The Divines and the Stars

For a long time there has been confusion between Magnus and Akatosh in the eyes of scholars. Ancient elven ruins show Auri-El with sun imagery. Yokudan legends tell of Tall Papa arranging the stars. Even the legendary Auriel's Bow is said to gain it's power from the sun. I believe that I have the solution.

The "Celestial Spheres" theory goes against traditional belief, where the Divines live in Aetherius. But what if both theories were true? The Divines are two-fold, existing both on this plane and Aetherius. Their Plane(t)s are just their bodies, and in Aetherius lies their soul. Those who die go to their aligned sphere, be it Aetherius or Oblivion, and the Aedra died creating the world. So the ghost of every Aedra resides in Aetherius, the exception being Shezzar, who gave himself entirely to Mundus. Auri-El's escape of the world in Elven myth is simply his soul on its voyage to Aetherius. One might compare the Aedra to some kind of undead, their soul elsewhere but their half-dead body still moving.

The sun doesn't just supply magic from Magnus, it supplies the influence of the Divines. Thus, Auri-El is associated with the Sun not as its creator, but as its wielder. Though Magnus created the sun, the Falmer associated Auri-El with it, for he used the sun more than Magnus. Imagine a magic weapon, wielded by a legendary hero. When talking about the weapon, more would think of the hero who made it famous instead of the smith who forged it. Likewise, the Redguards hated magic, and would focus more on Tall Papa using them to guide spirits than the god of magic creating them.

In conclusion, I theorize the Divines exist both in Mundus and Aetherius, and their Aetherial influence is felt through the sun and stars.

An interesting theory!
