The Elder Scroll

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:58 pm

Way, way back, someone (I can't remember who) attempted to anolyze the http://www.imperial-library.info/obbooks/elder_scroll.shtml we get to see in Oblivion. As far as I remember, their conclusions were that a. the central glyphs are arranged like the Thief constellation and that b. the 9 unencircled glyphs represent the Aedra and the 17 encircled glyphs represent the Dardea, with the extra glyph in each group belonging to Lorkhan.

Now, I was wondering, were these speculations refuted? Were they proven? Was anything added to those ideas?

there is nothing to refute really. there are 9 uncircled glyphs just like there are 8 aedra +talos(/shezar), and there are 17 circled ones just like there are 17 daedra (if you count sheo/jyg as separate). the connected glyphs indeed match up with the thief constellation. if i remember correctly, one of the starts is missing though. if you really try hard, you can get some of the other constellations to overlap (but its not anywhere as natural as with the thief, so i dont think it matters). i also did a study of the symbols in the background, determining their pattern of repetition, but that really has little (if any) lore significance.

There is no point of studing an elder-scroll: unless it start making you see visions of tamriel's past/present/future, and your eyesight starts failing. Otherwise, It is just a piece of paper

And I f you do, go to a hospital IMEDIATLY. And stop taking shrooms.

So if I were on shrooms, I could read an Elder Scroll and see the past, present and future of Nirn? Far out!

Do you think the Elder Council would be upset if you used one of the Elder Scrolls for toilet paper?

Your local factory probably has an industrial material that can make you feel like your evaporating...but it will be extremely painful.

I'm pretty sure they kill you if you even see one without being invited by the Moth priests, (In the great heist you pretend to be somebody who was invited)

But you're not listening to reason! When you gotta go, you gotta go. I don't care if it's a napkin or the most priceless elder scroll in existence. When you have a gofer poking its head out of the hole, you don't really think about what kind of paper you're using, even if it is one that can foresee the future.

although I personally said that speculation is useless, here is my own speculation:

The cicled glyphs are the Daedra.
The non circled glyphs above the map of the southern sky are the Aedra.
The glyphs behind the map are al the other Et'ada.
One half of the sky is Padomay, while the other is Anu. This includes having one Aedra (Talos/Lorkahan) on the Padomaic side, anlthough it also puts 9 1/2 deadra on the Anubic side. I'm assuming that the half is Seogorath, who is no longer bound to caos vs. control. I gues he's just pure insanity now.

Sheogorath still exists because the Shivering Isles still exist. The Prince is the realm and the realm is the Prince.

Also, in a way the CoC could become Sheogorath. Y'know, walk like him until he walks like you.
