Why NOT? There are many who played only Oblivion and were very interested in the lore (many came to the Lore forums with questions). TES is very much so a world formed by its lore, and understanding at least SOME of this lore is a major part in understanding both the main storylines of the games and the world in general.
This.
When I first played Oblivion (it was my first TES game), I had no knowledge of the lore, of course. At that time it was just another fantasty game, nothing special. A lot didn't make sense, but I figured it was like most other fantasy games in that those things were left up in the air or generally went unexplained. However, once I did get far more into the lore, and had a far greater understanding of the TES universe, I found the game and any other game (I later went onto the others) far more interesting, for the events and everything else had much more significance.
And yeah, why not? If you don't have an interest in the lore,
don't read the Pocket Guide. As simple as that. Why should everyone who wants the guide and has interest in the lore not get it because there are a few fans who don't care? Don't care? Don't read it. You can very well just ignore it, quite simply.
For some reason, I have a sneaking suspicion that Glim won't be living much longer (probably killed by the dark force from the floating city, or some such reason to make the character want to go on a world saving quest).
I agree. It would give Annaig more solid motivation, and such an event would really hit home for her, I think. Going out on an adventure to save the world would be less of a child's dream, at that point. But who knows, we'll just have to wait and see, really.
