[WIP] The Eagle Has Landed

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:51 am

_THE EAGLE HAS LANDED_

You were born in 2258, the very same year when the Lone Wanderer was born in Jefferson Memorial. Your father is Captain Lucas Kaine, and your mother is Captain Chloe Kaine.
You, like every child born to the Enclave have one sole purpose: to serve your country, to serve your president and his goals. No questions asked. To restore America to what it
once was, to what it is meant to become again for the time to come.

You live the first ten years of your life being grown up by your parents and by the Enclave like any other child in Raven Rock. The next nine years will pass as well, until happens
something what will change everything in your life. When patrolling outside Raven Rock with your good friend Alexander Johnson, you'll hear a tragic radio message: "Raven Rock, this is Sgt. Moore reporting, we're detecting severe damage to the vertibird carrying Captain Kaine. We cannot establish communication. Rotors have recieved red damage, I repeat rotors of vertibird carrying Captain Kaine are at red damage level. Crash intimment, over!" A few seconds pass. "Raven Rock, Sgt. Moore reporting in, vertibird carrying Captain Kaine has disappeared over Paradise Falls. Possible hostiles in that area. Cannot contact Captain Kaine or the rest of his crew, over." You will leave your post to search your father.

Search for your father starts without any remarkable success. You will search through Paradise Falls, and recieve only minor information, telling you that your father is heading south, towards D.C. Where from there? Your only option is to ask the local ghoul population for info. And they are not going to just give it out. Helping ghouls? Hmm.. I'm pretty sure Uncle Eden wouldn't like that, now, would he? As ultimately you find out where your father went, things are getting hot. The Enclave has assaulted Jefferson Memorial, where this so-called "Purity Project" is being led from. Tragic death of your father and having to escape incoming Brotherhood assault, you will head into the wasteland. What now?

Events move on, and I shall not yet reveal what is going to happen next since it very much ruins the surprise. But as a hint, Colonel Autumn is not amused by the fact you have abandoned your post and according to him, betrayed the Enclave. Yet President Eden does see something in you. The Vial shall travel with you, and you with your squad are given an impossible mission: To assault Jefferson memorial, filled with Brotherhood ?lite knights and paladins.
The secrets of the Enclave are revealed with slow speed, yet everything will come clear to you. It's not just about water and politics. There is a difference between a ghoul and a feral. FEV does not knock people out temporarily. The Enclave is about following orders, but what happens when you are given the choice to elect your own destiny?

What this mod does?

+ Whole new Main Quest from the Enclave's point of view. Yours to be exact.
+ New NPCs
+ New armor and weapons
+ New locations
+ New, interesting sidequests
+ Will be completely compatible with your favourite mods, like FOOK, MMM and Enclave Commander.
+ Mod will be also a modders' resource when finished, so everyone can make their own plug-ins to run with the actual masterfile.

MOD PROGRESS:
Main Quest: 15%
Side Quests: 12%
Misc: 5%

I can't wait for this. Do you think you'll ever have a beta :D? ..maybe when it gets to 60% or something.

Been following this since the beginning, seems very good.
One suggestion though, is to make the radio message for dramatic, as to give more reason for the kid to go out and look for his Dad.

"Raven Rock, this is Sgt. Sounds good.

For now since I don't have the message I gotta use the "I'M FIRING MAH LAZER" clip I took from Youtube :hehe:

EDIT: I added your suggestion to the actual radio message. Although now in-game all I can hear is Leather Belt, Rick Astley and Firin Mah Lazor. Voice-acting that shall be our last goal before BETA.

_THE EAGLE HAS LANDED_

something what will change everything in your life. When patrolling outside Raven Rock with your good friend Alexander Johnson, you\'ll hear a tragic radio message: "Raven Rock, this
is Sgt. Moore reporting, vertibird carrying Captain Kaine has disappeared. Likely crashed. Last seen above Paradise Falls. I repeat, Vertibird carrying Captain Kaine has crashed near
Paradise Falls. Over." You will leave your post to search your father.

The following events are yet uncertain, but you will be messed in the war over the Purifier. As the fight goes on, you will eventually face not only your nemesis, the Lone Wanderer,
but also your friends, who see you as a traitor since you "escaped" and was "exposed to lethal doses of radiation" ergo you are nothing more than a wasteland scum. Of course, should you
follow the Enclave doctrine there, you will be allowed to return by no else than President Eden himself. But there are always alternatives..

MOD PROGRESS:
Main Quest: 10%
Side Quests: 0%
Misc: 5%

What has been done:

- First quest.
- The Lone Wanderer NPC.
- A few unique weapons/armor.

I'm quite suprised this developed into a WIP, but I'll be even more suprised if it actually advances toward a BETA, nonetheless, your progress is rewarded.

A question about the Lone Wanderer, do you think we could stop him from doing things that you have to do in the regular main quest?

Cool beans, it's looking out to be well made, and I wish I could help, but I don't know the slightest thing about modding(other than forge on Halo, and Far Cry Instinct's map maker)

Nah, it's a pre-war US Army propoganda poster. So it kind of makes sense, since the Enclave sees itself as the extension of the US government in post-apocalyptic times.

First quest works although its beginning and end are a bit bugged, and second quest's beginning works with console commands but as itself it's still crippled (stages are stuck due to problems with radio message) and I'm having issues with dialogues.

But I have connected the storyline to Paradise Falls. Two NPC's, first of which tells you who to ask about the V-Bird, and the actual guy himself who doesn't talk to you unless you prove yourself worthy (read: Complete "Strictly Bussiness")

Looking good so far, mate. It'll be interesting to see life from the other point of view. If you don't mind, I'd like to mess around with some ideas for dialogue, specifically the crash message, few other little things. With your permission of course. Other than that, I like the look of it so far and if you ever need voice talents in the later stages of development, then by all means, my services are available, simply shoot me a PM.

I'll be keeping an eye on your progress as it's looking promising.

The dialogues and messages are just shot on the paper since I focus on making this mod operational before going into the details; but I will allow experts to write again the mod. I lack imagination on that front.

Oh of course, I completely understand. Getting the mod working properly before all else is certainly the way to do it. I'll see what I can come up with in the writing department and offer some of the ideas here once I have them. I'm by no means an expert, but I can write, so it won't be too much hard work to come up with something.

No..This is a complete overhaul of the game..In a sense...Its an Alternate Main-story/start mod.

@Pistolero
If you need some dramatic voice acting for the radio transmission, I can try to work on that for you if you want.

Be ready when I need that writing, then ;)

So is this solely a Bad Karma mod?

Definately not. It's about having to do bad things for the sake of good, and ultimately you can undo your bad actions at the Purifier.
Strictly Bussiness will be the only evil thing that is necessary in this mod, too.

This is looking good. If I ever need a reason to buy Fallout 3 on the PC, this is it!
Do you have the quests planned out? Or are you doing it as you go along?
And do you need Fallout 3 to use the GECK?

Quests are becomming fairly easy to do, so as long as I got ideas, I can make quests.

And you don't need FO3 to use GECK, but the actions available will be drastically limited since you don't have access to game files.
