Everyone in the entire world get their fix before someone in Alaska. We diffidently need more huskys to pull that mail. I really want my book.

Well, we have trained orangutans at the central Public Library, so even if it's in the system it may be a long-ass time before I get mine, too, over here at my branch. Let's go skulk off and suffer our various cravings in silence until we get our respective copies.

But remember, Bethesda is just a business trying to make as much money as they can, which means appealing to the broadest demographic. There are more non-TES fans than there are TES fans. So that would explain why the book is the way it is, in my opinion; to appeal to people who don't know what it's about. I haven't bought it yet. I'll just borrow my friend's and read his.

You seem to have misread his post, read it again.

As for the novel, I bought it and I like reading it better from paper. In the last thread I mentioned reading from monitor, I don't like. So I am satisfied from the novel.

Bethesda is not EA with 10,000 DLC for one game. Bethesda is NOT money hungry. I can go on and on.

Every company is money-hungry. Some are just smarter and more consumer-friendly in how they go about solving that money-hunger. :P

But when a game company cares more about making money than making quality games that it becomes a problem.

A couple of questions regarding the novel.

1) When can I expect to see a plot summary on wikipedia?
2) Should I expect to see some sort of updated lore at the Imperial Library soon? Or somewhere else?

That's one of the things I am looking forward to with a paperback elderscrolls book. As nice and interesting as the in-game books are ( as well as the mountain of other things on TIL), I have almost burnt my eyes out reading them on several occasions. TES on paper could possibly be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I think I scare off every FedEx truck that passes by standing at the window and staring fixedly at it.

Although I expect the Infernal City release to be a low-key event, I didn't foresee it to be this low-key. Precisely zero gaming press had covered the release, not even RPG specialty sites.

What happened?

I have my library copy at the ready, and I plan on starting it in a few minutes.

It'll either be updated on TIL when the Librarians are done reading it or... well that depends really.

it appears not even a lot of bookstores are getting it. like i guessed earlier, bethseda probably thought this would appear to dedicated fans not people who are just "i love playing oblivion because it has cool graphics and it's like GTA!". Most of the people who would buy this already know about it. Just from being about 1/3 the way through the book, a casual reader or gamer would probably be turned off by the terminology and lore which I think Keyes, to my surprise, is able to blend well into the book.

Quick question about the book. Do any of the characters use spears or crossbows? Fight from horseback? Kill/become a werewolf?

I'm only half kidding.

I can't tell which half is the kidding part, so:

Spoiler
No, sort of (not necessarily horseback ;) ), and no.

Ye shall receive. and how!

Well, my last non-spoiler post for a while, therefore my last post in this thread for a while: I couldn't put it down. Loved it. As I assumed, it did straggle at first because of the switched mediums, but it mmore than made up for it with a simple fact:

Games are limited by budget, disk space, hardware, software, animation, frames per second and limitless other things. Only two things limit books: The imagination of the author (in this case, prodigious) and the imaginations of the readers.

Buy it.

Not too much related to the novels but after reading through the other thread a bit I really hope they will include something in the next game that will clear up what happened in the past instead of EXPECTING us to buy the books to understand that, after all there have been quite some changes. And it's not like you just missed those years (like in HalfLife 2 where it made sense that you new nothing and people didn't really fill you in), you're suposed to have lived in that world already. Even if not in that time you're supposed to know the history a bit.

I expect there to be several in-game books that would fill in players of TES:V. But yeah, I share your concern.

Well, I am of the belief that most who pay attention to the lore will try to read these books regardless because it's lore that interests them and these books will become a part of that lore. And those who don't pay attention to the lore and believe me there are many more of them, will not care if they read the books or not or if any of it makes sense to them.

So...to me at least, these books will just be a bit of extra stuff for those of us who tend to long for more tidbits of lore anyway.

Yea, maybe a short video on "What happened since the death of Uriel Septim" to fill us in.
I mean sure, there was no update from morrowind to oblivion but the games where largeley unconnected, the next one will probably be too but there have been some world changing events going on and that will pretty likely continue in the next novel.

BTW. i did notice one thing i once already mentioned, change in a fantasy world can apparantly only happen on EPIC scale and just not on a realistic level.
