oh i did too, but there was always that... distance. its just i would have felt far more in the world if i was seeing the world from the view a person in the world would be seeing it. And with the technology we have today that is possible, i have no idea why anyone would want to regress back to something that is lesser.
Immersion is not the feeling that you are in the world, books can draw you in as can films. Are books only written in first person immerse would films be better if the camera only filmed from the main characters point of view?
First person views have been with us from 1980, there where plenty of first person games, where do people get the idea that FO1 was designed the way it was due to technology, blatantly false, it was made that way by design not because of limitation. I doubt anybody wants the full view of fallout back but more pulled out, rotatable view? yes please, the game would allow me to be immersed in my character by showing me what he/she is up too at any point, I find first person removes immersion in the character, as I don't want to see everything from their perspective. The character is not me.
Once we return to a decent view then we can return to a decent combat system, that is fully implemented turn based, nothing wrong with real time but FO should be turn based
Stay away from the FO forums return and see the same arguments people have been using for the last 4 years, even though a quick google search would show it to be false
