The disparity between screenshots, and actual gameplay.

It boggles me how different the experience is between watching the screenshots, and playing the game.

I wonder if someone could explain how this works. Looking at the screenshot, I find the scene very realistic, yet when I play the game and look at the same area, the magic disappears. Where is the culprit? Could it be anti-aliasing? I don't think so, rough edges are also visible in the screenshots. Texture quality? It is not very sharp on the screenshots too, so it can't be it. I think the culprit is animation. Even the least obvious one, like moving branches. That is the place where it happens. Could be wrong, what do you think? The smaller the screens are the more realistic the game looks, so I asume the lighting and shading is hyperrealistic, and something else is breaking the experience.

Your thoughts?

You mean the screenshots they show before game was out or? Becouse its normal to make stuff look great and awesome and when you actually get it on your hands it aint that creamy and yummu. If you got my point?

Also you play on consoles or PC because there could be small differences.

This is something that bothers me. A game in a screenshot or a video looks amazing, especially when the person making them has mods, but I can never get the same level of quality in my game. Unfortunately, I am new to computer gaming, so I don't know anything about how to tweak my settings for better looks. At least with this game, I can blame it on the fact that my Graphics Card is just below minimum specs, but I didn't have that luxury with Skyrim or New Vegas.

It's likely the flickering on all the grass and other fine details. Supersampling will fix that, but good luck getting a good framerate with that in this game.

The SS's are just a representation of the game. They're an artistic representation and nothing more.

I should write in more detail. I mean my own screenshots. And I play on PC. The game appears to look better when it is just one frame in form of screenshot. But there are no noticable animations... I guess it might be the flicekring like asgard said. Wonder what else might be causing it.

That's how it is when I play Lord of the Rings Online. I'll take a screenshot and it will look gorgeous, when the actual gameplay looks like a game.

Strange. I think actually game play looks far better than screen shots.
