Oh yes Fallout Shelter I forgot about that.
Oh yes Fallout Shelter I forgot about that.
That's a lot of capital letters for someone whose purely speculating. They say a lot of contradictory things and are purposefully ambiguous because they want to keep their fan base on edge. It could be next year or it could be five to ten years away. No one knows, except Bethesda and they ain't saying, and everything everyone is saying here is pure 100% blue sky speculation.
The only difference is some of us are quite up front about the fact that they are guessing and others are passing their speculations off as factual statements.
To take that amount of time of what? Time off?
You can bet that you can actually count on a person to take 10 years or so off from that.
Chris Roberts did that he took off like 10 years from developing video games and went into the film industry and is now back to developing video games since 2012 with Star Citizen.
Oooo, wouldn't want to be "too old to play"!
I'm 69. I must seem "older than dirt" to you. Clue, my friend: 60 is not too old to play games.
The simple reality is that none of us is somehow "entitled" to another TES game. We come to expect things, as if the future is an orderly series of events that will march our way, but it doesn't work that way. There are a million things that could happen that would prevent us from ever seeing another game in this series, and the reality is that nobody would be harmed in any way, as a result.
You can't be deprived of something that doesn't yet exist, unless you let your mind make it so.
If Pete is right, and why would he lie about this, there are 2 major projects before TES VI. Two major projects will take at minimum 5 Years, it could be more. That is 5 years before they start working on TES VI in a major way. Lets say it takes another 3 years to get TEVI out, that is 8 more years and a total of 13 between games.
If Pete is lying and they are working on TES that is just as unacceptable as it taking another 5+ years to come out with TES VI.
So which is it? Either way makes no difference, both are unnaceptable.
People don't work for free in the United States. I don't think that is acceptable even in Bangladesh anymore.
I don't think much of the fanbase want a 10 year old game.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
You don't know how long these projects will take and you don't even know what "major" means. None of us do.
And unless you are relying on a different tweet than the one someone posted above, all Pete said was:
In this tweet, Pete said none of the things you are attributing to him. Perhaps you should cite the source for these statements you are attributing to Pete.
What glargg said. None of us have any entitlement to any future games Bethesda may or may not create any time soon or in the far distant future.
i find it funny some people take what PR guys say in the most literal sense possible.. its PR guys, the job is to use creativity in your wording to either hide or slightly hint at stuff the company may or may not be doing without coming right out and letting you know before they are ready to let you know... a PR guys role is not to clearly and directly tell us everything that is going on within a company..
I'm only 15 years from 60 and it's getting faster every day. However, at this rate you might be 70 before it comes out and hopefully you'll still be in good health to play the game.
Me personally, as a consumber I expect certain things from a gaming company that puts out quality products like TES, the best RPG in the market. I epxect a timely release of games, and 13 years between games isn't timely by any means in my opinion.
so what your saying is, because you like TES they should not be free to do what they want and make the games they want to make, and instead should only focus on making TES because its what you want?
thats.. some kind of logic i suppose..
games are an art form, and as with any art form the artist doesn't want to be known as "the guy who makes that one game", they want to be able to try new things and flex their creative muscles, and if they so should choose they are allowed.. we are not entitled to more TES games, and if they want to try a diversify in the games they make they have every right, they should not be obligated to focus on a single game series simply because it has fans..
Lets minus the Public Relations (PR) speak from Pete Hines.
They are pursuing new technologies to adopt faster than ever before.
Look at Virtual Reality (VR) it's not a huge success, but Todd Howard is pursuing it adding Virtual Reality (VR) support to Fallout 4.
Let that sink in for a moment and think about it.
Next is MicroSoft releasing the Xbox Scorpio for sale on Holidays 2017. Todd Howard in the Xbox Scorpio interview said they want to adopt newer technologies faster.
So I believe Starfield is the next video game to be released for sale in 2018 developed by Bethesda Game Studios with lots of opportunities to show what they kind of video games they can develop with newer technologies.
It all makes perfect sense to me.
If you are fine with waiting 13 year for a new TES game than by all means be happy. I'm not and I'm expressing my frustration and disappointment because I think it's unacceptable and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that way.
I'm sorry, but I have to assume that the statement was definitive and that Bethesda needs to be taken at its word.
They're telling us that ES6 won't be available for quite some time. They have other priorities, and big ones.
Far as I'm concerned, it means it could easily never happen.
I think it's likely that ES as a single player game is done. The 'Half Life 3' comment is probably the best description.
they have already said on several occasions that ESO won't stop the production of single player TES games
Sigh. The Elder Scrolls video games as a singleplayer video game are not done.
Bethesda Game Studios will continue to develop them with breaks and different video games in between.
I'm not going to jump onto that particular bandwagon, but I am going to treat ES6 as being nonexistent until it gets announced. There's absolutely no value in beating oneself up over a game that hasn't been offered for sale yet, and that's what I see a bunch of people doing.
I have a game collection of more than 200 games, some dating back to the mid-80s. I have plenty to keep me busy having fun, even if there's never another TES game made.
Would I like to see the continuation of the story? Yes. Would I like to play a new, fresh TES game? Yes. But I'm not going to lose any sleep waiting for it.
He didn't just say "a very long time", he also said "many years from now". Here:
"And we actually have two other large projects we’re also doing that are bigger than anything we’ve done. People will probably hear about those probably even before Elder Scrolls VI. And that’ll make sense many years from now."
So even with PR speak and what not, it's still going to be more than a few years. But it will come. Skyrim was too successful for them to just forget about TES now.
That doesn't mean a thing. For all we know he could be telling us that they intend to one game a year for three years and that we will understand why they chose to do this many years from now.
