Each province has there own law, meaning if you murder in one province of Skyrim, another province won't care. The land of Skyrim is split because there is no real government due to civil war.

While we have seen the game played in quite a few events, few of us had any idea where everything happened in the game world. Bethesda has released a map of Skyrim to remedy that absence of knowledge, and with it we can speculate on where the events in the demos are localized.

The user “The World Eater” has been through his paces and has deduced where the demo happened as well as the general environment of the major regions. There is quite a bit of variety in environments, ranging from tundra, pine forests, fall forests and mountainsides as well as snowy barrows and seas.
The starting point of the demos and the areas that most appear in the trailers seems to be next to Riverwood next to the village Oakwood. The demo Todd Howard shows featuring the dragon fight is to the south of Whiterun.

Some other points of interest would be the Winterhold Mages Guild in the northeast of Skyrim and the Thieves Guild HQ over next to Riften to the southeast.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be release on 11.11.11 on the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

The map that "Bethesda released" has been around for months. It was fan made. Look in the bottom right corner and you can see who made it.

Here is a bigger version of the FAN MADE map:

The World Eater makes speculation map on the Skyrim forum, Gameranx writes news article about it, a thread is made on the Skyrim forum about said article. :D

And Gameranx really need to check their sources better, nowhere in The World Eaters thread was it stated that the fan-made basis map was official.

Most people don't seem to notice but The Reach on the left side looks like a giant glacier cracked in half, I can't wait to see what it looks like, its going to be awesome, and no screenshots of anywhere near that place have been shown yet.

That looks like the same map thats been floating around for months, nothing new.

"Game journalists" are fond of publishing any and all stuff they glean from these forums, and they don't always credit the source.

A recent magazine preview said it's home to Markarth, one of the "seven wonders" of Skyrim.

So... none of these are actually real? I feel more let down than when I realized I was out of sugar for my coffee this morning.
