buying expensive stuff I've decided to ask some advice here, to check if there isn't a part in it which is absolutely horrible and will blow up my pc within the month.

I have an H50 on my 3.8 OC'd q9550. The CPU was always warmer than other q9550, even at stock. I quite like it, and Corsair is a top notch company. (In the warranty department, they don't physically make the cooler. Coolit does.)

I like it as mentioned in the above edit, it's better than having a huge tower mucking up the interior of my case. (Though my old PC has such a HSF.) Not "OMG, water cooling"! If I was going to do that, I'd do it right. (Aim for the OMG factor.)

Helps I got mine for $10 bucks when I bought my case, but I'd buy another in heart beat if/when needed.

If so, the 1360x768 why. You need a display option that supports 1080 signals. My TV is fully HD (1080) I think it's a crime to call anything but 1080 HD, but that is me. It leads to confusion. I almost bought an HDTV that was only capable of 720. That would have svcked!! 1080 looks so sweet on a 40"+ screen.

It's both actually, almost the same as this http://www.lg.com/uk/it-products/monitors/LG-tv-monitor-M197WD.jsp, with the exception it has an built in digital decoder for the digital TV signals used in Finland, and only one HDMI connection. The manual suggest it supports 1080p mode trough HDMI, also it reports using it while PS3 is running.

Edit: yup, i found DVI-HDMI converter from my graphics card's box, and it indeed goes upto 1920*1080 trough that connection.

So now i need to buy another cord. The only HDMI is used by my PS3, but the TV also has component video input trough which it also supports 1080 mode, and luckily my computer's video card has a component video output. ...i think...

Another edit: I had a suitable cord in my "Things that may be useful in the future" drawer, and now i can run both in 1080 mode without constant pluggin and unplugging. Too bad my PC isn't quite up to it with newer games..

The Remote sensor in my computer gets really hot sometimes when I play a game and my fans spin up to 100% and it's really annoying. CPU and GPU both are below 50C when I tab out to check when the fans spin up and remote is pushing 70C. When I close out of a game between refresh ticks maybe twice a second it drops from 70 to 60 and the fans slow down. What could remote possibly be? I have just a prebuilt HP that i'm using so it's not OCd or anything.

If you flick back a few pages then you'll undoubtedly see my calamitous laptop OS downgrade, and I'm still having problems of some sort now with constant freezing. Every so often my screen will just freeze, the only way it can be resolved is by holding the power button to power off the machine. This problem occurred after I donwgraded my Acer Aspire 6530g from Vista to XP.

I also noticed it was running hot (Just by how it felt on my lap) so I installed some temperature measuring software (Speedfan, HWmonitor and HDD temperature) and it seems that my HDD is running at 51c, which is flagged as an "overheat" by HDD temperature. Is this particularly hot for a HDD in a laptop, I've read figures of around 30c are optimal. Could this have been caused by me having to change to IDE from AHCI in the BIOS before installing XP? Perhaps some sort of fan is no longer active? There's not a dedicated fan control in the BIOS and I've failed thus far coming up with a method to manually control them myself. It really does feel much hotter than before, even when just browsing the web.

Just a few ideas I'm pinging around as to why I'm getting these problems.
