To the Devs....I want a refund

Post » Sat Jul 31, 2010 4:17 pm

After Fallout 3 I would of thought you may have actually fixed the problems plagued with Fallout 3 on the PC, specially with Nvidia cards. I simply cannot understand how you can release a product that is broken. I constantly have my 2 gpus being used at 25%-35% on this game. I have terrible lag it was the same with fallout 3, was amazing how you couldn't manage to fix the HDR bug that was with Fallout 3. Now I pay you for a broken game I cannot play. Simply if you cannot fix this, I want a refund. I do not want a broken game that will not be patched (correctly) for full GPU optimization. Before you ask me, yes I have tried numerous Nvidia drivers and used the D3D9 fix, but using the fix makes the game look like an N64 game.

Bethesda, if you can only release a game for PC gamers that is only friendly with ATI cards, you really shouldn't have Jobs as devs. I really don't understand how you can release this game without it being optimized correctly.

Same with Oblivion, Fallout 3.

Give me my money back. Trading standards (UK) would be interested in hearing about this "broken" product. Either seriously fix your game or give me a refund.

Haven't had any issues with the game with my setup, 260.89 does wonders.

Devs or Nvidia don't obviously give a crap about old cards.

GTX 295 which is mine.

I do not want a broken game, I didn't pay for one.

Also I am on 260.89 drivers.

No luck.

Should try the d3d9 fix, makes your game look worse than the 360 version.

Bump, so I'm guessing the Devs don't give a crap about the consumer.

Ok Trading standards then.

Actually, it does not. It resets your graphics options in the launcher to medium. Just put them back to ultra-high (or whatever you had them set to previously). Then the game should look and perform great.

I run a GTX480 and was having the slowdown-near-npcs issue, and the d3d9 fix worked wonders.

Thats just your settings not sticking really. I use the Dll fix myself and the graphics is exactly the same.
After applying the dll into your fallout folder and launching the game, itl autodetect your settings again, this is where your settigns are not sticking because the fallout.ini automaticaly sets itself to read-only. So what you need to do is
-Open graphics options in launcher
-Find your fallout.ini file (which is in Documents - My games - FalloutNV) , then right click - properties - uncheck read-only - apply.
-Then change your graphics settings and hit ok
Now your settings should stick.

There is a noticeable difference in texture quality and shadows even on ultra high, take a screen shot and compare the two. That's why the d3d9 file is so small.

Also, forcing Maximum performance for power draw doesn't help me at all.

Yes, I have noticed this to. One good example is when the dll is not used there is lights hanging off the overhang of the Goodsprings saloon. With the dll installed, there is no lights. I also notice a texture quality difference.

Honestly. I just had the same result. Graphics look bland and shadows look worn.

Wow, an N64 game? Go play an N64 game and then tell me that. Jesus, its amazing how some people are. The d3d9 fix worked perfectly for me and the game looks beautiful, you must be doing something wrong :)

That hasn't been the case with me. The dll fix worked beatifully for my GTX460 (Vista 32). When I first approached the saloon without the fix, my frames dropped to 15fps (with Easy Pete sitting outside). Now I maintain a steady 60+ on Ultra settings with no loss of visual fidelity (and no loss of lights or any other details).

Seriously before commenting on something you haven't spend hours on trying to fix, go and compare a screenshot with the d3d9 fix and without.

Im running an ATI 5970 and have the same framerate problems near npcs...even with the amount of horsepower in my card it can still get down in the teens around 6-8 npcs. (as in vikki and vances casino)

and the d3d9 fix didnt do anything...

oh yeah and xfire doesnt work although I guess thats expected because it never, ever, ever works with any game (like the last two games ive bought, napoleon total war and the witcher, it didnt work with either and now nv) so its just freaking pointless to buy a x2 card

im beginning to get so pissed off with gaming on a whole, especially the PC because there are huge numbers of retarted glitches in EVERY SINGLE GAME.

It's gotten to the point where I expect to have to deal with gamebreaking glitches every game I buy.

Uh how bout I DID spend hours trying to fix it! I was just as irritated as you dude, but the .DLL worked for me and the game looks beautiful. Nothing wrong with the graphics AT ALL. Not for me anyways.
