Sorry if this has been posted before, but I think I've encountered a bug/glitch that is really pissing me off. It's with The Companions and I've just done the quest with Farkas as a follower in that Draugr/Silver Hand cave where he becomes a werewolf. Upon returning I apparently had to to some small, non story progressing, quests for them in order to continue with their quest line (joining the circle).

So I talked to Skjor who sent me to Bleakwind Basin to retrieve a family Heirloom that was lost, apparently it was a Glass warhammer. When I looked at my map I realized that the place was a small camp outside Whiterun that I had already cleared previously (was a giant and like two mammoths there). Easy enough I thought and fast traveled there.

Found the quest marker on a chest just next to the fire, opened the chest and took the warhammer. Problem is that the marker still stays on the chest even though I've picked up the hammer and the chest clearly says 'empty'. So I tried going back to Jorrvaskr and speak with Skjor and the others, but all they say is that I need to finish this quest before I can get a new job.

I've tried going there, putting the hammer back in the chest and taking it again several times, I've tried waiting, sleeping and searching for another less obvious chest in the camp. Nothing seems to work. The odd thing is that I can drop or sell the hammer, which would be impossible if it was a quest item right? If it's the wrong hammer, the question is where the real one is. I don't know if it has something to do with the fact that I cleared the camp before and picked the lock on the chest and looted it. I can't remember what was in it though. Really frustrating to not be able to progress with The Companions quest line since I want to join the circle and become a werewolf.

That's weird; I don't remember having to do that quest, and I've completed all the main companion quests. Are you sure that's not one of the radient ones? Even if it were though, it might still keep you from moving on. I don't know...but I hope it fixes for you somehow. The last companion quest is one of the more memorable quests I've done in the game.

Well yes it is one of the radient ones, thought I mentioned that somewhere but maybe it was a bit unclear.

Anyhow, it does keep me from moving on with their main quest line which is frustrating. There's not much information about it on the internet either. I found one person with the exact same problem as me (same quest, item and place) but there were no real answers there. I've read about other people aswell having problems with this quest but with different locations and items to fetch. I hope there will be some kind of fix for this because it took away like 50% of they joy of playing this game

Ok, so funny thing is I went back to that camp after having given up and done other things instead. Now a new warhammer has spawned in the chest, but still nothing happens when I take it. Never should have taken that damn quest..
