The Couriers

Post » Mon Oct 18, 2010 5:14 pm

Well, As we all should know, There are only two Couriers in Vegas currently, These are The Courier, and that poor fellow outside the Mojave Express in Primm..

So my question is, What happened to them? Did they make it sucessfully?
Or did they die?
Also, Was it one of the Couriers that wrote "Courier 6" on the Bus at the Canyon Wreckage?

I think Johnson Nash sais that the last they heard about the job was that all the other couriers had succesfully delivered their packages. He also mentions a mysterious man who "seemed to have a history" with the player character and refers to you as "Courier 6" and turns down the job you take so you could take it. It's theorized he is the one who wrote those things on the wreckage, or that he had something to with it.

Well, you saw the fate of one of the other couriers. Though apparently he died after delivery of the package according to Nash. Presumably they went back to whatever it is they normally do, or went on to other package deliveries after wards.
Spoiler
All of the other couriers delivered their packages fine because they were all decoys. Benny knew which package was the real one, and which courier (you) was carrying it.

Dang, That is too bad, I was hoping for some of the Couriers to be involved in a DLC as Antagonists..

No, not exactly. Mojave Express employs a number of couriers, I imagine. There was a POTENTIAL sixth courier who turned the job down, specifically so you could take it. In Nash's words, he "seemed to think the Mojave would sort you out or something." The Mojave Express could have tens or hundreds of couriers as far as we know, but seemed to assign numbers to the 6 couriers hired to deliver various items such as fuzzy dice, old chess pieces, and of course the platinum chip.

Also, I suggest that this thread be moved to the Cheats, Hints, and Spoilers section

EDIT: It's also speculated that the courier who turned down the job for you may be involved in a DLC eventually, as it looks like you may be able to acess some new areas though that wreckage with Courier 6 written on it, though I don't know for sure as I have yet to actually find the wreckage myself yet.

So...

You requested potential spoiler information (what happened to the other couriers?), the only information is a spoiler (a specific NPC in a specific town that gives information specific to the main quest, which also ties in with your question, which I gave you.)

I know that if I hadn't yet played the game I would be somewhat upset that this whole underlying, although under developed, sub story was just spoiled for me.

What sub-story? I already stated they were'nt in the game, This was for speculations, Nash is'nt a main-quest important character, Primm is'nt a specific town which spoils a part of the game.

So.. Your point?

That could be a spoiler in itself, that they're not in the game... granted it's a spoiler that'll save some people a lot of time, but there might be people walking through the wasteland spending days trying to find the corpses of the other ones.

Sub-Story: The 6 couriers and the one potential courier that turned down the job.
Nash: On first playthroughs, it's likely that you will talk to Nash before speaking to anyone inside primm, where he will point you to another character that is also important to the main quest. Yes, you can completely skip him, but that's optional. That would be like saying the Vulpes Inculta, Manny Vargas, or Jessup had absolutely nothing to with the main quest, which they all do. A minor role, but it's there.
Primm: No, it doesn't spoil the main quest, but there is a few other quests that involve/revolve around that town, quests that can be spoiled.

Too far off topic, you won't listen to reason, I'm done replying to you.

The point was that it invited discussion of plot points. I agree with the point. Discussion of plot points and mysteries (and sure, speculation based around plot points) is less likely to irk people in the spoilers forum. That forum gets plenty of traffic, so when in doubt, no harm in posting there.

Instead of getting the thread off topic (like you have) report posts, and let mods decide what to do with it (its there job).

On topic... I will be sad if nothing is expanded on who this guy was that gave you the job. Was he a friend who felt you need the caps/hardening up? I don't think so. Remember the underlining theam of this game. "The game was rigged from the start".

I think it would have more to to with the "game being rigged" than a secret friend. I think you would remember him otherwise, especially when you find out that he gave his job to you which almost ended up with you dead. That is quite a friend. I think he knew you'd die. So I'd like to have my revenge on him. Actually more than on Benny, because I just got the bad luck of carrying the chip without knowing, but this guy who gave you the job instead knew that he would get killed if he carried it, but said or did nothing to prevent this. Maybe he was just a family father short on caps, and the bribe was too good (even though I think Benny would rat out on him aswell)

Hm.

Wonder how they're going to be able to pull off this backstory DLC without messing up The Courier too much by giving him a fixed background.

Who says they'd give you a fixed background, It could just be about that one guy who gab (lololopun) you the job, not about what happened before that.

Well, it just seems like there's more to it.
The Courier is part of Courier Six apparently.
If we were to meet up with the other 5 and talk to them or that one guy who didn't want the job at Nash's, wouldn't it be weird if they knew us but we didn't know them?

One, Two, Three and Five are still active in the game.

They were all special ninja couriers, never seen but they transport items from Dropbox to Dropbox constantly.

Yeah, but I meant that the guy refused to take the courier job carrying the platinum ship so Nash gave that job to you instead.

This is definitely containing plot & mystery points, so don't read it if ya don't want to hear!

...and here are some more:
Spoiler
remember that Nash says {something like} "he saw your name next on the list and refused the package right then and there. Don't know what that was about, but you two must have had a history..."

Showler said, "They were all special ninja couriers, never seen but they transport items from Dropbox to Dropbox constantly."

:foodndrink: lol. That sounds like work, but easier than the soda machine refilling job, I guess.

They could easily play it off that we just got amnesia or something after being shot... Twice. It could happen.

After reading something from Gabriel77dan on the DLC GD, It referenced a Courier with an old flag on his back, and he said in the uppper left corner of the screen, It showed "Of things to come" which makes it appear that the original Courier Six is Ulysess..

It sounds intresting.
