Is the Dovahkiin Hat the new Wrist Irons?

Post » Fri Aug 19, 2011 5:17 pm

The Dovahkiin Hat, as I like to call it has been seen on numerous occasions, and we see it on the board day in, day out. However, I'm hoping the D-Hat is similar to the wrist irons, meaning there is only one version of it in the game but fairly easy to get. I don't want to walk around and say to myself "I wub my Dovahkiin Hat!" and hearing "Yup, me too!" "I like it myself!" "I bought mine brand new for 2 septims!" "Sold my 3rd one to an Imperial feller".

Can the D-Hat please be a rare item? I would be ecstatic if Bethesda could say so.

If you're talking about his horned helmet that we always see him in then I hope so too but it will almost definitely not be one of a kind

There's nothing special about it. I think it's a steel helmet or something. You can see Todd loot it from a chest in the quakecon footage, that we all legally saw because we were there, right? RIGHT!?

edit: Yup. "Steel Plate Helmet".

Maybe the old iron cuffs will return though? Or maybe we'll get a black hood to cover our head before we're done in.

There's...nothing special....about it? It's a horned helmet! It's been used by the Dovahkiin in all of Beth's marketing! It feels like it is THE hat of choice by the Dovahkiin. Hell, if there was such a thing as a Citadel, Dovahkiin would say it's his favorite hat in the Citadel.

Dovahkiin:Yeah, the horned one.

Steel Armor is shown on the Champion of Cyrodiil in all the pictures of Oblivion.

I hardly believe that helm will be anything special.

Every time I read this thread title I get a mental image of Dovahkiin getting really pissed off at his badass helmet being called a hat. :P

Hate to have to be the one to say this but those are two different helmets. Notice the one he is wearing at the beginning of the demo and shown in almost every other Dovahkiin picture (including the background) doesn't have a strange protrusion at the top. It is also pictured in the earliest giant spider screen.

Maybe you can smith it and have the horns sticking upwards.

Wouldn't it be great if the horns were smihting items acquired from killing a certain beast and you could smith them onto daedric helms?

That's like saying the Champion of Cyrodills Choice of armor would be the Imperial legion Armor:/
Honestly, An Argonian wearing that horned helmet would look like an Idiot.

My guess is that it's probably an iron helmet or something.

And you could get more wrist irons in Oblivion if you had the Mehrunes Razor DLC.

Actually, the wrist irons will be the new wrist irons! Take a second look at this picture:

It is the iron helmet, so it is actually useful to characters. Not like the wrist irons, which you have to make useful after a long time.
I don't think an iron helmet would be rare though... (it shouldn't, that wouldn't make any sense)

Yeah, no, sorry. Those are not wrist-irons (manacles, shackles, what have you), those are wrist-leather. Leather Bracers.

Actually i think the dovahkiin hat is a gift from the greybeards just a basic helmet modified by something from a dragon or another animal.

That looks more like leather bands

At any rate I doubt it. I mean it's totally possible but for some reason I don't think so.

We all want it to be, but I see is as being slightly different than the "steel plate helmet." Because of what has been said already, it's slightly different, or we hope it is. One-of-a-kind would be great.. None of us want to walk into a bandit camp/town and see everyone wearing one.

Honestly, It is probably just an iron helmet...

You'll fight bandits with the same hat as you. You could line shelves with them. People in taverns will drink mead out of them.

They'll be errywhere!!
