Mr. Burke - Tenpenny Tower

The robobrain finally arrives with Mr. Burke's drink; Just in time, as well, for the ever annoying Ms. Godwinson is getting on his last nerve.

"Ms. Godwinson, I suggest you watch your accusations and your tone, else risk a diplomatic incident; lest you desire something "evil and vile" to happen to that little Abby of yours," Burke smirks, taking a sip of his whiskey.

Chief Gomez; 101

I will need to know what sort of training is required to operate these suits of armour, and if it is beyond our capabibities (and it will be, I expect), would you be willing to provide us with the knowledge of it's use?

Colonel Autumn- Enclave of the United States

I would imagine it would be Mr. Gomez, the APA MKII is an advanced piece of equipment. However, I could send a officer to the vault in order to provide your security team with training in its use, in light of our recent agreements.

I thank the United States government for all it has done for the citizens of Vault 101.

I am interested to know if you are willing to go on a joint exploration with us, into the other known vaults in the DC area?

*Autumn's face takes on a solemn look*

I would highly advise against this Mr. Gomez, sir, our records indicate that most of the Vaults in the DC area were abandoned years ago. Their dark, collapsed, and confusing corridors no doubt harbor a multitude of hostiles.

"My point is that you discussing a so called "project raises concerns. Tenpenny Towers must be up to something and something suspicious. We are here to discuss the future of the Capital Wastleand. And I assure, making vague threats about the Abbey will not do anything. We are hidden, not even the Institute knows where we are. If you were to find us, I have 300 strong to defend our place from the likes of you.

We would not need a mercenary force, We of the Vault are well trained, and well outfitted. And now the Enclave has given us power armour, and the ability to get to places fast, (Vertibird). We would, however need care. Do your people have the patience to take it slow, if it turns out the Enclave's information is indeed correct.

"You are very intelligent Ashur, Yes we will pay the tax while cooperating with you. I will immediatley sen doctors and researcehrs with medical knowledge to assist you in curing TDC.

Ashur

"I wasn't always a King, Sister", Ashur said. "Long ago, in California...it seems like another life now...I was raised to be a scientist, scholar and a soldier in the Brotherhood of Steel. Just over twenty years ago, I accompanied Elder Lyons on his mission to Washington DC to investigate the rumors of mutants on the East Coast. They made it...for what good it did them, rest thier souls...I didn't. In the wake of the Scourge, I found myself left behind in a Toxic and irradiated hell-hole...alone. A family of scavengers, who had somehow survived the Trogs and cannibal gangs, took me in, and introduced me to others like them. As the only one of them who could fight, I became their leader. Together, we founded a settlement and begun the hard work of bringing Pittsburgh back to life. Against all odds I succeeded....and the cost has been horribly high...and I will let nothing or no-one jeopardize my City. If you can help my people with a cure, I will be eternally grateful, and can moderate my Regime. But know this...I will not tolerate any attempt to undermine my authority."

Colonel Autumn- Enclave of the United States

*Autumn turns to Ashur*

Of course, a long term solution would of course be preferable, provided the Pitt is willing to continue to supply the Enclave with the raw resources I specified earlier.

For the moment however, we will attempt to do our best to supply limited amounts of the water via vertibird. It will not be enough for the entirety of the Pitt I'm afraid.

"Any reasonable quantity would help", said Ashur. "I understand your concern regarding a purifier, but a pipeline is impractical due to both cost and security concerns...and the intensity of air operations necessary to supply the Pitt with a significant percentage of it's water needs will increase your maintenance costs dramatically. There is another way, however...we could work together on holding I-76 and I-270 open as a trade route between the Pitt and the Capital Wasteland. We have a similar arrangement with King Henry in Ronto."

"A member of the Brotherhood tell me more about them. II remember traveling through the Pitt as a Cartographer. I saw horrible things and i felt bad for the people livivng there. Thats when i wanted the Abbey to reach out to reach out to the others of the wasteland. Despite though, the Abbey was scared back then. They had the fear somone was going to steal our knowledge or destroy us. I eventually proved them wrong but introducing it to a small town near the border of Massachusetts. I helped them become self-sufficent and gave them the knowlege of farming, trade, and first aid. When the Elders saw this, they were no longer scared. Today, i still pass through that town once in a while saying hi to them. And what is the Scourge?

If you were to find us, I have 300 strong to defend our place from the likes of you."

Mr. Burke - Tenpenny Towers

Burke sighs with disapproval. "My, My, is the almighty Ms. Godwinson so angered by Tenpenny that she must assume that we are up to no good, and that our ways are not part of the future of the Capital Wasteland? Mr. Tenpenny has accomplished in twenty years what your so called "Abbey" won't accomplish for another hundred. His, and my, ideals are what will lead the Capital wasteland to a age of peace, production, and prosperity. And you must be kidding yourself If you think your measly 300 "Missionaries" can defend against the power of our combat-hardened troops,"

Burke takes a sip of his whiskey, rubbing his forehead. "Your presence is merely a blemish on the Capital Wasteland. Why you were invited to this meeting is beyond my comprehension; You hardly pose a threat to anyone, and while your knowledge of Religion may appease some of the other factions, Tenpenny Towers is not one of them. I suggest you silence yourself at once, before your idiotic verses become anymore bothersome, and let the real factions of the Capital Wasteland discuss actual matters, instead of nonfactual misjudgments and accusations,"

Burke exhales, gazing around the room after his outburst and taking note of Admiral Ganius comment.

So sly, are you Mr. Burke?

Attempting to threaten a peaceful group when your men would die from radroaches before exiting the Capital Wasteland?

I have heard rumors about Mr. Tenpenny's hatred of Megaton and I'll tell you, if anything happens to that town I will burn Tenpenny Tower to the ground and scatter the ashes, erasing it from existence.

Burke smirks, acknowledging Mr. Ganius's over-confidence in his own words.

"If you truly believe that our men would die from radroaches, then you haven't visited Tenpenny Tower in a while. Our expansion and income has allowed our Military might to increase greatly, especially with our borders now under constant danger; we only hire and train the best of the best. We also insure that all of our soldiers are well armed from our personal armory, and if you believe Rivet City's poor excuse for guards would be of any match for us, then you, my friend, are surely mistaken,"

After taking another swig from his whiskey, Burke orders a refill and pulls out a cigarette to help pass the time. "I hope you don't mind, Colonel," Burke states, lighting up.

"And I would like to know where your so-called "rumors" are coming from, because as of now, Mr.Tenpenny has nothing but adoration for the hardy people of Megaton who grew out of a simple spec on the horizon to a full on blotch," Burke remarks, smiling devilishly once more.

Colonel Autumn- Enclave of the United States

*Autumn takes a drink and ponders this proposition from Ashur. Certainly Ashur is correct with regards to the Enclave's cost in using Vertibirds constantly for the supply trips.*

An interesting concept Ashur, what would your plans be for providing adequate protection in a joint effort for the I-76 and I-270?

We would not need a mercenary force, We of the Vault are well trained, and well outfitted. And now the Enclave has given us power armour, and the ability to get to places fast, (Vertibird). If you are intent on delving into the dark depths of these Vaults Mr. Gomez, I would suggest great care be taken. I do hope your people Gomez *Autumn then turns his eyes to Miriam* and yours Sister Miriam, would be prepared for whatever you may find down there.

Mercs may come with nice guns and pretty armor but what they lack is any sort of drive besides some money. They also lack any sort of loyality. I could offer them a 50% raise from what you pay them and they'd all be here in Rivet City.

And poor excuse? When was the last time Tenpenny Tower's taken on fifty supermutants and killed them all without one casualty? When was the last time Tenpenny Tower even set foot in the DC ruins?

We are better trained and actually experienced unlike your prep boy gang.

Now, would you like to boast more on your mercenaries or would you prefer to let actions do the talking? We've got a bunch of men since the population increase and a lot of them are iching for combat. Taking down your men will be a simple excercise.

And everybody's heard the rumors of Tenpenny hating the working man, he despices all who do not have the luxury to live like him.

"Maybe if I thought your people had the wealth to offer up a 50% raise then I would be a little concerned; Truth is, you don't, and it shows in your tone. Your people may have food, but if you think you'll ever expand past that little fortified carrier of yours, you are surely mistaken.

And, speaking of loyalty, all of my men are hand-picked mercenaries with years of service in Tenpennies ever-growing army. They may sign-up for the money at first, but with the upgraded pay-roll, armor, and weapons, as well as the legally binding contract plus Chief Gustavo keeping them in line, these soldiers will fight to the death for Tenpenny. They fight for a society that offers them the leisure's of pre-war life and luxury, and if we must strike down challengers who think themselves better and wish to ruin our society, so be it.

I won't lie; Your carrier is fortress. It could handle siege for months, perhaps years. But that's time that me and Mr. Tenpenny's associate's have to spare; Our wealth will only continue to fund our troop effort while yours diminishes. A war would be costly for both sides; But its a cost that we can handle. Can you? Perhaps. But do you really wish to risk it? Well, Mr. Ganius?"

Mr. Burke takes a huff of his cigarette, then addresses Ms. Godwinson.

Colonel Augustus Autumn- Enclave of the United States

*Colonel Autumn swishes his glass of scotch around in his glass, his eyes affixed on Burke as he listens to what has been occuring between Ganius and Burke.*

*Autumn's voice resonates in his high-aristocratic southern accent*

"Mr. Burke, I sincerely hope you are not seriously considering an attack on either Megaton or Rivet City. These towns both have agreements with the Enclave of the United States for their continued protection. Should war occur in either of these areas, it would disrupt the Enclave's trade and occupation interests and I have no doubt President Eden would readily authorize a military strike against Tenpenny Tower. That would not leave you in a good position Mr. Burke."

*Autumn lowers his glass to the table and folds his hands in front of him*

"While I have respect for what Tenpenny has done in the way of progress for the area around Tenpenny Tower, you have my assurances that I would not hesitate to bomb the place off the face of the earth should Tenpenny Tower obstruct the Enclave in its mission and objectives. You may have adequate forces for the protection of your tower against the wasteland, but what would you do with Enclave Hellfire Squads breaking down your doors?"

"Do the Tepenny security forces believe they can match Enclave Special Operations Sigma Squad man-for-man?"

*An Enclave Hellfire Trooper stationed at one of the doors glares at Burke through his ominously glowing dark yellow colored helmet lenses and shifts his plasma rifle in his hand*

Mr. Burke takes a huff of his cigarette, then addresses Ms. Godwinson.

We can most certainly afford that. Do you know how much people are willing to pay for a small cup of water when living in a tent on the ruins of a ship? We're trying to keep business owners from exploiting people but with all of the increased prices taxes are increased aswell and we now have eleven times more money in our bank vault then ever before. We could afford to offer your mercenaries a raise but we'd rather work with people who aren't willing to send their soul to the devil.

Oh and, if you haven't noticed, we are expanding beyond the ship. We are making two blocks of the DC ruins a part of Rivet City with the help of the Enclave. Want to change that previous statement? When was the last time Tenpenny Tower expanded it's land or accomplished something great?

What do you mean 'legally binding' contract? There is no law in the wasteland, the only law is screw somebody over they can send somebody to screw you over but that's about it. And you'd be suprised to see where loyalties fall when somebody is waving a little extra cash then your current boss.

The reason I feel no fear over your threats at all is that you are all talk. All you do is go on and on about your 'superior armies' and their 'loyalties' to a guy with a pretty big wallet. Start telling them to do stuff like clearing out a few abandon buildings, see how much they like working for Tenpenny when they have to do actual work. And besides, your forces would quit before you finish marching them to Rivet City, you wouldn't even be able to get through DC.

War would cost us little but we could you everything so I suggest to stop rambling about your mercs and your single tower before you get yourself in a war.

Miriam Godwinson - Abbey of the Road
*Miriam was intrigued and wanted to know more*

Ashur

"The Brotherhood", replied Ashur, "is a monastic order founded by a group of Army soldiers in California just after the War. The goals were to preserve knowledge of Pre-War technology, and keep the more destructive ones out of the hands of the people around them so another Great War would not erupt. The goals were noble, I guess, but by my time the Order as a whole was obsessed with recovering the technology of the past, and ignoring the people around them unless they had something the Codex said they shouldn't...in which case it was taken away from them by force. But while they weren't paying attention, the world passed them by. Back in California, they are locked in a Death struggle with what is called the New California Republic. The last information I received was from a caravan that passed through my Realm two years ago, according to them the Brotherhood was basically under siege in thier strongholds. I could tell you much more, but it would take days." Ashur chuckled.

"The Scourge", Ashur continued, "was the dividing point between the Pitt as it was, and how it is now. We had started hearing the stories as we passed through Ohio, but seeing it for ourselves was a deep shock. The Pitt was a perverse den of depravity, where Raider gangs openly auctioned their captives off...as food...or threw them to the Trogs in gladiatorial games for their own amusemant. And those aren't the worst things I saw there. The only law was "might makes right". We'd seen a lot...but what went on here was too obscene to tolerate. So Elder Lyons proclaimed a Scourge, basically that the place was so irredeemably evil it had to be destroyed. After constructing a base camp for our baggage and followers, those of us that could be spared marched on Pittsburgh. At Dawn, we attacked the largest settlement. There was no negotiations, no call for surrender, we went in shooting and killed anyone who dared resist. Needless to say, they weren't any match for us. It took three days, but we broke the back of the Raider gangs that operated out of the Pitt...and killed thousands and thousands of Trogs. On the third day, several of the larger gangs made thier final stand in the old United States Steel mill, I was one of those sent in after them. I got caught in a explosion, and knocked out and buried under rubble. I woke up to find someone trying to strip off my suit. Once I realized it wasn't my Brothers trying to rescue me, I fought back and got free....only to discover I had broken the nose of a fourteen year old girl. Once I convinced her I was sorry and wouldn't attack her again, she took me to meet her family...part of one of the many groups of scavengers who hid to survive, only going out when it was absolutely necessary. From them, I learned I had been out two days, the others had grabbed every child with no mutations they could find and resumed thier march East. I was in no shape to chase after them...I was trapped. But I thought of the Mill...the first intact steel mill we'd ever seen outside the NCR, and I got to thinking. What if we could get it working again? How long can we keep living on the leftovers of the Old World? So I organized the scavengers, armed them with weapons taken from all the dead Raiders and showed them how to fight, and fortified the area around the Mill...on that foundation, the story of the Pitt as it is now began."

Mr. Burke - Tenpenny Tower

Godwinson.

"Your mouth continues to move, but yet I still don't seem to care. Do as you wish, Ms. Godwinson, but if you get involved in operations against Mr. Tenpenny and associate's, expect to be struck down like the rest of them,"
Miriam Godwinson - Abbey of the Road

Sister Miriam Godwinson - Abbey of the Road
"The Brotherhood seems noble until the part they hoarded technology *chuckle*. I must say, its noble of you helping out a devastated city. Continue your Lord Ashur. *Miriam gives a slight bow.
