The Eel

Have you considered the fact that that's an early build of the character creation? ^_^
I don't pay attention to anything from the early build of video games because they always end up changing more than you would expect later on in development

Obviously it's an old build, but they obviously created the archetypes with an actual "person" in mind, so it's likely that faces are still connected to the archetypes in some way.

Who really cares if there are eye bubbles where the mouth should be? It looks cool.... that's all that matters.

I think you guys are missing one point here.... Why does the mask have eyepieces on his mouth!

So he can see how his tongue views the world.

Who is he? We haven't really seen him in videos and he's not on Brink's website. So, who the hell is he? Can someone show a video or picture of him?

Watch the ready and able video and the eel pops up a couple of times, right at the end is a security heavy with red eel

Based on the vids, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWOJE2_Mz7k&feature=related in particular, you can see that the archetype, while including a basic clothing look in many cases, is directly attached to the base face and skin color as well.

he picks an archetype, then changes the skin color of said archetype. It's related to style and facial structure, not skin color

Base facial structure and base skin color. The full "archetype" has everything from the skin and face out to the clothes. When you first select the archetype it gives you a face with skin color, you can then change the skin color to your liking, but there appears to be a "starting point" from which you work.

Yes...but who is he really? On an emotional and personal level. Personally I see a burdened family man bent to make it for his children as he struggles with the will and dilemmas of an ever changing industrial world he tries so hard to fit into yet regretfully urns for closure in his own personal life with his father.

:spotted owl:

I do concur sir, I believe he is a troubled youth, ashamed of his criminal ways involving steampunk unicorns. Therefore he seeks redemption for the error in his ways by joining the arm of the law. This is represented by his mask, the eyeholes at the bottom represent portals into the depths of his relationship with his estranged uncle in law.

Yes, but you can change each individual feature about your character to a different archetype; your skin colour\face shape is not attached to your clothing. For example, my characters face can be The Look, his shirt can be The Shield, and his pants can be The Bug; along with other customizations of course.

Additionally, that video was a much earlier build of the game, so things could have radically changed.

That's what I'm saying. When you pick an archetype to start off with you're getting the whole deal; "The Look", "The Eel", "The Bug", are all characters that SD has detailed from top to bottom. So when I pick "The Look" I get the guy and all his stuff. In the end it more directly effects the face though (at least on the guys with faces, don't know what's under the Bug's mask), because you can change everything else after you've started playing, but his face is permanent.

Archetypes do come with a predetermined skin color, as well as his clothes. However, just like his clothes, it is completely changeable. So a White Warrior is possible, as well as a Black Sweat.

They're cameras. This is the future.

Unless we haven't developed new technology by then, but I doubt that.

Really? 3015 BC to 3000 BC doesn't seem like a long time. It's all relative.

Notice the difference in the speed of progression? They weren't creating new technologies at an exponential rate.
