The Dark Brotherhood - Hate or Love and Embrace them?

Post » Wed Oct 22, 2014 5:37 am

I personally love and embrace the Dark Brotherhood. Yes! I said it, I love the Dark Brotherhood as much as the Volkihar Vampire Clan.

I personally find them to be better company than the Thalmor, but here's how I see it.

There's a lot of stupid NPC's out there in Skyrim that deserve to be picked off. Some people in Skyrim are better off dead in Nirn and I feel that any NPC that dies by my character's hand is an honor as well as a privilege to be had.

I mean every person that I've killed has been really mouthy and disrespectful and Grelod definitely deserved an arrow between the eyes the way she was cruel to the orphans.

However I think being the Dark Brotherhood is a point of view. I think they do Tamriel a good service by getting rid of a few bad people. I know some good people get hit in the cross fire, but I think the fact that they strike fear in the hearts of man and mer keeps some people in line. But thats just me.

The DB reminds me of a gang of angsty adolescents, right down to the corny red and black armor. I just can't take them seriously. But, fun questline.

Liked at the beginning, they all seemed like competent and not psychopathic death cult assassins which really annoyed me about Oblivion's DB then got sad when the Night Mother shows up and literally ruins everything.

Once again, really black and white options in the title :P

I don't know, the quests are fun, I never really managed to like the characters too much, especially in OB when they all just wanted to slit their wrists for Sithis.

Skyrim was better, but I still never got attached to the characters the same way as in the other factions. So I'm pretty neutral, they're fun the Lore is cool enough, but the characters just aren't doing it for me.

Exactly my thoughts, it tried so hard to be "dark and mature" and it just ended up looking way too force and angsty, the quest were rather fun though. :)

I think that's one of the paradoxes of "mature" content- very rarely does it succeed at actually being mature.

Hail Sithis.

I was actually sad in the beginning. I loved them in Oblivion. As crazy as they were I actually began to like them and was happy when that distrusting hateful Khajiit began to be nice to me. I was sad when I had to do the cleansing. I actually went the extra distance to make sure each was paid respect when their time came. The Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion kinda fizzled for me after that. I really enjoyed doing the dead drop quests and earning my way.

Skyrim's DB was much the same way, only reverse. I was impressed with their intro quest in the cabin, but after that it felt like the guild had lost their teeth. Cicero kinda made me smile, but I never trusted him. I was happy when the Night Mother re-entered the picture and I like their story from that point forward. I only wish I could have actually recruited named NPCs from the world, but beyond that I love'm.

The Dark Brotherhood was my #1 until Dawngaurd. The Volkihar became my #1 and DB #2.

Hail Sithis.

[note] I still miss my Vile Lair from Oblivion. I wish they had a place like it in Skyrim for me, but alas, console player. No Mods.

More or less how I feel about them. It was fun taking down the marks, and I guess it's always nice to earn some extra cash and items, but everything about them, right down to every single detail of each member of the Brotherhood is so ridiculous, and somehow funny in a sad way. Every time I heard one of their conversations I was laughing in that "oh god, you poor bastards" way and facepalming myself. :P

Those are my favorites! I think they are some of the best factions in the game.

I was pissed when they killed off Lucian. He was probably one of the most loyal followers in a faction that I've seen in Oblivion other than Isran in the Dawnguard. However I really like the Volkihar instead because I like the Vampire Lord. But yeah, I have a lot of fun with the Dark Brotherhood and I like the pay and some of the rewards.

The first paragraph says it all. DB and Volkihar all the way.

Cicero actually puts me right off the DB as does the fact that from time to time DB assassins have tried to kill my character.....Cicero reinforces me deep-seated feeling that clowns/jesters are crazy creeps I think
