Dragonborn: Isn't that Ysmir, Dragon of the North? Isn't the Septim line always refered to as Dragonborn. And the Nerevarine was also called Dragonborn because s/he came from the West.

Interesting....

Soooo excited! It's been too long since Oblivion!

I just really hope they make the character models/animations look great this time... It's the one thing that has always tarnished past Bethesda games.

Then again, I still loved Oblivion, so I'm sure I can deal with it...

i'm pretty sure the whole thing was a sort of state/stone carving coming to life. so the flames were made of stone :)

I thought it was his tongue...?

I'm super excited, don't get me wrong, but I'll need to see actual game content before I can really let loose. Right now, I'm still tempering my opinion until then.

Still, I'll let loose a bit: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :D

It never said that dragons were extinct for sure, plus you fight dragonlings in Daggerfell, it just said they vanished. Plus off all provences were dragons would be Skyrim makes the most sense, I mean it is a very isolated area plus dragons love deer and mountains (pretty much 98/100th of Skyrim are filled with either or both. Hell their main god is an evil Akatoshen dragon. Hell Akatosh himself is evil and many speculate he was the one who made Mehrunes Dagon do much of the things he did. Now if that were true then from the very begging all events in Daggerfell and Oblivion were caused by dragons. If you argue that Akatosh stopped Dagon, then you must not remember that Martin used Akatosh's power based on a pact between the Septims and the Divine not of Akatosh's will. Agian that is arguable sense the gods know all and Akatosh would have forseen Dagons defeat. Point being it is not agianst TES lore to fight dragons, and I don't think it will be a TES killer. And to all of you who think TES is heading down some generic RPG setting then at least wait until more info has been given before you voice your opinions. Not that it has been that bad.

True.

I just REALLY hope the world is diverse. Not all snow and cold and mountains.

Every single time i hear the theme in the trailer I start getting a little teary eyed. This is the most amazing day I've experienced in a long time.

I thought the symbol came from a mix of Akatosh and the Amulet of Kings (hence the dragon and diamond).

I am 90% sure I remember reading that the symbol of the Empire was created during Akavari rule, and when it ended, the Empire kept it. What inspired the symbol, I don't know.

I just hope the relative simplicity of the dragon threat doesn't override any potential ethical questions in the story.

I don't want TES to be a straightforward "dragons are bad - kill the dragons" story.

Still though, :ahhh:

Skyrim left the empire. Even Mede's spies fear that place.

Interesting...

Does it really have any connection to Akavir? I don't recall that. We don't even know if the game takes place after the Infernal City, or how long, even. We have that 200 year rumor, and that could have been plenty of time to conquer Skyrim, but I doubt the Infernal City would have existed at all if it didn't draw the background for TES V in some way. What do you think the trailer, including the symbol at the end, means?

Haha, so that GI 'History of the Elder Scrolls' section did have a purpose. Bring on the 'Elder Scrolls V' section. :P
What I'm most excited about is seeing screenshots of Skyrim - the location, that is. :celebration:

When is it going to be able for pre-order? D: D: D:

Imah instant pre-order this and start playing Arena for the first time, then Daggerfall, then Morrowind and expansions, Oblivion and expansions. Then Fallout 1 and Fallout 2, Fallout 3 and finally FNV.

By then, TESV will be out.

By the way, what was with the dragon's breath? It looked like it was made of solid matter, not fire, and it only extended X amount of feet from its throat. Looked kind of World of Warcraft-y.

I think the dragon and it's breath were supposed to be a part of the stone carving. It only moved about and such to give it a more dynamic feel.

I'm doing the same, only just with the TES games, and I started Arena a week ago tomorrow :)

Talk about good timing lol.

I do desperately need to replay Morrowind now that I am older and actually have the intellectual capacity and background knowledge of TES lore to understand why the heck I'm going from A to B.

I'd say TOYB has the best idea so far
'Dragon Born' sounds like it's obviously something to do with the same kind of prophecy as to what Talos was involved him (Wulfharth having tried to fufil the prophecy beforehand, but was blasted into ash). You'll also notice in the trailer the 'Dragon Born' has a dragon-like mouth with a tongue coming out of it, indicating the 'Dragon Born' can use the Thu'um, further connection with Talos/etc.

Hopefully they don't ignore the lore from Redguard regarding dragons (the only reliable lore we really have).

I wonder who the monks were supposed to be. Greybeards? Or were they just supposed to be extras that make the stage cool?
