The conflict between what you want and what's In Character.

The character I did the KoTN questline with was more religious than the others, but still far from priest level.

After he became the Divine Crusader, I had this urge to have him walk the holy path from that point forward, but I knew I couldn't. As a matter of fact, he still was wearing his Raiment of Valor when challenging the Order's ghosts for the Crusader's cuirass.

It would be unrealistic to have him change overnight. He hasn't fought in the Arena in a while and I wonder if it would be in character to have him abandon it already. Then again, that quest where you get the boots does get the point across regarding Kynareth and her creatures, and the Grand Champion only fights against beasts.

Beyond that, I'm still deciding how I want his change to develop. I know what direction I want him to take, which is to be the knight Pelinal never was, all that is left is to figure out the best way to go about it.

On a side note, a major regret of mine is that I once failed when faced with the clash between what I want and roleplay.

When you first meet Carodus, he asks if you are the one rebuilding the Order, and you can either say "Yes I am" proudly, or meekly state "I'm only a servant of the Nine". Instead of thinking about the character, I just picked what he supposedly should say, not what he would say.

And now I've no choice but to acknowledge this moment of hypocrisy.

I've had clashes with characters, too. On a few occasions, I've reached an impasse with my character, and have simply dropped their game for a while. After a "break," it always seems to turn out that they were right, and I was wrong. :)
