But Mehrunes Dagon had another set of antagonists for you - the Mythic Dawn. Humans who thought the world would somehow be a better place with Daedra charging out of portals and proceeding to stomp and burn everything in sight, as aforementioned. This allowed the player a set of subtler quests for the main storyline - infiltrate, assassinate, follow, glean information from - that made a nice counterpart to the daedra slaughtering parts.
But, you all already knew this. My point, and my question for you, is: Will the Dragons in Skyrim have a mortal faction to serve them?
Dragons, as you know, are quite large. Which makes tasks like getting through a door stealthily quite difficult indeed. It would make sense for them to have worshippers - or even just assassins, promised fantastical rewards if they bring them the Dovahkin's head.
I see three likely possibilities:
1. The Dragons have Dragonkin to serve them - smaller, humanoid mutations of dragons that have made appearences in other rpgs. Alternatively, the humanoids could be another species we haven't heard an inkling of before.
2. Human cultists and/or Assassins. I see this as the most likely possibility as they would lend the Dragons the same aptitude for subtlety that the Mythic Dawn lent Mehrunes Dagon.
3. No mortal servants (other than mudcrabs of course). If this possibility comes to pass, it means the Dragons are do-it-yourself types, or they just despise mortals altogether, to the point where they won't attempt to enllist their aid.
