The Diablo thread

I love the Y mod, thanks again. I love this mod so much now. I hate finding things and can't keep them just because there is no space. Now I can.

At first even playing a /players 8, I thought this game was easy. Well now I am playing at /playes 1. Well I think I am, I am finding this game so hard now. When playing with the Y mod, is it set to players 1 or players 8 each time you start a new game?

One more other question. I am about to imbue my weapon. From last experiance I saved my files just in case I click on something by accident. Well I am playing a Necromancer right now. I love using Poison dagger magic spell. Thing is, I only have a crappy Dagger. When I imbue a dagger, it still svcks. I don't ever rememeber my dagger svcking so bad. Should I save my imbue and get a better dagger later, or should I imube another weapon say a sword or what not and use that for the Necromancer and forget about the poison dagger?

It's /players 1 by default unless you change it in the .ini like I did.

Imbuing svcks at lower levels, and I never used it even at high levels. Don't waste it though. Use what you can find. I'm assuming you're playing a poisonmancer so at low levels it doesn't matter much what dagger you use unless you find a good rare or unique. Get your MF up as high as you can and just keep playing; you'll find a good dagger eventually (I found a Gull pretty early on which is really luck because I've been running with 231% MF with it)

Make sure to try and get a deathsweb for it. Or hold onto it if you find one with another char.

That's a big if. I heard it's one of the rarest items in the game.

One thing I absolutely hate doing is planning builds around gear. It's why a lot of the builds online are totally useless to me; some are even nothing but gear recommendations and that's it.

They are rare. Espescially to get a -50%/2pnb skills.
I keep one on hand, along with a doom wep (holy freeze), a wizspike, hoto flail, and a suicide branch.
I need to try a poison wolf that has the deaths web as a secondary wep.
A kicksin with a deathweb @ -50% / 1skill / 12 /12 would be sick.

I don't think win98 matters, but I would definitely get PlugY. It has so much more than just the storage.

I took your advice and downloaded and installed the mod and it works great and is easy to use. It is what single player should have from the start. It took me a while to move all my gems and other stuff back to my characters in ATMA V but it was well worth it. I deleted ATMA V and I know I won't miss it. Thanks for the great find.

Maybe I'll see you online sometime. I play USEast under the account name of Darkwing.(ladder and non-ladder)

In my last game I played a poisonmacner as you said. I am trying to do something different, but I am not shure what weapon to imbue for him. So I was using a long sword to get more damage in, but I can only use the poison dagger spell if I have a dagger so I am wundering if I shouldn't even bother using this spell this time. I am finding I am having a very hard time right now so thinking I might need to start using the poison dagger attack more now to make it easier for me.

So how do you guys feel about D3 so far? I just watched some gameplay and it looks pretty solid.

Although, I didn't play much of D2 when I was able to at my friends way back in the day so I don't really have an opinion on the third one yet.

My previous comments on it in this thread pretty much sum up my thoughts, but basically, I'm pretty positive about it. Even if it doesn't end up feeling quite like Diablo, it's still going to be a solid, fun Action RPG/Hack n' Slash game.

I asked what is MF in my last post. For some reason, I don't see me asking that. So I will ask again, what is MF?

Like Cannoli said, it stands for Magic Find, and it's a character's percentage to find magic items.

More MF = increased chance to find rare items, set items, and unique items.

I'm excited, if I can run it. But I'm getting sick of people complaining that Diablo 3 isn't Diablo 2.

I don't like the necromancer being absent either since my favorite D2 builds are necro builds.

I also don't like the direction they're taking with graphics and art. Not saying D2 graphics were great, but I'd much prefer if D3 took a more realistic approach than the artsy approach it did. Whoever's in charge of Blizzard's graphics and art apparently doesn't agree. Still, it's not nearly as bad as the direction they took with WoW.

Agreed. Though if the GFX get any more "realistic" then the game might get an AO slap and the only way to sell the game is via DD

AO is and advlts Only rating and most stores wont sell it and then Digital Distribution is the only way for Blizz to sell the game. Or maybe some store will go rogue and sell it anyway

Why would it get rated AO though?

Good point, but I came to the conclusion that their graphic artists are more capable than this than they are realistic graphics, and those in charge of graphics and art decisions pushed for it. That's only because the graphics of every recent Blizzard release so far, including WoW, has diverted from any sense of realism. That can't be just because of ratings.

A possibility if the "realism" GFX gets over a point

So how do you guys feel about D3 so far?

What I've seen doesn't interest me a great deal so I certainly won't be rushing out to buy the game as soon as it's released. I'll give it some time to settle in with the fans, see what different people say about the game, and eventually decide whether I think it's worth buying or not.

[...] I'm getting sick of people complaining that Diablo 3 isn't Diablo 2.

I haven't seen anybody complain of that. What I have seen a lot of is people with genuine concerns and real opinions being brushed under a rug by elitists who dismiss them all with a wave of a hand. The same thing happened when Oblivion was released; thousands of devout fans of the Elder Scrolls series, like myself, had many real issues with the game, but many fans easily dismissed our opinions as wrong and irrelevant by saying something very similar to what you just said. They said something like "dude, this is the Elder Scrolls 4, not Morrowind 2!" I cannot describe just how ignorant and insulting that really is. I sincerely hope you won't continue using it against people who's only crime is loving Diablo, being disappointed with what they've seen of Diablo III, and caring enough to voice their opinions.

---------------------------------

Now on to more pressing matters! :^) My single player javazon is completely stuck in Act III Hell. It seems like everything in this entire act is immune to lightning! She got lucky and gambled a teleport amulet so she's a little more efficient at running away... but I don't think that's quite good enough. Somehow she's managed to run/teleport and collect Khalim's eye and heart without killing a single monster, but I fear this is the end of the road for her. I hope she enjoys retirement in the Flayer Jungle.

Also, I'm giving a ww barb a break in Act II Hell. I have to leave him alone for awhile so I don't die of boredom. I've always been hesitant to try a serious single player barbarian because I would have to limit myself to only one weapon class, but since the 1.13 patch now lets us respec our characters I figured I'd give a barbarian a shot. I chose sword mastery early in the game and... never had to respec, ever. I found swordguard and plague barer in nightmare, then upgraded them to elite weapons in hell. There's really never been any challenge at all for this guy. I'm bored of him, it's time for a change!

In fact, it's time for a break from Diablo altogether. I'm moving to Seattle next week and I'll be away from Diablo and this forum for two years... See you guys in September 2012! ;^)

I have been playing alot of Diablo II now. I do have a question now that I just got the H Cube.(I can't even remember how to spell it right now, Herodic I think it's called? It's where i can transmute or imbue things) I forget what the recipies are. I forget how to make Rejuvination potions. I thought it was 3 magic 3 health potions but it's not working for me. I never made weapons or anything out of it before, but I would like to do it now.

I think the recipies change from patch to patch. I tried to google recipies and it said if it dosn't work the current patch changed the recipie. Is there a link or site that anyone knows what the current recipies are? What should I try out? What should I try to make? All I know is by adding 3 chipped stones it makes a flawed stone, then 3 flawed stones make a perfect stone, or what ever it's called.

So any help would be appreciated.

I didn't dismiss your opinion as wrong or irrelevant. I'm sure if they made a different version of the horadric cube, that was named and worked in a different way, people would say they thought it was stupid. And why? Because it boils down to it's not the Horadric cube of Diablo 2. Same with the art complaints. It boils down to it doesn't seem the same as Diablo 2. Also I'm sure that if they made the game exactly like Diablo 2 reviewers and gamers would be tired of it. They wouldn't want to play it, because it's just another diablo clone.

...
So any help would be appreciated.

3 regular rejuv potions = 1 full rejuv potion. That's the most useful recipe to me, and I hoard all my full rejuvs for the act bosses.

3 of same type gem = next higher gem. That's my 2nd most useful and used recipe.

Most of the others I have to continually look up because I forget them. You can add sockets, reroll rares and some other things I forget because I rarely do them.
