So I'm in sort of a dilemma, I'm a level 12 mage now and I've been reading a lot about magic and how destruction is underpowered. Right now destruction is working well for me, but people say that it is at level 15 that the scaling goes wrong. I'm now 60 in magika and I'm not sure what to do, continue leveling up destruction or go for conjuration or any of the others?

playing underpowered skills/gear/armor/race is good ,cas its harder and more fun then playing with overpowered or balanced skills/character

Harder difficulty+underpowrered characher = more time spent on game

well if youre not really into master difficulty and wana play for fun you can keep destrucion , its not so bad its just a bit worse , but not BAD . (agree it should scale tough)

But is conjuration better at high level

I had absolutely no problems with destruction yet (lvl 24) in fact I thought it was quite good. Especially with some relevant perks to reduce the amount of magic required for spells, and you can launch quite a few very powerful spells at any enemy. Too be fair though, I also have a very high one handed and block skill just to finish of the enemy that I can't kill with destruction alone.

I'm currently playing a pure mage, level 25 with destruction spell: 67 and magicka pool 442. With difficulty set to expert, I have absolutely no problem burning down things that stand in my way. The only time I find pure-mage being annoying is magicka starving against boss. I'm pretty confident I will do just as well in the later level though.

Edit: the only reason I didn't play on master is that the down time (oom) is too long for my taste.

If you don't mind me asking, how many hours have you played and what have you done to level up? Have you done any professions because I haven't, only side quests and main quests Winterhold etc.
