The elder scrolls is over

Post » Tue Mar 22, 2011 4:57 pm

There are only 5 prophecies in the scroll and we covered them in 5 tes titles. now what?

I guess any future tes titles will be either minor events or prequels or something.

As long as they are a continued financial success, I'm sure they'll find a way around the lore.

Only five carved on some wall. There's plenty of actual scrolls.

Either a prequel or a game with the name Elder Scrolls but nothing to do with the 5 prophecies.

This was covered by another poster, so I won't take credit, but Oblivion was about the end of an Era, where Skyrim is about the transition into a new one.

If it's over then they'll think up another great RPG series. Bethesda is at the top of the RPG world.

By that logic, we already know the end of the game so we might not as well play it. My point is they are not going to disappoint everyone by making it so you fail in your quest and get all of the planet eaten and then that's the end of the series. Life will not just stop because the scrolls don't have any more prophecies.

There's five on a wall as they pertain to a very specific prophesy, but there are numerous Elder Scrolls full of other prophesies.

Plus, I don't even think what you said was right anyway. If I remember correctly, nobody even knows the number of scrolls that exist.

One chapter is over, but there's plenty of story left me thinks.

This is not the end of the Elder Scrolls as, aside from the obvious fact that because the current story arc is just ending (which means we'll get a new one)doesn't mean that the game series is over, there also hasn't been games in several provinces. Even mainland Morrowind could get a game, probably coupled with Black Marsh.

People also have to realize that so long as Bethesda is comitted, we'll see the Elder Scrolls becoming probably one of the longest running RPG series ever, if not the longest running ever, assuming Final Fantasy finally dies.

The scrolls and wall are pretty different from each other. As said, there is plenty of other scrolls.

The "Elder Scrolls" can barely be defined, which is probably for the better. BGS is more than capable of really taking this IP wherever they'd like, and to be quite honest, Skyrim is merely a new step for a new beginning. Not only is it wrapping up what TES was (Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion), but it's going forward into a new era, and more than likely showing us a side of TES that has never been seen before. Who knows what we will see next from TES, as BGS has more freedom to do whatever they like than ever before.

*sigh* The number of events that lead up to the return of Alduin on that wall are not the only Elder Scrolls. They are just the ones tied to that prophecy. Nobody knows how many there are and as long as this franchise makes money and Bethesda want's to continue making it they will.

I heard there were some hidden near a bridge! A bridge frequented by billy goats! And , an illiterate, nearsighted, underbridge dwelling creature.

Elder scrolls takes place in tamriel which bethesda has done a good job at turning into a living breathing world as real as our own. So it'd be like saying, Oh world war 2 is over, there is nothing else interesting in the world left to happen so I guess thats it? The developers aren't stupid or uncreative, when they want to play a new elder scrolls game, all they have to do is make one. No one will stop them.

Exactly. This is just one prophecy. TES is not over. That specific prophecy is.
I would be very surprised if that's it.
The Elder Scrolls is probably the fantasy/medieval RPG out there that has the greatest potential. Unless they totally screw up Skyrim, which I don't think they will, I'm pretty sure we'll see more TES games in the future.

Don't mistake the wall and the scrolls for the same ting - Elder Scrolls are many, and it's not even know if all of them are available in the library, or it there are some hidden once, that we don't yet know about. The five prophecies are tied to one big event, one big cycle and to the end of one era and beginning of the next. Who knows what is told in ES about the new era?
