The Compass...

With north, east, south, and west scratched into it.

I also want to be able to set a waypoint on my map, and it will show on my compass.

They should also remove the names that appear on NPCs when you talk up to them, so that way the only way you can know who they are is if you ask them
There's a mod for that.

and recognize their appearance if you want to talk to them again.
, but not for that.

They should change their clothes everyday to make it harder to remember.
There's one for that, though.

They should also remove the labels on the entrances to caves, so you don't know if you found the right one for a quest, thus forcing you to explore that cave for an hour, searching for an item that's not there.
I don't think I've seen this one. Remove the compass marker, yes, but not remove the cave's name entirely.

Just give me a regular compass and a small scrap of map or even a blank one to get me started... I'll fill it in as I go.

That's actually a good idea.

General quest markers in the map (or however they'd be arranged out of the compass), selfplaced waypoint on the map and the compass - not intrusive and completely optional.

How about a real compass? And a map with bearings on it? The game would be more immersive and also teach people a valuable skill.

That would be awesome. I'd love to see that, though I'm pretty sure that won't happen.
