The Elder Scrolls Chapter 2: Daggerfall. The best RPG ever m

I just love this game. The combination of the TES world with exciting CRPG gameplay makes it paradise for me.

For example I recently took a quest from a Daggerfall Tailor to assist in exterminating a Harpy infestation. I was tasked to kill atleast 4 Harpies, and aquire one Clan Leader feather as proof. So I enter the castle infested, kill a few werebeasts, but no harpies. So I decide to jump into the one area I didn't explore; a giant pit. inside I was attacked as soon as I landed by a harpy who hurt my level 3 Bard quite badly. I'm hectically rp'ing this character, so I mostly wear bard style apparel, example fancy leather boots (the clothes version), leather gloves, a tunic with chain shirt over it, a blue cloak, a pair of breeches. Weapons are a Ebony dagger inherited from the character's father, and a silver longbow. I kept trying to heal up but each time I was ambushed by more harpies. I ended up killing over ten of them while only getting hit twice. Eventually I got some rest and I'm moving on. With a almost completely broken dagger and hardly any health or spellpoints (I use levitation and slowfall aswell as a frostbite spell mostly) I continue to delve deeper into this HUGE dungeon in search of the Clan Leader. It will be a fine story to recite in a tavern once it's done.

I love this game.

I wouldn't say the best rpg ever made but Daggerfall does have features that make it stand apart from all other rpgs. Those huge dungeons require careful exploration which may take days (hours of real game time) to explore. And it's not just about maping a labyrinth. There are pit traps, undergound rivers and caves, trap doors, magically locked doors, teleportation doors which have more than one way to activate, levers and hidden switches which activate secret or move passages, mechanical elevator platforms, and other tricks.

Combat is always winnable. You simply persist until you make a safe area to rest. The chances for an hostile encounter depend om how many enemies are still alive and close to you in your vicinity. However sometimes you need to abandon a quest because you get diseased and since you are going to spend days in a dungeon it might end up killing you or at least debilitating you so much it's impossible to fight or cast spells.

Sometimes you may encounter monsters impossible to beat at lower levels like ancient lychs and ancient vampyres. The Daggerfall engine generates one of these monsters in a dungeon to give the player something to run away from. If you find one of these and you aren't level 20 or more, and your character build isn't exceptional at combat, then run away and try to find an alternative path. This is somehing that you don't find in many other games except perhaps roguelikes.
