The Dark Brotherhood

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:20 pm

I've no doubt about it. The general thought on Hannibal's actions seemed split pretty evenly, and that's just in Cyrodiil, but from what I've read on these forums, apparently the Mages' Guild did split into the Synod and the College of Whispers. I could be wrong, as I haven't actually read the book, yet, but that's what I've seen here.

Edit: Please correct me if I'm wrong, and that's directed towards anyone who may know.
I read the book, and I was very bored by it. I don't know much if anything about the Synod or College of Whispers from the book. I think I bought it for a dollar, and I'll send it to you for free if you want to read it.

I'm detecting some regret in spending that dollar. :P

I've got the book, but I'd rather read a certain ingame series any day, to be honest. The book kind of bored me, too. It was about 10 pages in that I said "screw this, I'm rereading the Real Barenziah series, instead". :P

The Morag Tong are the most boring group of killers that could possibly exist. It's legal to assassinate, and their quests were mostly a shopping list of clothes. Forget the freaking Morag Tong.

I totally agree that the DB quests were infinitely better than those of the MT. Beyond that, it's really a matter of style. As mentionned countless times before, I like my assassins to look halfway professional, and not like a giggling bunch of goth kids high on Skooma and Twilight. Blood and bones and black cowls and hoarse whispers. Good grief. Never laughed so much as I did witnessing the demise of Lachance.

Yeah, the DB were legal. So ? Who did present their writs to the law ? Collected mine as proof I wasn't seen.

*edit* Sorry Shadow, fixed. :P

*insert confused face here*

Trying to figure out which you actually meant as "DB" and "MT"

The Dark Brotherhood started in Skyrim, so i doubt that they will take it out in its home province.

The Dark Brotherhood is empire wide and doesn't need the empire to operate. They definitely will be in the next game.

Not to mention, it was noted that during the chaos of the 2nd era after the fall of the Reman empire and before the rise of Tiber Septim, the Dark Brotherhood was extremely fat with gold.

I like the Brotherhood. Maybe the Morag Tong or another organisation could be in competition with them and you have to choose a side. That could be fun, especially if they had different perks each.

The Morag Tong has likely gone to hell from the destruction caused by The Red Year, so we need to stop banking they're a rival faction or will be a group (not to mention, they only operated in Morrowind, thanks to Vivec making it so they can exist, and wholly unsanctioned elsewhere). Also, the Dark Brotherhood holds the monopoly of assassinations, and if they catch wind that there are freelancers or other organizations, they will hunt them down and their employers.

Well considering how the Brotherhood was left massivly crippled at the end, (The Dark Brotherhood Chronicles not included, of course.) you never know how things could have turned out. It could have gone either way. I don't know if Cyrodiil's Brotherhood would affect the status of other branches though.

Don't remind me of that video of that poor kitty I just saw. :(

Anyway, on topic: Ofcourse The Dark Brotherhood will by in Skyrim. There's has to be at least 1 evil faction, and The Dark Brotherhood is the main one. (Thieves Guild isn't evil enough  ) And although I haven't played Morrowind, I think I'd much rather have DB than Morag Tong. The DB is evil, MT really isn't. I also really liked the dark atmosphere and the fact that most of the members are crazy as [censored]. :P

I think it's very likely that the Dark Brotherhood will return. They operate across all of Tamriel.

Maybe we should consider the fact that the player in MW and OB both had the opportunity to lead the organisation. And that they are also both great heroes and saviours. Therefor it would be hard for beth to handle the whole lore thing.

We'll see the Dark Brotherhood, I think, but I doubt we'll see the Morag Tong (or what remains of it) again. Since Morrowind got nuked, I doubt they're still very much active, and if they are, it'll be on Solstheim.

Oh, I just hope they aren't over-exxagurated puppy-murderers, again. They where shallow and ridiculous in Oblivion. I wanna see more from Daggerfall/Morrowind's representations. They're supposed to be (basically) a group of assassin mercenaries. I would LOVE to join that guild. They just completely made the guild stupid in Oblivion.

I think that thefact they were all a bit weird was a good choice. You're a member of the greatest team of assassins in the land, you're goin' to tell dark, funny stories of your exploits.

The Darkbrotherhood in Oblivion was wannabe evil, you felt that they tried too hard to be sinister and it showed. Now the Morag Tong though, that was some serious s'wit.

I want:
- The Dark Brotherhood
- Morag Thong
- Knights Who Say "Ni!"
- Order of the Stick
- League of Shaodws
- The Base
- The Mano Nera
- The Black Hand
- A M?o Negra
- Die Schwarze Hand

And a series of quests that allows you to put all of them in collision course. :chaos:

I can only hope that this time they're more of a group of assassins than a comedy troupe.

But how can you forget hearing about Vincinti (or however you spell it) talk to the argonian about slaying a whole carnival? :P

They should make the brotherhood more secret. No more having their base of operations in plain view as an abandoned house in Cheydinhal.

Well maybe something between the Brotherhood and Morag Tong, but personally I preffered the Brotherhood. The Morag Tong were boring as hell. Nothing interesting about them.
