The DLC is like fallout

I would like to see downloadable expansion packs, about the size of Shivering Isles or Bloodmoon.

But I deal with them being Point Lookout sized, if they are packed with content.

No. I'd much rather have storylines and such than 7 houses and Horse Armor.

He meant the expansions, Shivering Isles and KOTN

I like the fact that theyre leaning more towards large expansions rather than tiny stuff such as oblivions but it would be nice to maybe get new types of ore/armor/weapons maybe even daedric quest every now and then though those would probably come with the expansions.

Just a simple question, from a simple person. Why are we discussing DLC when Skyrim hasn't even been released yet?? Dont get me wrong I am looking forward to everything to do with this game but I cant see the point of discussing DLC at this moment in time

Just letting them know before they wrap up Skyrim and start working on the extra stuff. If no one says anything, they probably wouldn't , but could conceivably think we would be happy to pay for three weapons and a suit of armour, plenty of developers actually do think like that.

I'm disappointed, both dlc games were crap and short (except for "Point Lookout" ) and please don't give us the "real" end of the story on a dlc.

I hope the expansions add depth to the game, mainly by adding guilds, armor types, new perks... ect.

10 new quests, 2 new weapons and 1 new enemy type is not enought.

Todd has said the DLC's will be big like Shivering Isles and not horse armor. When the lead art guy said more like fallout 3 than Oblivion he obviously averaged them all together then averaged all of fallouts together... and came to the conclusion that it will "probably" not "assuredly" that they would be more like Fallout 3. The average Oblivion DLC was a small house mod. The average Fallout DLC had new quests and much more content... so I would say he meant Skyrim DLC's will have more content, and there probably won't be a bunch of lame small ones that don't do much.

I have not even played Fallout but from what I have read about its DLC and what I know Oblivion's DLC to be I would say Fallout is a better way.

So if the DLC might be like those for Fallout 3.... Nothing wrong with that right? The only downside the Fallout DLC's had (Based on my recent playthrough of New Vegas) is that once you entered, you're stuck in that DLC untill you finish it. Which (to me), was kinda disappointing.
but what bothered me the most is that the addition of a DLC to your game really had no impact on the game itself. (other than raising the level cap and adding a somewhat detached piece of world)

I'd really like to see them create a DLC that doesnt feel "added", like it has been in your game all along.
like the expansion of the main gameworld without having to take that specific door, or transportalponder or whatever :P
Addition of new foes to the world would also be a nice touch (and not just the DLC-worldspace please :) ). And maybe the same for items (weapns, armor, etc..)

But enough negative talk. Good things...
The stories! Heck, i loved the operation anchorage DLC story-wise. Same with point lookout and Old world blues (i know, obsidian did that one but still).

And with that in mind, i can't wait to see what they're cooking up for Skyrim :)

Edit:
I just realise i just described some sort of mix between the FO3 DLC and OB Expansions :P

As long as there are no 'linear' DLCs like anchorage and mothership zeta I'll be happy. I would have preferred them create just one or two proper expansions but sadly they are being killed off by game marketing.

DLC will be, in terms of size, between Shivering Isles for Oblivion and Point Lookout for Fallout 3 - which is something I'm fine with: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1225159-skyrim-dlcexpansion-pack-between-point-lookout-and-shivering-isles/page__p__18444460#entry18444460

So, DLC will not exactly be like Fallout 3. Todd said before that it was a chaotic mess and that he'd rather prefer bigger and fewer DLCs that have a closer feeling to an expansion pack.

I'd much prefer new storylines with items and more to explore than a house and some armor for a horse I don't ride.

I want expansions, only with them will they be able to implement new interesting things instead of a small update to the world with a few hours of quests.

I like it better like Fallout. Bigger DLC is much better than a bunch of small pointless things like horse armor and the orrery. More Shivering Isles, less Spell Tomes.

I take the dev comments about DLC to mean simply they are not planning an expansion quite as large as Shivering Isles, but larger than KOTN.

I'm disappointed, I'd rather want a lengthy well written main quest with tons of sidequests and NPC's along with a greatly sized new landscape.
Instead we get [censored] DLC's that cannot support that much content just cause Bethesda cares more about making a quick buck than about giving us great content.
We do get more variety with smaller DLC's, but I don't see the point with it. Point Lookout and The Pitt were perfect examples of this, their unique feel was wasted on the 800MSP DLC design, The Pitt could have been an entire game, the city was so unique and had so much potential, instead it became a 5 hour ride and left me craving more.
So I think that Bethesda wants to try out new stuff, give a greater variety while at the same time making a nice profit.
But it's flawed in my opinion as the content isn't enough for an RPG.

Ballad of the gay Dovahkiin :goodjob:

Ahem

Grand Theft Alduin V: Ballad of Gay Dovahkiin

But honestly yeah, I am happy they're taking a more fallouty approach to DLC's, as IMO the fallout DLC's far outmatched the Oblivion DLC's

I want expansions that allow me to continue with a character I'd otherwise say was 'done', like in Morrowind where Tribunal offered a pretty long continuation of the Nerevarine's story with substantial amounts of awesome (meeting the rest of the Tribunal (or what was left of it), seeing the capital of Morrowind and so on).
If DLC is nothing but houses and equipment it doesn't add anything to your high-level character, since having a house doesn't mean crap if you're out of quests.

trust me you don't want that fallout had five dlc's and you could wipe out three of them in ten hours no problem... shivering isles from OB was 30 hours and it was better than the actual game. the expansion pack itself won awards thats how awesome it was. then there was knights of then nine and that was about 13 hours and it was great as well then five or so houses and then horse dlc for armor.. i would way rather have expansions like OB but i guess i am in the minority

Shivering Isles was an expansion pack, like Brood War for Starcraft, or The Lost Chapters for Fable... it wasn't a "DLC".

Knights of the Nine was roughly comparable to Point Lookout, the Pitt, or Broken Steel.

Each of the house DLC could be completed in just as many hours.

Horse Armor was a joke.

I hope Skyrim does have some DLC like Battlehorn castle, though.
