"Sometime in the third century of the First Era.
The Ayleid's reign of the White Gold Tower is dashed to pieces, the Empire thrives under the leadership of Alessia.
Somewhere in the East of Cyrodiil near the boundaries to Resdayn or Black Marsh, Castle Ivellon is located. Being far off the beaten track and wholly unbeknown in the Empire despite its impressive extent, Ivellon perfectly served its purposes. Foes of the Empire, heretics and Ayleid prisoners of war, imprisoned in the dungeons of Ivellon, were tortured to death in the cruellest way - up to that very day when the castle has been abandoned for unknown reasons. Most of its buildings were demolished, the doorways to the dungeons have been sealed - it is said that all inhabitants, Alessia's soldiers included, have been encased inside.

Decayed, forsaken and forgotten, just one single, ramshackle watchtower testifies to the former torture chamber of the Empire - if ancient legends can be believed.
Driven by the rumor Alessia would have stashed and sealed the loot of the elven wars somewhere beneath the castle, adventurers were searching for the tower and dungeons with the asserted treasure - to no avail thus far. The majority of the few people who still know the histories about Ivellon dismiss them as they are: Ancient legends from bygone days, long ago and forgotten..."

'The Dungeons of Ivellon' is a quest- or adventure mod respectively for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
The player can expect a vast dungeon full of mysteries to be unraveled, secrets to be disclosed and dangers to be defied.

To start the adventure, search for the ancient book that countess Narina Carvain of Bruma preserves in her rooms.

Caution, the hidden dangers in the lower vaults are great and tremendous - by no means venture into the dungeons before you are at least level 20-25.

Main attraction of this mod is a complete, brand new tile set which the dungeons are made of; more precisely, it is an (almost) typical tile set of medieval vaults.

The dungeons are pitch black - torches or light spells are mandatory. However, there will be extinguished torches at the walls and drop-lights at the ceilings, that can be set on fire by means of activation or a well-aimed fire spell in order to illuminate the dark.
I don't recommend the use of infravision spells (the ability to see in the dark respectively), because it would break the ambience.
If you encounter difficulties solving the puzzles, you may have overlooked something - keep your eyes open and take a closer look, since more often than not the key proverbially lies straight before your nose.
Do not expect 'Oblivion as you got used to it', this means, you won't just run into the dungeons for 15 minutes and get out of it with tons of glittering stuff in the inventory. You rather want to take lots of time and torches to observe the dungeons thoroughly. If you search carefully then you will find hidden items and other tidbits. Level scaling or random drops do not exist. Each item and every enemy has its determined spot, every stat point of monsters is a fixed value. Of course you won't find any compass quest marks either.
Compatibility:
This mod should be compatible with all other currently (8/16/2007) available modifications and Plug-Ins, including mods like e.g. 'Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul' or the complete series of 'Unique Landscapes'.

Just wanted to congratulate you for what is possibly the best dungeon in the game. I entered with nothing more than some regular clothing, a torch, a steel blade and some good melee skills at level 25. After one hour I had found the full Ivellon battlesuit scattered in the first level, but still feared for my life at every step!
It was an awesome adventure, and I was sorry when it ended, because I kept wanting more. But I found out I had to return back later to the dungeon's deepness to get the very final reward from your mod, after searching for my old daedric battlesuit, some varla stones and... well, you know, it wasn't cheap, but I think it deserved it.

This mod is scaring me out of my shoes! It's pitch black and I entered with the Apostle's Robe which gives me a small band of light around me - not enough to see. The doors creak and I'm sure someone is behind me.. Scary!
Great Great Great Mod! Best Dungeon in the game.
Must get back to playing it!

Definitely one of the best quest/dungeon mods I've played. I'll return to it in 10/15 levels with my new character :D

I'm stuck.
Help?
Spoiler
The Drunk's diary told me to look under a big barrel in the cellar. I've looked under them all and found no switches.

Love this mod.

One problem though.

Whenever I try to summon a Holy Wine Barrel the game crashes. Any ideas on how to fix this?

WOW, incredible mod. Thanks for your hard work, definitely the coolest dungeon I've ever entered.

Could you please elaborate on the powers the crown will bestow if you keep it. Thanks again.

I guess you didn't install the patch?

Spoiler
It grants you some new spells:

1. summon reaper (iirc. after 5 days wearing the crown)
2. corpse devourer (after 12 days)
3. resurrect the remains of eaten corpses (after 30 devoured corpses)

Spoiler
I found a scroll that details the scepter's powers, and who to invoke them. To get to the scroll, you need to have made the Dwemer explosive thingamajiggy back on the first level. On the same level as Ivan's bones, there is a hole in the wall. Use the explosives here, and beyond is the scroll
... Beyond this, I don't know, as I didn't want to give what was requested.

Does anyone know how to access the door on the 2nd level? the one that says you need a matching key? also, does anyone know how to kill the imprisoned warrior? (Put him out of his misery)

P.S. I've made the explosives with an alchemy skill of 75

EDIT: nvm about the warrior, i figured it out.

i think i messed my game up. i started ivellon again (this is one of my all time favorite mods) awhile back and got as far as fighting the guy at the table. today i went back with an army but the portcullis wont open and i cant activate the wheel in the dining hall. its been awhile so i dont know if i activated it earlier or not. would it mess anything up if i just tlc through the gate.

nm.........i left behind alot of the ingredients and stuff so im just gonna start over. lets see how ivellon stands up to 5 level 60 warriors and mages muahahahahahahaha.

So, I've got 2 stages in my journal - the 2nd is saying to check out a certain fort to the east of the IC. I went there, cleared everything out but only found a blocked passage at the end - I could tcl through this big rock into a small corridor with a locked door..but I couldn't find any key to open the door.

I can't even remember how I started the mod,
Spoiler
activating the graveyard thing in the IC palace perhaps? hmm

what have I done wrong?

Is it just me, or are all the written portions of this quest (The book, the manuscript, tombstone etc...) empty? I have to use the walkthrough just so I can find out where to go.

Check the walkthrough linked to in the OP.

They are fine for me - and I can't remember seeing that problem mentioned before either. Might be connected to using small textures, perhaps, but that is just a guess.
