The Dragon Slayers Discussion Thread

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:30 am

This is the discussion thread for the new RP. I feel like I am leaving something out of that OP, but I don't know what it is. Anyway, please join up. This will be very fun once we get into it.

Alright guys, so Agito, Uglius, and Half Tooth should all have their characters in within the next few days. I have to make mine as well.

Try not to "leave" the little King's meeting. I will be giving you a short briefing once a few more people get their posts up. Then we can be on our way and go to where the dragon sighting was (where we will...hopefully...encounter some dragons ;) ).

It depends on how many people we have. If we have six, then I may or may not split people into groups of 3. It also depends on what you guys all want to do, of course.

I think this will go Smoother if we're all in one group, as I expect dragons to actually be Difficult to kill, even for a half-dozen skilled warriors.

And I'm going to make our characters use their brains, rather than just blasting random fireballs everywhere. It should be quite interesting.

Yeah its not like we're going to run up and poke him in the face with a claymore, we're going to have to trick them or devise traps and what not.

Also is anyone else going to post? I want to get this thing rolling so i can get my mind of CI, just had a 1500 word post get deleted before i could post it. :(

History: Revis was born in Valenwood in the great roving Graht-Oak capitol of Falinesti. He was trained as a ranger, and embarked upon many campaigns under the well-famed ranger Captain Sannes Vallen, direct relative to the Royal Family. After several years, he was inducted as an Endblade to combat first the Scourges of Black Marsh and the Summerset Coast, then later the Daedra threat. Few oblivion Gates opened in Valenwood, as it was far from an Ideal Target for the Daedra, and so he was given several dozen recruits and sent to fight in mainland Morrowind. Though the closed several gates in coordination with house Redoran's standing armies, but nonetheless, Morrowind was left in ruin. Revis was then sent north, to Solstheim to combat a growing threat of Lycanthrope's, but his mission quickly changed with the arrival of the Dragons to Skyrim.

One thing wrong with this Sannes Vallen. The oblivion crisis is during the last years of the 3rd Era, this RP is set in the 204th year of the 4th Era, and your char is only 90 years old. Just thought I would point that out to you so you could change it.

Nice post though :goodjob:

Ah. Blech. Will Fix. Thanks for the heads up. It takes a bit of getting used to, the new game being set 200 years in the future.

Fixed it. I hate my characters being THAT old, even if elves are known to live well over a thousand years, but oh well. I'll say he spent about a third of that 200 years traveling. I think I just won't bring up his background from that time all that much, as I hate having to make things up on the spot, 'ya know.

Ah, crap. That's my fault. Didn't catch that on the sheet when he sent it. It looked good, but I was in a small hurry, therefore I didn't read the whole bio (more skimming over it), since it looked perfectly non-uber and fine.

As long as it's not "he was a big Nord, this dude killed his mom, and then he killed 20 bandits with his bare hands" then I am certainly fine with it, for the most part.

Alright. I have a few more sheets that have been sent to me that I am approving and they will be posting soon. I shall create my own tomorrow.

A fair warning to everyone: uber a lot and I will kill you. A dragon will come out of the sky, grab you with his talons, and carry you away never to be seen again. Or he may eat you or burn you alive, or rip your arms off and let you drop from hundreds of yards up into the deep mountains and valleys of Skyrim.

Finally got my character worked into a form acceptable to the RP. I tried not to let the hyperlinks to TvTropes show in my description of Davian Hawkstar... though I realized he does look a lot like the Crazy Awesome Redshirt Ace that's Too Cool To Live (At least to me :hehe: ). But subverted tropes are always fun too. I might play that angle up just for fun, as long as he doesn't make the game unfun by overshadowing everyone else in the team, or trivializing the plot.

There will be no one man or woman taking down the dragons. The dragon uses its head, feet, tail, claws, and even wings as weapons. It's damn dangerous. The characters will have to work together. Arrogant knights will have to learn with other people. :P

Davian Hawkstar's aware of that. He's confident, but not stupid. Worrying about defeat is not good for anyone's health.

And can you please take of the Robes of the Inquisition and put away the flamethrower? We're all experienced RPers here, not nooby witches.

Also... I am adding the mild destructive magic discussed earlier to Davian Hawkstar's trained skills. It won't be stepping on any of our other player's toes, and I want to have fun with this guy.

Why not right now? Will the ability to fling fist-sized bolts of fire or electrify his fists really risk "Breaking the game"?

So He has a Masters degree in Kicking ass. He's going to need it if he wants to stand a chance of besting a Dragon, even with others' help.

... he's not the only one. Cyrus the Wanderer, the Champion of Cyrodiil, the Nerevarine, and Hero of All Time all had PhDs in that field, so I'm not breaking lore.

Being a one-man-army isn't all that rare in Tamriel.

Due to the fantastic nature of the setting... armies have a tendency to be surprisingly incompetant when not supported by a PC.
