The dragon blood

Post » Mon Apr 08, 2013 2:01 pm

So I was thinking since I'm the dragonborn and the dragons blood runs through my veins just as it did for talos/ alessia and the septim dynasty, shouldn't that make me( dovakiin) the rightful heir to the throne?

No. Their claim to the throne was the ability to wear the Amulet of Kings and light the Dragonfires.

That is no longer necessary, meaning a Dragonborn has no claim to the ruby throne.

Doesn't mean they can't make a successful bid for it.

his claim to the throne is the fact he can murder half a country in a half hour.

But if I(dovakiin) relight the fires that would restore the barrier between tamriel and all planes of oblivion so my rightful place would be at the throne

no, only reason then Dragonborn's had the right to the throne is because only they could wear the Amulet of Kings and light the Dragon Fires

However:

Spoiler
in Oblivion, after Emperor Uriel Septim was killed by the Mythic Dawn , the Dragon Fires began to burn out. the Purpose of the Dragon Fires was to prevent Daedra from directly entering our world. by the Time Martin Septim recovered the Amulet of Kings and was acknowledged as the true heir by Chancellor Ocato (and the rest of the Elder Council), the flames had entirely burnt out. as a result, Mehrunes Dagon, his Army of Daedra, and Mythic dawn Pawns Marched into the Imperial city.

as soon as The Prince of Destruction Entered our world, Martin was about to declare it a lost cause. however, he and his follower (who after the battle would be remembered as "The Champion of Cyrodill") marched into "the Temple of the One". upon mixing Martins blood with the Amulet of Kings he became the Avatar of Akatosh, defeated Dagon, and became a statue in the temple of the one. the power radiateing from this statue gave off the same Magic as the Dragon Fires, meaning Dragon Fires were no longer needed.

So, now that the Dragon Fires are no longer needed, you no longer have a claim to the throne simply because you are Dragonborn.

You can't. The Amulet of Kings was destroyed when Martin sacrificed himself. His covenant with Akatosh is what keeps the Daedra out of Tamriel.

Of course, the random Imperial peasant wouldn't care about that and maybe if someone came shouting and proclaiming he was Dragonborn, they would help him secure the Ruby Throne and proclaim him emperor.

but After Martin became the Avatar of Akatosh, and became that statue, that statue is apparently gives off the same energy as the Dragon Fires

But you see, there is nothing to inherit. Reman's empire is different from Septim's empire and it can be argued that Mede's empire is a different entity from Septim's.

You as Dragonborn cannot and will not inherit the empire. You can lead your own army to take over, but you will not inherit anything.

How so? Just because he is Dragonborn?

Might as well say Miraak is also a potential heir.

Well the dragonborn has saved the nirn twice and can destroy all I Tamriel just by spamming one shout (storm call) I don't see why they wouldn't hand him the throne, better than him doing it by force

actually, if just being Dragonborn did give the right, it would be Miraak. it is traditionaly the eldest child that would be given the throne after all.

You're exaggerating the capability of Storm Call. Sure it's quite powerful but that doesn't make the Dragonborn any less mortal.
