The console PC war

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:16 am

I think there is such a hostility between the two becuase the PCers just mod everything
in fact some of the first articles that open up are asking what mods you want..WTF
the game comes out in the year and you already wanna mod it...i do have respect for you but i also dont like the fact that its all you seam to care about

I prefer Vanilla Elder Scrolls Games. Other people do not. No reason I want Bethesda to disable modding, considering it's optional and all.

Really? you think that's the source to all the hostility? I didn't even know anyone thought modding is wrong? o0 I'm pretty sure some PC gamers are annoyed at console gamers because they feel games are often dumbed down to fit the console market/platform. I'm also fairly sure some console gamers find PC gamers to be elitish idiots who only care about people who happen to have a powerful PC...

Nothing wrong with people modding their game so that they can enjoy it more.

Not to show any disrespect to you OP...but is this even worth discussing? its an option a choice, -you- have as much control over that choice as you want. please this will degrade quickly and violate forums rules. infact it seems it already is via title...

Nothing wrong with Modding at all, Bethesda release the construction set so that people can mod.

No matter how good a game is, and obviously we all hold Bethesda's vanilla games in the highest regard, they're never perfect.
What Bethsda do by releasing the Construction Set, is allow people to add their own things to the game, and to make them as close to perfect as one person prefers.
Mods are optional, so really people that don't like them - don't use them.
But they're also a huge part of the community and a great reason as to why Bethesda games are the best.
^_^

What is the downside?

In the place of a console you would have a PC! Not dark but beautiful and terrible as the Morn! Treacherous as the Seas! Stronger than the foundations of the Earth! All shall mod me and despair!

PC gamers are modding their game? Making it better? STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!

I think that one of the first popular Oblivion mods was one that removes the useless 'loading area...' message you'd constantly get in exteriors. So why wouldn't you get that right away? ;)

I would rather not mod it.
but if there's something about it that I wished was a bit different, then I will request a mod for it.
some are simple and make sense. e.g. At Home Alchemy (for Oblivion) that allows you to leave your alchemy items set up on a table, and use them without bringing them off the table and into your inventory.
Console people get what they get, and swear by it, but then complain about some aspects of the game.

I'm still confused how people make that mistake. English is not even my native language but I never wrote that wrong. It just makes no sense if you read over it again.

So.. PC gamers are crap because they dilute the purity of the vanilla TES?

Doesn't that sound a little anti-semodic?

Mods come after the game is played for 500 hours for me. Anyone that thinks modding is "Wrong" you can shove a stick in your ear.

I understand where you're coming from, and I agree that people shouldn't just assume that the game will require mods to play, and should wait for and play the vanilla game before complaining. That said, there is nothing wrong with modding it. All mods do is add to the game, letting you enjoy longer and without certain frustrations. Bethesda themselves will play and feature mods, from time to time.

I hate gaming on a console, mostly due to the controls, also I have a good PC capable of better graphics than consoles.

The only mods I use on Morrowind are graphical enhancements. As for Oblivion I played it through Vanilla before improving it with mods.
