The Couriers Future Story Arc

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 12:39 am

Okay, So this is a speculation on the order of the DLC, Based on info in game files, DLC, and In-game Content...

Dead Money (Reference to future Story-Arc) : NPC speaks about the Last DLC and the events of what happens in it.

Honest Hearts (Involves Joshua Graham, New Canaan, Caesars Legion): Joshua Graham supposedly lives, and you decide to travel with Ringo/Merchant (Depending on the choice in Goodsprings.) to help start a branch in New Canaan, and along the way you meet Joshua Graham (Supposedly dead.) and he would MOST likely want revenge against the Legion, so what I speculate with this is that you either help him take revenge, change his views to accept what the Legion did for the good of the Faction, OR kill him. (The Grand Canyon, Possibly the Great Divide which is involved with the supposed Last DLC.)
Honest Hearts is tied to this DLC from Grafitti in the game, nothing I can tie from a speculation.

Big Empty: It may involve Tibbits Prison/Research Base (Van Buren.) which would be known as "The Big Empty" which is referenced by two NPC's in Dead Money and content from some scrapped ideas from the Cut-game Van Buren, Alot of old Pre-war technology is said to be there, It's possible that it may involve destroying the base, or preserving it.

The Fourth: Python- Helios One: Python is hinted at by devolopers to have more than meets the eye, possibly related with a Poseidon Energy based DLC- Possibly involving the Enclave or a Powerplant.

Lonesome Road(?) (Going southwest.): Mojave Outpost is most likely involved with this possible DLC, If it is, judging from the map of the world then the MOST likely area for it to take place is The Hub, you may leave the mojave to work as a Caravan Guard seeing that the Mojave Outpost is a checkpoint for Caravan's, and that the Crimson Caravan is headquartered in the Hub.
Possibly involving Raiders (Old fashioned.), the criminal factions, or the thieves guild.
The name Lonesome Road is tied to this DLC as it seems to be a reference to a Caravan raid, The Courier being attacked with a Caravan, being the lone survivor, being on the lonesome road.

Old World Blues(?): It would be the DLC with the Courier, Involving Ulysess, The Great Divide (Speculated by many to be the Grand Canyon.), the possible things involved might be involving Boone in which you would have to decide between him, or Ulysses as Permanant companions, or as another scenario, You would have to help Ulysses fight someone (He is supposedly CL, so it may involve attacking the NCR.) or defend whatever it may be he fights against. (Which would mean you fight against him.)
The name is tied with this DLC as Ulysses has the flag of the Old World on his back, and seems to be fighting for what was once America. (Blues being related to the Courier and his struggle perhaps.)

Courier-Ulysess relation: Worked together before/Minor Encounter.

Someone has took note of Zeni-max purchasing the titles for somethings that seem to be related to Dead Money, I updated them to show which DLC I think they are tied to.

Judging from locations in-game, and inclusion of open-ended content, I feel there will be six DLC's.
Thoughts on my reasoning and speculations?

Van Buren DLC/Final DLC
Nothing much is known about this DLC, I've just found out about this DLC...
This DLC would feature an area we would never expect to see according to a source. It is said that a personality from Fallout 3 is going to be featured in this DLC as well...

Possible Unexpected Locations: A.) BOMB001: Cut-endgame location for Van Buren. - B.) Tibbets Prison: Cut start from Van Buren.- . C.) Vault 13
Possible Fallout 3 Personalities: A.) Augustus Autumn, B.) Eden, C.) James

Actually no, It is more likely that you will be fighting alongside each other seeing as there is no evidence that they will be FORCED to fight each other, just that there will be a fight with both involved.

I don't think Ulysses will still be associated with the Legion if and when he makes a return. I also hope he is a companion, he seems pretty cool. I do like your ideas, but has the number of dlcs been confirmed yet?

I think Honest Hearts will actually be the last DLC. Sure, it's the second "graffiti" found, but with the build up Ulysses in the DLC "Dead Money", and the build up of the Burned Man in the main game, I'm pretty sure they'll save him for last with Ulysses.

I'm thinking we'll be working with Ulysses (much like we did with Dean, Christine, and Dog/God in Dead Money, though without an explosive collar this time) until we meet up with Joshua Graham. And then at the end, depending on our actions, Ulysses will either end his bloodlust for the Courier, or will fight him at the Divide.

I also don't think the flight simulators will be used. I think they were there just to explain why the Boomers were able to fly the B-52 bomber.

Legions card in the Collectors edition has him linked with Legion, none of these have been confirmed (Honest Hearts is mentioned in the game files with "Joshua Graham lives!, The Burned Man walks!") though Honest Hearts is widely believed to be made.

Flight Simulators can be used, but they need passcodes, I may or may not have been clear on my OP, but I meant to say you could team up with Ulysess and eventually can turn on him/he turns on you, and you could either kill him, side with him, or convince him to remain neutral, but I honestly think it will be the last one.

Though these may be in reverse..

Sure they can be used, but what's the simulator going to play? The simulators were designed so they could teach the little Boomers how to fly the plane. That wouldn't be a very fun DLC. If they do VR again, I'm sure it'd be a separate location to keep the simulators at Nellis flight simulators and to make sense.

It is also stated in one of Dog's endings that:

"The new voice did not think of the Courier again until the battle at the Divide reached his ears. The battle between the two couriers, beneath the torn skies and the Old World flag... each bearing a message for the other. And the mutant prayed the Courier that had saved him... had been saved in return."

I shot Dog. Can someone else confirm this?

Sorry, I just beat Dead Money again and payed attention to the ending narrations, looks like they will fight each other.

ALSO, I talked to Ringo in the Crimson Caravan area, and his dialouge seemed to have been updated. can anyone post what he said before the DLC was released about "What's next for you?"?

Ah, that makes sense. You'll have the option to fight with Joshua Graham or Ulysses. This is a great move by Obsidian, Now I'm sure that 10x more people will get the DLC because of the great storyline.

Meh, most of this is spot on, Honest Hearts dealing with New Canaan and a future DLC dealing with the Divide are almost official. As is one with the Big Empty (IMO its either Area 51 or Los Alamos, might be Tibbetts but wouldn't make sense for a military research center to be a prison really when they have a bunch of cool military posts in Nevada/Arizona)

However the flight simulator is pretty far out there imo.

I also think there would be one set in the Boneyard area down the road from Mojave Outpost that would make sense

HOWEVER what I really want is at least one dlc that does not add much in way of new places but rather a dlc that focuses more on factions already present (for example allowing you to join the Legion, NCR, Brotherhood, etc. official and rise up in the ranks (ala Oblivion-style) and then to be able to do more quests along with repeatable ones (i.e. assassination quests (for both Legion and NCR) etc.))

THIS would be cool.

Edit:I should also just mention the designers picked a PERFECT place for future content expansion (Los Angeles area just down the road, Grand Canyon to the east, "Area 51" somewhere in Nevada, New Canaan in Utah close by, etc. etc. hell you could go down to Mexico for one as well)

I dunno if Ringo's dialog has been changed or updated, but it says he'll be heading to New Canaan on a major Crimson Caravan Expedition.

Its not updated. I spoke with him about his future plans before any patches... He always says he'll be heading up the New Canaan branch of Crimson Caravan.

Yeah, thanks because I wasn't sure if he says "I plan on going" instead of "I am going"

I believe there is another possible location, the sewers under many buildings are named [Inaccessible] while some next to it are opened.

Personally I think you'll be working with Ulysses against the Burned Man. Graham seems far too powerful to not be a threat.

Otherwise this whole time they will have felt like two big teases.

Graham being a companion would be such a game breaker though. He was supposedly a better fighter than Lanius.

So?
It's the players choice if they want a beast like that with them. ;)
Apparently Boone is currently a one hit killer and I don't use him.

i love your idea of seeing shady sands again. i recently started playing fallout 1 after falling in love with Fallout 3 and New Vegas. it would be amazing to see how its changed from a few huts in the desert into a sprawling metropolis.
