The Drunken Dragon 4

Laurana grinned back at him. "Thanks." She whispered. Nervously approaching the front of the inn, Laurana unstrapped her harp and gently held it in her right hand as with her left she pulled a bar stool towards herself to sit on.
"Um...hello everybody, uh I'm Laurana Vandacia and I'm going to play you some songs this evening." She announced in a voice that she really hoped sounded professional but was actually probably a bit squeaky. She glanced around the Inn to see if anyone had noticed, but quickly looked down. Come on Laurana, you can do this. She told herself over and over. You've played in front of people all your life and you get nervous on this one, why? She knew the answer but wouldn't actually admit it to herself. "The first song will be a traditional bard trail song, which most of you will probably know." Alright I can do this, I can do this. Laurana was still worrying until her fingers hit the first note, and she immediately forgot about the people watching her. As the second note began, Laurana began to sing, in a clear even voice.

"On and on the trail goes
And never shall it cease
On over the horizon
Into the dying sun
The trail takes us through the mighty mountains
Down the winding slopes and across the lush fields
Over the majestic elven bridges and through the maze of trees
The trail continues under our feet
But for a bard the trail never ends
It goes on and on and on
Into the majestic sunset, where the bards live forever in the soaring skies..."

As the last notes were finished Laurana gently replaced her harp on her lap and said, "Thank you."

Arnandre, having forgotten all about the Dark Elf, clapped merrily at Laurana's performance.

"Bravo! Bravo! It's not often we have the privelige of a merry bard in the ol' Drunken Dragon. Oh no, it isn't often at all."

Arnandre, all previous confrontations ignored, smiled at his friends and the Dark Elf. "Don't you all think that was simply splendid?"

Kaznec stood up and also clapped

"Bravo, exellent, perfect," Kaznec smiled widely, it was an exellent preformance. Kaznec pulled out another small bag of coins and placed it on the table to give to her when she got back, everyone eles here seemed to like it also.

Arnandre settled down into his chair.

"You know... we have a glorious Bard here to entertain us today, and I have some glorious Brandy here to drink. I think the only thing missing is some glorious dinner!"

Arnandre stood and walked over to the bar. A few moments later he returned, carrying two plates. One had a Sweetroll on it, the other a dish of cold Shepherd's Pie - The Drunken Dragon was quite ramshackle, like most Blackwood condtructions, and as such had no device for the heating of food.

Arnandre sat down. He moved the Sweetroll plate to one side and placed the pie in front of him. He touched the plate, warming the Shepherd's Pie up, and poured himself a glass of Cyrodiilic Brandy. With a hot dinner, a tasty drink, a delicious pudding for afterwards and a spectacular Bard playing, Arnandre picked up his knife and fork then tucked in merrily.

------------------------------------

OOC: If anybody wonders why Arnandre always drinks Cyrodiilic Brandy, it's because it is the only drink in the game that does not lower neither Intelligence nor Willpower. I don't care if it's a quest item, he has to drink something other than potions :P

Leona smiled, although she had never liked music much. She was happy to have the bard to distract everyone.

At least this lowers the chance of someone noticing my eyes a little bit.

"Indeed we do." Kenjatsu said with a small smile. He got up off his chair, walked over to the table where the Bard sat and placed a small bag of coins on the table. Kenjatsu then walked back over to the table he sat and took another bite of his mutton. He could not forget the words of the Bard though..

"There were monsters and vampires and things you should only see in a bad dream.."

Not all Vampires are bad.. Kenjatsu thought to himself as he glanced at Leona. He was still Slightly angry at her for 'feeding' on him but at the same time he could not hold it against her. When you have to feed, you have to feed.. Kenjatsu thought to himself. Maybe one of these days if she ever feeds on me again, might let myself become a Vampire.. Kenjatsu thought to himself.. He was tired of going to the chapels to pray for healing or curing and the thought of immortality made him smile briefly. Whatever the cost..

Arnandre, having quickly eaten the Shepherds Pie, was now neatly slicing up his Sweetroll, and he noticed that Kenjatsu had an odd expression on his face.

"You are confused about something." Arnandre announced. He leaned back in his chair, smiled with satisfaction, ate a piece of the Sweetroll, then had a large coughing fit.

"Where's my sweetroll?" Kenjatsu said with a laugh even though that wasn't the reason why he was confused. Does look good though.. Kenjatsu thought to himself then saw Arnandre coughing and got up. "Are you alright?" Kenjatsu said with a worried tone to his voice.

OOC: Yep, the sweetroll thing was random ^_^ Was going to have it on OOC but decided to leave it IC. Besides, Kenjatsu doesn't mind a sweetroll every now and then :P

"Splendid...well, I suppose you could call it that. I'm not a fan of music.
As for the Mythic Dawn...well, I know a few things. I was not aware that the Mythic Dawn was common knowledge, however."
Just then the door creaked open and shut, but no-one entered.
The elf glanced at the door briefly before returning his gaze to the group.
"If you'll excuse me, I have to, uh, check my lodgings."
He walked upstairs and disappeared around the corner.

Laurana blushed at the unexpected attention and praise from the Inn's customers.
"Thank you, that is one of my favourite songs... it's the one my mother taught me..." Her eyes seemed to suddenly look out, as if she was not in the Tavern anymore. Like she was actually hundreds of miles away. A sudden cough from one of the Inn's patrons brought her swiftly back to reality, but for a moment Laurana didn't realise where she was.
"Oh...um I think I'll take a break now and continue playing later." She said softly, quietly standing up and sitting back at her table. She didn't even pick up the money that was sitting blissfully on her table. She just stared at the rough wooden table, following one of the grain's in the wood with her finger. Laurana shivered and immediately pulled her hood up over her head, hiding her face within the cowl.

"No, no... I'm fine. Just went down the wrong way." Arnandre said, gasping. "Feel free to have the rest, though."

The door opened and closed quietly, and the Dark Elf said he was to check his lodgings. Arnandre frowned at this, and so as soon as the Elf was out of earshot, he cast a Detect Life spell...

...and saw another person walking up the stairs with the Dark Elf.

The elf entered his room, closing the room and sat on the bed.
"Greet the new day, brother", he said.
And with that said, and a male Breton in dark crimson robes materialised.
"How goes the mission?" Asked the dark elf.
"As I'm sure you know, Kvatch is destroyed. I have been assigned with another agent, who is somewhere in the area, to open an Oblivion Gate outside Leyawiin."
"Good. The plan commences."
"Yes. Leyawiin is remote and has a small guard. It will be taken easily, like Kvatch."
The elf allowed himself a satisfied smile.
"Soon we will be elevated above the weak. But I have some unfortunate news."
"What?"
"It seems the Mythic Dawn's plans are not as secret as we thought. A Breton mage downstairs...has..studied us, and he has guessed that we would, you know, so that our Lord can cross into Nirn."
The Breton's expression darkened.
"Should we kill him?"
"Perhaps. But that...reptile...also knows, and has read books one and two, of, those books."
"Anyone else?"
"There was a suspicious looking khajiit. She didn't say a word. Could be a spy. She didn't look like a normal khajiit, but, probably nothing."
"The Master must know of this. You should travel back to Harrow and let him know...but do we kill them? It's risky business."
"They don't seem like the sort to take action, but perhaps we should. I must complete my mission though before I tell Harrow."

Kenjatsu noticed Arnandre's frown and looked in the direction the dark elf went. Then he looked back at Arnandre and said "Did you trust that person?" Kenjatsu said with a quite tone to his voice.

"Not one bit. Remember how he seemed surprised how well we knew of the Mythic Dawn, almost worried? He's probably with them. Especially considering that somebody invisible just walked inside the Inn and is sitting chatting with that Dark Elf right now."

Arnandre gazed upwards, towards the rooms.

"Sadly, we can't listen in. Too risky."

Leona frowned.

"One of the problems is that if he is one of them and he thinks we know to much...he may want us to be gone." Her frown grew as she spoke.

I'm a vampire I already have enough people trying to kill me. The last thing I need is the Mythic Dawn trying to kill me as well.

OOC: It think I'll spice this up a bit. :)

IC: Then the inn's doors once again slammed open. A pale faced wood elf entered the bar and collapsed onto the floor. His face was blood spattered, his torso covered with open, bleeding wounds. His knife clanked onto the floor next to him, an empty quiver slung upon his back. His breathing came in short ragged breaths, and as he turned on to his back a long, deep cut was visible across his chest. It was clear he would not live much longer to all the patrons, and also to himself, so he opened his eyes and and muttered, "Ah, my days are numbered." And he lay there. Can anyone save him?!?

The Imperial drunkard, Niall, staggered out of the toilets. "Whadidi miss...hic...oh my God, a dying elf!! I'll perform my CPR!"
With this, he collapsed to his knees and began breathing into the elf's mouth, probably causing him alcohol poisoning. He then proceeded to punch the elf's chest heavily until he was pulled away by bewildered onlookers. Through drunken tears, he cried "I just wanted to help! Why does everything I touch turn to hell! That's it, I'm never drinking again!". And with that, he collapsed on top of the elf, cutting off his air supply...

OOC: I haven't been on this in a while. And no, Niall is not going to be some random drunk. I hope to develop him, so don't dismiss him immediately!

"Oh well.." Kenjatsu said before taking a sip of his ale. "Excuse me, my bottle is empty. Be right back." Kenjatsu said, faking a frown. He put the still full bottle down on the table and went over into the shadows in which he drank a bottle that would turn him invisable for a short period of time.. He snuck up the stairs and saw the Dark Elf with a Breton that was wearing red robes. So. You are one of the mythic dawn, huh? Kenjatsu thought to himself, growling silently. Then he heard the door downstairs slam open and a thud on the floor. Then an Imperial began yelling. By the sounds of how the voice sounded, the Imperial was probably drunk.

Please dont give my position away! Kenjatsu thought to himself as he froze where he stood, not daring to move while he was watching the Dark Elf and Breton..

As the elf lies upon the ground contemplating how many sins it takes to be sent to Oblivion, his breathing scarce for the fat, ugly Impeirial upon him he is taken up by a sudden impulse. The knife soon was in his hands, lifting it so that he might make to stab the Impeirial. But instead, he cuts open a pouch attatched to his empty quiver, the contents spilling onto the floor next to him. He sees his small fragile bottle of the elixir the mage had given him so long ago, and managed to choke out, "I have brought it back for you. Just like I promised, Kenjatsu.." He raised the man off his chest, adrenaline kicking in and demanded in a wavering voice, "Kenjatsu! I have brought it at last!" And with that he slammed up the stairs in desperation, eager to fufill his promise before death consumed him.

Leona spun around as the door crashed open and someone who was clearly dieing entered.

Then some drunk Imperial came and tryed to help by punching him very hard in the chest over and over. Idiot...

Then the injured one actually got to his feet and managed to speak a little.

What does he mean? What has he brought to Kenjatsu? Hmm..

The khajiit continued to watch.

Storming up the stairs in such a haste that only the gods could believe it possible, the adrenaline began to wear off. He fumbled up the last few steps, only to collapse again at the feet of Kenjatsu. "See? I told you. I promised you Kenjatsu."
And with that he let the potion drop at the Argonian's feet, the mysteirious bottle rolling towards him. He slipped into a deep sleep, maybe the last rest he shall ever take.

Kenjatsu quickly looked turned around and looked at the wood elf behind him. He rushed to the wood elf and quickly searched for a healing potion in which he had the wood elf drink the potion but made sure not to make the wood elf choke. Upon holding the wood elfs head up for him to drink the potion the invisability effect on Kenjatsu quickly wore off, which meant that the Mythic Dawn Agents would quickly spot him, but if they did he would be ready..

OOC: Never knew my character would be that importent :s By the way Taze, is your character wearing something that would give him the ability to see invisable characters? Mine drank an Invisable potion. But it ok :)

The Breton agreed.
"Yes, yes, you must travel to Weynon Priory immediately. About tho-"
He froze for a moment, hearing a noise outside of the room, but then resumed talking.
"I go now to Leywiin, to complete my mission. Farewell."
He walked over to the window, opened it, and leapt out into the inky darkness of the night.
The elf stayed seated for a moment, and then left the room.
Before Kenjatsu had time to react, he had already spotted him, but the elf did not look surprised in the slightest, and if he was, he was hiding it very well.
"Ah, Argonian. How pleasant to see you here!" He said with a sneer, his left arm stretching upwards, sparks of magicka running towards his fingertips.

OOC: I think so.

Kenjatsu looked back at the Dark Elf and grinned.. "I might be a murderer, but i heard what you said and i now know you work for the Mythic Dawn and you plan to attack both Weynon Priory and Layawiin. I could easily yell that out and alert everyone downstairs, so kill me if you must, but im sure everyone else will just tear you to shreds.." Kenjatsu said with a hiss. He looked down at the wood elf and gently layed him back down. Hopefully the potion works.. Kenjatsu thought to himself as he looked down at the wood elf. Then he turned his attention twords the Mythic Dawn agent and readyied his sword..

Suddenly, an enormous bolt of lightning soars through the air, going straight past Kenjatsu, and hits the Elf square in the chest.

"BANG ON TARGET!" yelled Arnandre, running onto the scene, closely followed by a Headless Zombie companion.
