Yeah I really like that, do you mind telling me why they were cursed?
Ahh, I can tell you didn't play Morrowind then? Here's the brief breakdown. Way back before the start of the First Era, the Dunmer, then called Chimer, were at odds with the Dwemer (the Dwarves) about their research into using the power of a god's heart (The Heart of Lorkhan) to make their race immortal. It eventually errupted into a war, in the midst of which the power of that same heart somehow made the whole Dwemer race disappear. Thus the Chimer's leader Nerevar, aided by the Daedric Lord Azura, was victorious, but legends say he got severely wounded in the battle. Among his last orders to his advisors was that the heart never be used again for profane purposes. They swore an oath, but they broke it - they used the fruit of the Dwemer's reasearch to turn themselves into the Tribunal, a trio of immortal demigods to be worshipped by their people as actual god-rulers. Infuriated by the broken oath and their acts, Nerevar's patron diety, Azura, punished the Tribunal and their people by turning their skin dark and their eyes red, to forever remind them of their unforgivable transgression. Thus the Chimer became the Dunmer ("The Dark Ones"). She also foretold that Nerevar's reincarnation would return to right the wrongs, and that reincarnation is the main protagonist of Morrowind.
