I'm going to purposely get in a fight at school, kick someone's ass, and yell "JOEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!" It won't be cool, in fact it would just be awkward for everyone. This is exactly how I feel when Dovakiin yells "Dovakiin!"

that's because "joey" isn't a cool name. if your name was like DEATHMEAT wouldn't you want to shout that at every available opportunity?

it was there for...i don't want to say dramatic effect because it was more comedic than anything but i'm pretty much positive it won't be an actual thing in the game. they've said numerous times the shouts are the only instances of player voice and that they're more grunts than actual words.

Well I don't really have an opinion on the scream itself. Only on the voice, and it's: FINALLY we get a NORMAL voice. It sounds like an average person. That's awesome. I hated the nords and ocrs in Oblivion, because their voice felt like they tried to make it TOO deep

This guy sounds like a tall, avergaer sized guy who spent a lot of time in the cold (remember cold air DOES damage your throat after a while)

The civilized world is far different from a barbaric setting like Nirn. You are Dovakiin, dragon born. You have the soul of a dragon. When a dragon kills his prey, he's likely going to roar in triumph. It is not only cool, but its in your very blood to do such a thing. Just like a lion roars after an epic hunt, the Dovahkiin roars after defeating one of his kin in an epic battle.

Its not as silly as you may think. Its the animal in us that makes us want to do it. Its your primal side.

Its you shouting to the heavens like the highlanders did: THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE.

they go ape [censored], and scream and yell and its just all adrenaline and its in our DNA to do that.

When I noticed he shouted out Dovahkiin I thought, hmm that is kind of weird....

I'm all for battle shouts, but screaming out dragon born just seemed strange to me.

What if absorbing a dragon's soul requires a dragon shout itself though?

DEATHMEAT would be the best name ever. all caps, always shouted. you'd be in a waiting room and the receptionist calls out "DEATHMEAT?" and you'd strut into the doctor's office with a Gregorian choir following you. somebody somewhere would strum a power chord at that precise moment.

It seems to fit with the theme. Killing two dragons would probably make a guy feel pretty good about himself.

That said, I'd settle for the Dovahkiin slaying the dragon, turning around, putting on some sunglasses, and walking away slowly as the monster explodes.

When I hear "DEATHMEAT", I'm thinking Adoring Fan getting clobbered by the player over and over again. "DEATH" in the name may be good but the "MEAT" part sounds like they are on the receiving end of it (death) instead of the one delivering it, IMO. Sort of like ~~"FRAGBATE"~~ "FRAGBAIT".
"DEATHDEALER" or "DEATHBRINGER" may work better, although aren't original.

i like the idea a lot
it seems really conan-ish and badass
but i didnt care for the voice
just sounded... off to me
maybe we can choose from some voices?
but i think it was just a way for them to end the demo and not actually be in the game, but who knows

HAHA i agree deathmeat all the way i agree with the rest of youre post as well .Funny thing i have seen fights where the winner yells there last name and now you no who such and such is and you dont mess with such and such .But i dont think it an in game feature.

I thought it was badass, i've never quite understood why people had such a big problem with it.

I am my character, If I could trigger the shout by pressing a key it would be really awesome, the fact my character does things by himself is not.

I have the same issue with finishing moves, Im fine with them only if I can trigger them.

I still don't get why he would choose to yell "DOVAHKIIN!", "Dovahkiin" is his title, it's who he is.

But on topic, I think it sounded incredibly lame. I really hope it can be modded out. If it's not I can see it being the next joke like "criminal scum" was for Oblivion.

YES. THIS is the exact scene I thought of when I saw the Dovaahkiin do the battlecry thing after killing the dragons. That scene in highlander (after he finally kills his archenemy) is still just as amazing as it was all those years ago.
