The Elder Scrolls PS1 Game

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:32 pm

Was wondering here if anyone had ever gotten the chance to play The Elder Scrolls game for the PS1(Playstation) game. I came to these games after Morrowind and such, but upon digging around I once saw that there was a PS1 game available a very long time ago. Wondered if anyone here ever played it, and and what was that like. Like hen's teeth, I had heard it was extremely rare.

I don't know which game you are referring to. I don't think such a game exists, although Daggerfall looks like a PS1 game.

In fact it was so rare that it never got released.

There have never been an Elder Scrolls game for the PS1. ;)

Arena: PC
Daggerfall: PC
Battlespire: PC
Redguard: PC
Morrowind: PC & Xbox
Oblivion: PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

There are also the cellphone games.

Unless it was a bogus auction (thoroughly possible), I assure you I have seen this. It was a PS1 game in the typical plastic case, just said "The Elder Scrolls" and had the Playstation logotype on it. It went quite quickly and quite high in auction price, much like how Sea Dogs does now, or most pre-Morrowind games on auction. Hence my question here. Haven't seen anything like it.
Figured to ask those that have been following Bethesda items from the very beginning.

I've been a fan of the series since Daggerfall and purchased all games except the cellphones ones. I can assure you there are no PS1 Elder Scrolls title. :P
It might have been a fake disc inside or something.

The game would have been present on Bethesda's website in their Games section. :)

Cliffworms, is it possible to play Daggerfall with a Playstation controller(any Playstation controller from any generation)?

That is what I was perhaps thinking as well, since Bethesda only lists what was mentioned above themselves. I normally am apprehensive of WIKI's in general, due to the fact that there is something inherently complicated with an encyclopedia that anyone can edit (unless of course the actual rule of citing sources was strictly adhered to).

I have seen the auction, but never again because most Elders Scrolls Games pre-MW are fairly rare, even for the likes of Ebay.

Thanks again for the clarification everyone. Must have been either bogus, or something that was misidentified as a PS1 game.
Thoroughly possible as I said.

I don't remember if the old PS1 Game Cases had nomenclature on the case itself, but the art work could easilly be removed just like any DVD case. So, someone could have just put an Elder Scrolls game in the case, slid in the artwork from say Morrowind from the Xbox. Then someone else came along who knows nothing about games but likes to sell on Ebay and puts it up there as a PS1 game.

Or, they did in fact have the PC CD from one of the earlier releases. The artwork for those are availible in a reduced size on the web. The older titles from Daggerfall on back were in large Book sized boxes. So the reduced size is just about perfect to print off and put in a PS-1 game case sleeve.

There might have been a PS1 version of Redguard in the works that got canceled. This might be what you're thinking of.

I think the other games before Morrowind were inadequate for the playstation hence they remained on PC.
Good game play , very primitive on the graphics.
I remember a game called Kings field , its was flamin woeful.
Exhumed ( Powerslave in US) by lobotomy software was a brilliant game for the original playstation and i wasnt bettered until Morrowind was available
on Xbox.
FPS shooters began to spawn and rapidly improved , but know FP medieval or dungeon game was ever done properly for the consoles.
When i play i want the action in me damn face with my sword or spellcasting hand at the ready, 3rd person is totally useless for real life medieval reinactors.
