DB "the cure for madness" Dawnstar Sanctuary Bug

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 2:18 am

Ive ran into a bug and have seached in this forum, the wiki and USEP. I cant find an answer, I think Im pretty much screwed but maybe someone out there has an answer.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

Got to The Cure for Madness quest. Found Ciceros final journal, read it, talked to all guild members. Got Shadowmere, went to Dawnstar. Found Arnbojrn and talked to him. Activated door to Dawnstar Sanctuary and now it wont give the the option for the real phrase "innocence". I just keep getting the original 3 options. Tried dropping book and reading it again and picking it back up. During my conversation with Arnborjn I even said that I knew the Phrase! Sadly, Im stuck here, cant get inside the Sanctuary to give Cicero the old what for. Any help would be most appreciated. Reloading saves to previous doesnt help, still same thing. Thanks.

Did you find all of cicero's journals? or just the first final one? You might need to search his room at the old sanctuary.

may I also recommend using \[spoiler\] tags to hide things?

Then people really can avoid them:

\[spoiler\]
something sneaky here wont be seen.
\[\/spoiler\]

Spoiler

something sneaky here wont be seen.

The lower one there is just like the top, but remove all the backslashes '\'

Ah, sorry for not using the spoiler buttons. I kinda thought that the spoiler tag under the title and to all caps SPOILER warning would be enough. Next time I'll use them though. Not trying to come off as a wise guy, sorry if it sounds that way.

I actually had all of his books on me.

I feel stupid really, I solved this myself by just standing outside the door and pressing the wait button and waiting 24 hrs after a save a reload that is. It gave me the option finally. This is the 3rd time Ive done this quest and hadnt run into this bug the first 2 times. At least I caught it soon and didnt waste too much time or energy.

So you fixed it? Awesome!

Don't worry about the spoilers tags, I did not mean to sound like know-it-all jerk either. Just like a convention here and I was trying to be friendly.

Thanks again for the help. Way to be on point. Yea, so many people being jerks to each other in this forum, just wanted to make sure I didnt come off as one. Long time lurker here and a firm believer in "a wise man speaks when he has something to say, a fool speaks because he HAS to say something."

TMB25Romeo, I signed in just to say your truism is very wise. We should all remember this. ( I hope I correctly used the quote function.)

I wish I could take credit for it but I think it was Plato who said it first. Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) said something similar like, better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. Either one is pretty poignant.
