How does it look like "vanilla Morrowind'?

That's obviously an exaggeration, but the texture is surprisingly low res.

I don't see it.

You're not honestly going to say those flat studs look good? Look at the knives, look at the lines on his face. That armour is not up to the standard of other details in the picture.

In fact the chest portion looks better than the arms, on the same armour.

Looks fine to me. What's that light shining towards the right of the screen on the building? Looks like a torch didn't render?

Looks like it. Light source in code, moving flame not added yet.
It's just that after the claims of more detail from one piece armour, and the fantastic leathers in the demo, I don't think 3d studs are too much to ask, rather than a decal applied to the surface.

He definitely looks like a grizzled and mean dunmer, combine that with the raspy voice and it's like going back to Morrowind.
I like what they did to the ears as well. I'll admit that is an unsual hairstyle but I guess it's better than getting your hair in the way of your vision.
Also, dat dagger is sharp.

Obviously chosen to appeal to Morrowind fans, pity the studded armour looks like vanilla MW. Really jars with the detail on the face and weapons. Oh, and loving the gnarly eyebrows.

The armour looks better than Oblivions armour and Oblivions armour was alot better than Morrowinds armour.

Level of detail seems almost identical to Oblivion's and obviously they were exagerating.

Hopefully their skin is a little bit greyer and their eyes a little bit redder in game. I'm hoping this is just the character creation that changed it.

You seem not to get the concept of character design in the TES games.

There would be all sorts of skin color, different body weights, different facial part shapes and sizes, different hair styles and colors, different eyebrow styles, different facial hairs, different eye shapes, scars, and the lot...

Hopefully no two character would be alike, and a lot of variation would be between different members of the same rave.

Oh dear, looks like I inadvertently ruffled a few feathers. Ok, compared to the level of detail at other points in the picture, the 'painted on' detail of the arms of the armour look, in my opinion, as though they are unfinished, or from an earlier, less technically impressive game.

ok bear with me.. the face is obviously a huge improvement skyrim is by far superior but look at the screenshot in the OP.. the level of detail for clothes and armor is actually better on OB...look for yourself you can see thread lines as well as raised textures. Do you think the armor and clothes in skyrim still have to be polished or is that what they will look like?

Love it, no more fat-faced smurfs! :celebration:

Nice looking sky in the background, by the way.

Edit: It shouldn't have surprised me, with the dunmer looking so nice, that people would start complaining about the texture resolution on the armor instead.

At first I thought the new Dunmer looked a lot like an Asian (which was the only thing I kind of disliked; the facial detail is amazing), but now I like it even more. Vsions confirmed that it was because of the character creation it looked like that and that it can be changed.
Vsions surely made awesome work :)

The orcs and khajit have been revamped very well, now we know the same has been done with the dark elves, I wait with bated breath to see an Argonian :ooo:

I like the look, although I believe his eyes are like that because of the attack animation(Same thing happened in the Fallout games)
Weren't Dunmer inspired by several Asian cultures in the first place?

And I have to say, when I first looked at the screenshot I thought: "Is this modded Morrowind?" :P
