The Elder Scrolls V 'General Discussion' Character

Post » Sat Aug 22, 2009 2:06 am

This is (in a way) a game of sorts that I'm hoping will bring forth some interesting discussion.

I thought it would be interesting to build a poll around creating a character that we as a community would create. In this topic we can discuss interesting background choices, character traits, and a personality that we would like to see in a character in TES V; and more specifically, one of our creation.

If this turns out to be something that the community enjoys, I thought it would be interesting to start building this character's back story in another thread once this one has reached a definitive majority vote on many of the subjects discussed. For instance, one poster might write a paragraph describing the scene or scenario, while the next poster might choose to build off of that by starting a conversation or conflict with another character in context of the previous post. In essence, creating one cohesive story built by all of us!

Commence creation!

For character types you should probably add an 'Other' option. As for me, I'll be playing a Nord Barbarian or Redguard Assassin first, not sure though.

My Imperial was arrested in Cyrodiil for drunk horse riding. After escaping and ending the Oblivion Crisis, he decided to explore Skyrim. He is now on the way to Skyrim (which will take approximately 11 months to arrive) and is discussing with other travellers with the same destination.

"What's new with you?"

I think the idea of an aged veteran Imperial from Cyrodiil toughing the harsh environment of Skyrim and conquering its quests would be very fitting.

I envisioned it as if you wanted a Nord Barbarian you'd want to choose a Human from Skyrim with combat as his main attribute. Then use the posts to get more into detail what you'd like him to do, see or act. Basically anything you find interesting.

On the other hand, I can always add an 'other' option if this is a prevailing suggestion.

I like that Idea as well, maybe cast out for some reason or another? Maybe he left because his company performed some sort of attrocity.

In Morrowind I played a Redguard Knight that was a pure warrior. Had a lot of fun following his rise to head of the non-magic guilds and the title of Nerevarine.

In Oblivion, I played a Breton "Templar" class that took advantage of their perks in magical and combat abilities. I was able to toss that character EVERYWHERE because of the loosened guild restrictions and ended up becoming head of everything. Very fun to play.

For Skyrim? I don't know. I might fall back to Breton or I may try and go something entirely different. Maybe play the native Nords and go light armor Barbarian, or perhaps I'll try a Dunmer stealth specialist. I can't tell yet. I'll have to wait and see how the gameplay turns out as Bethesda reveals more.

I've never played a beast race. Just no interest in them whatsoever, even in Oblivion. Stealth usually isn't my style, and magic wasn't my preference until Oblivion when I started to dabble in it.

I was much the same! My vote is our character in a warrior with a wicked gift for speech. Someone who asks questions before he attacks.

Mostly because that's how I always played!

Just realized that I probably should put a timer on this post. I'll close it tomorrow ( Dec 14, 2010) at Noon Mountain time. After that I'll see about making a first post in building this character's story!

He should be a 30-35 year old warrior-priest Breton from High Rock

Magic PAH it's only uses are to talk to beasts, part the storm or mess with the foe. I have no need for such tricks, I'll kill the beasts, endure the storm and my battle-cry is more than enough to loosen the bowels of any foe, I am a Nord, I am a Warrior

Sounds like an interesting character thus far, what are you thoughts on his current predicament? I'm partial to the outcast or MIA warrior lost during a battle where his company wiped out.

A 29 year old Nord warrior from Skyrim.
This could turn out to be interesting.

I was thinking a male Nordic Warrior that is around 30 or 35. He would wear a wolfs pelt on top of leather and metal plated armor.

I'd say a 30-35 year old Nord that was kicked out of Solstheim because of his aggressive behaviour towards the refugees.

I would love to play a orc but only if they made em more orcish, more a super mutant look then a green human with really messed up teeth and a stupid smile.

I'm actually quite surprised as to the majority being fairly clear-cut. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Personally, I've always been partial to Dark Elves. But Nords are awesome too!

Awesome! That's a good idea. Maybe he was contracted for such work and was set up? Maybe he's trying to find a way home.

A 27 year old Nord Barbarian, born and raised in Skyrim, till he was kidnapped by slavers at the age of 15.
After 2 years of prison in Elsweyr, he finally managed to escape his masters. Since then he traveled much of the known world, and fought by the Champion of Cyrodills side at the Battle of Bruma.
Finally he's returning home, to aid his country in it's darkest hour.

And sometime, my Dunmer assassin Zabamund will be paying the Nords a visit! :whistling:
