The Elder Scrolls MMORPG

Post » Sat Nov 19, 2011 2:31 am

its not a case of IF its a case of WHEN :)
it will happen!

i believe they will still keep to an ES single player experience but i am 99% sure there will be an ES MMORPG soon!

True, ZenimaxOnline is probably making an ES MMORPG, they havent said anything about what they are making, but TES MMO seems most likely. Hopefully its not a piece of [censored]. If it is, it would kill the single player experience for me..

The Elder Scrolls are experienced best as a single player experience, I think. I am not against a MMO, but I am not personally asking for one.

NO - too many good games have been destroyed by going pay to win.
Deadlines always beat quality control and as a result games suffer.

There is enough MMOs already, and most of them fails. I dont want Beth team to waste their time to make an MMO when they could be making Fallout 4.

I would like an Elder Scrolls MMO, but for the love of god not the WoW model... Keep the gameplay more like Skyrim but with a better control customization scheme. And no set classes. And heavily moderated RP servers. And no horrible talent trees and hard trinity mechanics.

Yes sure, why not? It would push the MMO genre one step forward for sure. KOTOR was a great RPG and from the looks of it SWTOR will kick ass too.
Elder Scrolls MMO would fall like a nuclear bomb in the genre.

But i'll settle for a co-op and perhaps some Dungeon style DLCs...

do you guys want kungfu pandas in Elder Scrolls? :turned:

They jumped the shark on that one. But I suppose the blood elves need someone to look down on.

I would love to see a co-op mode in the next installment or perhaps as an expansion for this one.

Whereas I can see the appeal in this I would have to say no. I wouldn't mind a co-op feature in a later game though (being realistic I know it's not happening with Skyrim).
I enjoy MMOs but as other people have said you would lose the Elder Scrolls feel if they tried. They would have to curtail the affects of your actions much more, limiting the very freedom that makes this series so enthralling as to allow others to play the game as well as yourself. The pace at which people devour content would also force any companies involved to quickly abandon many aspects of the game in order to try and turn it into a repetitious treadmill to farm players for their subscription fees, as the investors in such a project would want to see a large and continous return.
Of course if you wanted to allow PvP to appease those that would like it you would, as someone else said, not be too far from the world of Mortal Online, and those asking for TES in an MMO form would probably not want to see their character lying dead on the floor (destiny be damned!) while another hero dances on their corpse shouting insults of nonsensical drivel.

The best parts of an MMO are also by far the worst, the people.

No.

Just no.

A large part of TES' charm is atmosphere...immersion. It would be ruined with a community like WoW, riddled with min/maxers, elitists, trolls.

I don't want to explore the world of Tamriel with kids shouting meme's, racism, sixism, and all around jackassery.

The world would be ruined and just a glorified chatroom where people can show off their epeen. Terrible.

There is just something about online games that bring the worst out of people.

That last sentence is so true.

If they stayed well away from the WoW model and made it very clear from the get-go, aiming exclusively at fans of The Elder Scrolls and open world RPGs in general instead of trying to grab every Tom, dike and Harry away from WoW, we would have a much better community. Add heavy moderation and and monthly, maybe even weekly, events held by GMs and you would have perfection!

When I want MMO I go and play Lord of the Rings Online - I have plenty of kinmates there that play Skyrim too and sometimes yes it would be good to be able to interact with others in a certain limited way (my partner was hollering over MSN last night about where to find a Mammoth Tusk and it would have been nice if I could have sent him one for example). I don't want to run into other players in TES though taking my ore nodes or stealing my kills/sweetrolls or making annoying emotes at me.

I also do not want flying horses. Ever.

Also no pandas.

Maybe a multiplayer mode like in Dark Souls would be cool. People play the game and can jump into your game (if you let them) to either help you or kill you.

Contrary to this popular belief less than 10% of MMO's actually fail. In fact even really really bad MMO's tend to survive despite the fact that no one plays them. So by player standards one might say "Warhmmer Online" has failed, but its simply not a fact.

The number of No's just redeemed my faith in TES players right here.

Nothing ruins immersion in a game like other people.

No no no no, the only online compomnent I would accept is some sort of co-op system. The MMORPG market is already saturated to hell with fantasy MMO's so it's not worth Bethesda spending all that money. We just need good single player RPG's without any online, not many obout nowadays now that ME also jumped on the online bandwagon.
