Hello all. I'm finally going to upgrade my desktop, it's been too long. The main things that I want to upgrade are the CPU and the memory. Now, since it's got a Pentium 4 with a LGA 775 socket, that means I'll also have to get a new motherboard, right?
I won't be using this to game (well, rarely), so I suppose I can keep my current nVidia GeForce 8600GT.
The PSU is an http://www.enermaxusa.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=66, rated at 600W, so I reckon I'll be able to keep that one as well?
The case is an Antec P160, so if you could make sure everything will still fit, that'd be great.
To reiterate: what I'd like recommendations for is the following:
- CPU (don't know why, but I prefer Intel -- I suppose an i5 would be sufficient?)
- Motherboard
- Memory (I don't think I need more than 4GB)
My budget is about 400-500€. Don't feel to need to use it all if it isn't necessary. Similarly, if it's not enough, I can spare some more.
[edit] Make that about 400€. I'll need about a hundred for new hard drive. Also, I'm from Belgium, so it'd be great if you could use e.g. http://tones.be or http://komplett.be.
Thanks!
