The Dragonborn: Legend, Hero, Idol, image for TES?

Post » Sat May 25, 2013 9:14 am

I love TES: Skyrim, but I am disappointed with how the storyline is belittled because Bethesda is moving on with their next adventure. My main concern is the role of the Dragonborn after the events of Skyrim. I am not done playing the Dragonborn yet, defeating Alduin was good, winning the Skyrim Civil War was great, his/her triumph over Hakon the Vampire Lord is amazing, and fighting and defeating Miraak (the first Dragonborn) was outstanding!!!!!

I believe the Dragonborn's role in TES should expand far beyond a single game. He/She is destined for far more than what they have done so far. Not to mention they should be able to do something about the Thalmor problem. I believe the Dragonborn should unite all of Tamriel against the Thalmor, and wage a climatic war upon them. And then to top it off, launch a full-scale invasion of Summerset Isles as chaotic and great as the Invasion of Normandy (D-Day) during real life WWII, or like the invasion of Troy by the Greeks during the Trojan War. And it would all end with the Dragonborn beheading the leader of the Thalmor.

With the Thalmor extinguished, and ALL of Tamriel united, peace shall be declared, and the Dragonborn could be hailed as the greatest hero since Tiber Septim himself. And during the whole struggle with the Thalmor, the Mede dynasty of the Empire may be destroyed by the conflict with the Thalmor, and Tamriel will want a new Emperor. They could elect the Dragonborn as the new Emperor and start a brand new line of Dragonborn Emperors just like the Septim dynasty.

My point is that Bethesda could give the Dragonborn more spotlight. The least they could have done was do at least ONE last DLC that could at least involve the Dragonborn being recruited by the Empire to start a brand new war against the Thalmor. I don't want the Dragonborn to be big in this single game, and then suddenly thrown away like trash just like any other character in previous games. The Dragonborn (thanks to TES: Skyrim) has become an irreplaceable idol for TES. I don't want him to die off. I mean, Uriel Septim VII appeared in the first four games, why not allow a new character exceed more than one game?

No and No, I'd rather the dragonborn go the route of the other TES heroes and disappear.

you do realize voting No for both of those means you DO want Dragonborn to continue o.o

OT: I don't really want to see Dragonborn beyond Skyrim.

I wouldn't mind another DLC for Skyrim, but I would not want him/her to return to the next game. (in addition, it would kind of be hard to implement a "already super-powered, good at everything hero" as your starting character for the next game)

I kind of want the next Main character to be less "Destined Hero with super powers", True Heroes aren't born with an advantage to the next mortal.

Can't really leave out the Prophesied part of the hero though, since it kind gets rid of the point of The Elder Scrolls

The most we'll get is some book references of The Last Dragonborn, leaving out the race, name, and occupation besides destroying Alduin, maybe some mention of him/her joining Hermaeus Mora in his realm as his/her fate.

We're running out of good retirement homes for old heroes, though. The Nerevarine got Akavir, Oblivion guy got... Oblivion, I guess... the poor old Dragonborn is gonna get stuck freezing his horned helmet off in Atmora.

Whatever happened to the Dragonborn will probably have something to do with the ending of the Dragonborn DLC. Classic enantiomorph.. with a Daedric Prince involved..

I want to be a mortal champion, I hate this "HERO OF LEGEND" theme.

There's no way we'll be seeing the Dragonborn in any future games, at least in an identifiable mortal form.

The Eternal Champion just kinda....vanished, as did the Agent. Skyrim left us with many ways our Dragonborn could have died/dissapeared.

The Dragonborn has become an irreplaceable figure for the Elder Scrolls series. He should accomplish much more on Nirn than he already has. Especially where the Empire and the rest of Tamriel is concerned, the Thalmor have a sinister chokehold on the Empire and all who they feel superior to. The answer is that Tamriel needs a new "Tiber Septim" to defend and unite it....the can only be the Dragonborn, definately since Tiber Septim himself was a Dragonborn.

In other words, only a Dragonborn can accomplish what Tiber Septim would've wanted for Tamriel. I sincerely doubt that the Dragonborn will be killed by or transformed into a Daedric prince. If you are implying that he actually becomes Hermaeus Mora's champion like the Daedric Lord wanted the Dragonborn to be, than that is just foolish!!! As far as I'm concerned, Hermaeus Mora is the Dragonborn's arch nemesis, because of the way he tries to control and manipulate the Dragonborn, and insists that their free will is an illusion.

This is why the Bethesda crew should have spent more time on Skyrim, make one more DLC that can tie up what the Dragonborn will be involved with in the post-Skyrim events. Or if its possible, make the Dragonborn the protagonist in another game....or have the Dragonborn have a big and important role in the next few games, just like Uriel Septim VII had a large role in the first four games.

Dragonborn... he cannot simply disappear... he is the only one worthy of ruling the empire. His daedric influence with HM will prove interesting, but it will allow the dragonborn to become a master strategist, politician and philosopher basically overnight... three things any emperor needs to be. The Dominion will no doubt try to compete but will fail. My bet is that word of the Dragonborn's true master will see him overthrown/killed after reuniting the empire. Daedric influence will return (since the DB is the champion of a daedra and others if he so chooses.

As for the "stuff of legend and prophecy". Prophecy is minor and major and it simply "comes" to seers. If you are indeed the "one", you can still avoid or fail destiny as the many nerevarines to come before the hero of Morrowind.

The heroes are always mortal. Unless you became Sheogorath.

Maybe your Dragonborn sees Mora as his arch nemesis, but someone else's might not. The empire doesn't need a Dragonborn emperor anymore after Martin's sacrifice, either.

The problem with having the Dragonborn in another elder Scrolls game is that you'd pretty much have to start from scratch since I doubt there would be a reliable way to transfer saves between games(among other problems), at least not for the Xbox players (I dunno about the PS4's specs). It's been said many times already that there is absolutely no chance of more DLC for Skyrim, either.

Having the Dragonborn playing a prominent role in the next game wouldn't work either because you'd have to avoid showing a specific gender or race. There may be ways to circumvent this problem(dialogue options), but you still might not be able to meet them in person.

Whether or not s/he goes on to do other things we'll have to wait and see in the next game, but if they do chances are it'll be off screen.

Yes, I do mind. The sooner the dragonborn is forgotten the better.

Aside from Miraak/Dragonborn/Herma-Mora enantiomorphic event, I don't think anything will be canonized regarding Mora's pursuit of the Last Dragonborn.

The Dragonborn's story was done when s/he defeated Alduin. Everything after that was simply coincidence that the Dragonborn happened to be there to help resolve the problem. S/he doesn't need to meddle in the affairs of the world any longer, imo.

Honestly, having the Dragonborn return in a future game would just annoy me. They don't need to get another Tiber Septim figure, that's just boring. Have the Thalmor get ousted by other Meri nationals/reformers like a French Revolution kind of thing, except instead of going from kingdom to republic it'll go from kingdom to well, empire. I just really want a Mer empire.

Paarthurnax and the Greybeards both said that defeating Alduin "would not be the only thing you will mark upon this world. That means that the Dragonborn is destined to do way more than just defeat Alduin.

Oh, and you really think the Empire doesn't need a Dragonborn Emperor? Well with the disastrous end of the Great War, and the Markarth Incident, the Civil War and unrest in Skyrim, and the Empire being forced to prohibit the worship of Talos, I suppose this is what you call a peaceful society?!? And this all took root when the Septim Dynasty ended. With no Dragonborn Emperor, there is no hope left for Tamriel. I don't know what got you so resentful towards the Dragonborn and his predecessors, but let me tell you this....it's NOT pleasant.

Damn trick question. you almost got me.

Yes, I do mind. The player character should never be canonized... ever. The LDB seals his fate with Hermaues Mora and in the process ascends to some degree of Godhood or whatever.
