The Death Cam

In Oblivion, you died and within seconds the load menu would pop up. Instead, would you like the option to bring that menu up, allowing you to watch your dead body longer and see what the NPCs and other game elements do to it?

I would rather an autoload option.

... Hmm... It'd be kinda cool, but I don't plan on dying too much :shifty:

Then again, I wouldn't really care either way.

Sure, and you could still move the camera around like a ghost as long as you want to just watch NPC's.

I remember when Todd or someone else in an Oblivion preview said that when he died that the bandit who killed him started to loot his body. :whistling:

I wouldn't mind if they made the death cam, First Person if in First Person, just to add to the immersion...
But I think Death Cam should be done like you die "Pause the game to load last save game" so you can choose to see your corpse a little longer.

Yeah, the best version I've seen of this has been S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - when you died, the cam would go 3rd person and you'd see your corpse being dragged away by dogs.... It'd be great if Skyrim did something similiar - I'm sure there was a death cam mod for Oblivion anyway.

There have been like 3-4 different death cam mods for Oblivion.
It's a nice little feature. Fun to watch you fall off mountains.

It's very very easy to do and should be in Skyrim from the start.

Meh, I'd rather not have any death scenes or special animations for dying. I'm not a big fan of when games try and make you feel bad about failing. Just wanna get back in there as fast as possible and try again.

Id like it to give around 30 seconds but as soon as you press a button the load option comes up. If i had a 30 second timer to play with i could enjoy tall cliffs much much more than oblivion let me

The funny thing about oblivion's death cam was that if you got a mod that prolonged the reload screen, you would notice that NPC's still tried to talk to you while you're laying on the ground dead.

I think it would be pretty cool if stuff happened after you died also. I would like to hear my enemies say a corny one-liner after they killed me or let out an evil laugh.

It's just kinda silly getting killed and then watching all the npc's go about their buisniss like nothing happened and talking about how deadra worship was becoming more popular in the summerset isles.

Meh, when I die I like to be able to reload asap and get back into the action. What do you really gain from watching your dead body lay on the ground for an extended period of time?

i think it should go slow-mo in first person, and there should be animations depending on how you die.

Melee- slow-mo fall in the direction you were hit

arrow- same as melee.

Fire- it shows your flaming arms waving around.

Electric- you see blue lighting running around your arms, you then fall over.

ice- you raise your hands up slightly, ice starts to surround them, and you stop moving.

Cant think of any more at the moment.

I don't care so much about a death cam, but I'd like to see the vanity cam return.

Can't remember if Oblivion had this or not(?) but I know Morrowind did. If you just let your character sit for a little while without moving or touching a key, an external camera view of your character would appear, slowly rotating around to show your character within his surroundings. Which was good for screenshots and whatnot. Always a nice feature.

Death cam showing all those dragon souls you obtained so far, and yours separate, while zooming out. But when I mouse click - autoload.

You didn't need to wait, actually. Pressing the third person key would allow you to go into a third person view where you can see the game from behind you're character, and holding it down would allow you to rotate the camera around you're character, and Oblivion had this too.

I'm wondering though if NPCs can also get finishing moves when they kill you, if they can, I'd definitely like to be given time to see how they kill my character. Possibly instead of just a load menu automatically coming up like in past games, you could sit there and watch you're corpse for a time and a small, unobtrusive but still noticable prompt would come up saying to press a certain button to bring up the load menu or something. Some games can give players great fun in watching how you die, and if Skyrim allows players to die in amusing ways, I'd definitely like the option to watch it.

I agree that there should be a death camera. It's less frustrating to die when you see yourself falling down, and then hear your opponents commenting how they got you. :)

A death camera mod is something that I always install to Oblivion. The load save screen appearing immediately after dying is boring, and it's the most easiest way for the developers to do as they don't have to program what your opponents do after your death. With an infinite time death camera the opponents just completely stop after you die and stupidly stare your body in silence. It would be the best if you at least could see them looting your corpse and celebrating their victory some way before the load save screen appears.

As long as I have the option of hitting the ESC key or a button on console controller to immediately go to the load screen I don't care. It would be nice to see what happens once or twice, but I think it would lose it's novelty after that.
