ooc: Yeeeeeeeeeah, Havok, the RP coulda' just used a small bump, not a complete twist to the plot. I have to agree with Korroded, we have to slowly ease into situations like this, not just jump right into and hope everyone follows...

I'm trying to wrangle together Zelric and HK and get some shiz happenin' but bickering does nothing to help revive this. I'm going to see Terminator: Salvation right now, but if you're still like this when I get back, I will pull this car over and revoke your allowances. :P

Odeen nodded and timidly placed his hands around Karst, only to realize that he felt fur, not armor nor clothes, but just fur. Then, he realized just how decent Karst was at the moment. The Argonian unexpectedly broke the embrace, and turned the other way, walking quickly in the opposite direction. He stood, breathing heavily and dangerously. "I...I think it would be best if...i-if...you put your clothes on. Your armor, something..!" He stressed, immediately walking out of the room and shutting the door behind him.

I don't think I've ever been in the same room as a naked woman before...or hugged one...and I almost never hug anyone.. Odeen thought, leaning back against the wall before sliding down it to rest on the floor, distraught. "T-tell me when you're decent...so I can clean my my alchemi-al...alchemi..." He stuttered, and weakly continued quickly, forcing the words out. "J-just tell me!"

Karst smiled as she was hugged back in typical, nervous Odeen fashion. It hadn't occurred to her that her partial nudity would be bothersome to him, though it would have if she'd bothered to think about it. As he recoiled, she was confused a moment before he spoke. Instantly, she blushed. The Khajiit tried to reach out to her friend to reassure him, but he left the room in a hurry. Her ears drooped as she heard him call from the hallway.

"I.." Her intent was to reassure him when she opened her mouth, but Karst shortly found that the words to comfort Odeen would not come to her. Defeated, she simply sighed and looked down at the floor. As her body absorbed the hangover remedy, her mind cleared and she noticed that the white flannel pants she had worn to bed, at a glance, made her look naked. She smiled a little and walked to the door, snatching her other shirt from her pack on the way an pulling it on over her head. After smoothing it at her waist and hips, Karst opened the door gently and knelt by Odeen. She set her left hand on his arm and looked him in the face with a smile whilst pinching some of the material of her pants between her the fingers of her right.

"I wasn't totally naked.." She informed him gently, smiling wider as she tried not to laugh. Carefully, she embraced the Alchemist once more. Giggling softly in his ear, she added. "Sorry for forcing you to look at my midriff, though. You okay?"
_______
"Hm... Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I don't think the chances of him being alive are very good." William began, "I was there when Kvatch burned. It was a horrible mess, dead people all over the place, and daedra occupying even more. Nasty business. We managed to close the gate after some time, though, but Kvatch was pretty much burned to the ground by then."

The impact of this statement went entirely over her head for the moment and the mer simple rested her chin in her hand as she let him continue.

"Why were you looking for a white khajiit anyway? Was he a special craftsman of sorts?"

"Well, no, I don't think so. I heard he was a blacksmith there when he lived there, but.. I think they said he was a mercenary prior to that. I.." Finally, it hit her. "Wait a moment. You.. you said you closed the Gate at Kvatch? You're one of the Heroes of Kvatch, then, aren't you? What's a hero doing passed out on a table in a hole like this?" She'd leaned in as she said this, interested.

"'A hole like this?' You know, I can hear you!" Olav protested, arms crossed over his chest. Melanarde glared at him over her shoulder.

"Quit eavesdropping and shut up." She commanded, more gruffly than she usually spoke. She turned back to Will immediately. "Where are the others?" She asked.

Odeen hesitated to look at Karst, but after a moment's thought (and a bit of bravery), he met her eyes. "I am now..." He replied to her, and then quickly looked away again. "A-and it's fine. I pr-probably shouldn't have stayed in the room you were sleeping in anyway..." He said, taking the blame. After a sigh of relief, he stood up, heading into the room he and Karst had just come out of. "Now, if you'll excuse me...I'm going to clean up my little mess. Then I'll be right with you for...Breakfast? It is morning, right..?" The Argonian asked, a bit confused. With such a haphazard sleeping schedule, of course the workaholic of an alchemist would lose track of time.

Putting that little problem aside for now, he did as he said he was going to do, opening the main compartment of his pack to place the alchemical apparatus into the mobile leather storage. As he worked, his mind went blank. Odeen figured it wouldn't be best to dwell over seeing Karst half-naked like that. It's not like it bothered her, and he was glad it didn't. But when he really thought about it, it frightened him. She may just be hiding her discomfort, or she could have had her feelings hurt by his own reaction...

ooc: Oh, HK, where art thou?

ic: "I am now.." Odeen said after a moment, and Karst gave him another little hug. "A-and it's fine. I pr-probably shouldn't have stayed in the room you were sleeping in anyway.." Karst's ears twitched a bit as she pondered the plausibility of breaking the alchemist of his apologetic nervousness. It was cute in some ways, but it mostly just made her feel bad for him. When he got up, she followed him back in, seating herself on the bed, her tail flipped into her lap.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to clean up my little mess." He informed her, making her wonder if he'd even noticed her come in and sit on the bed. Her years as a thief left walking silently as natural as breathing, so she hadn't even noticed it herself. "..Then I'll be right with you for.. Breakfast? It is morning, right..?"

"Yeah, it's morning." Karst agreed gently. Pulling herself up farther onto the bed, she leaned against the wall hands on the bed at her sides. She watched Odeen work and wondered, yet again, what he was like before he lost his memory. Was the loss of a past the only thing that had changed? Or was the man who stood timidly before her something that had formed entirely after the fact?

I wonder if he had a family? A mom, a dad, siblings even? Or were they all gone before then? Karst looked down at her legs for a moment, then back at Odeen. I wonder what I'd be like if I woke up tomorrow with no memory of my past, my name, anything? At that, she sighed. Poor guy.. Maybe that's why he's so nervous; he's almost like a child growing up without parents. Getting used to the whole world all over again would be really tough..

Karst thought for a second on her last train of thought before looking to Odeen with a sad expression. And since he can't remember his parents.. that'd mean he can't remember any care and affection his parents might've given him. To have never been loved by anyone, that you could recall, must be pretty hard on a person. Again, it'd explain a lot.

Breaking herself from her thoughts of pity for her companion, she got up and walked to his side, setting her hands on his shoulders from behind. "How about we go into town to grab some grub? I hear there's some nice places to eat there, and I'm getting a bit tired of the Temple already. Just because I'm taking a break from all this stuff doesn't mean I want to be cooped up in here all the time." She offered, slipping her hands from his shoulders so she could hug him about the collar. "And if you still intend to keep me company while I'm resting, we ought to both get to know the layout of the town anyway. What d'ya say?"

OOC: Havok, stop being a tit and start RPing. If the people you're in with won't help you, dump them and find the rest of us. I'm going to lead William back to the original group, where I will find Adeth, who I will RP from now on, and get this going again. So if you're able to behave, Havok, I'd like to have you join us.

IC:
"Oh, that is one long story..." William mumbled, looking a tad awkward at the title he'd suddenly received. He'd never actually heard them mentioned as the heroes of Kvatch, but then again, he'd been away from civilization for so long, and been sulking in his own misery for even longer.

"I am a ranger, know the land. I was leading the party, but due to my brother being an ass, I had to leave them. When I returned... Well, everything had changed. People had died. People I held dear. I left them all. Adeth, Vivian, Karst, Se..." he said, before suddenly stopped dead, looking a tad puzzled. "You were looking for a white khajiit, weren't you? There were one I remember, one Karst. White Khajiit, decent enough sorts. Maybe she will know where your missing man is."

"Why did you need to meet this mercenary of yours in the first place?"

-

Adeth entered Bruma, sniffing in the aroma of town. Mostly smelled of muck, but the fresh mountain air seemed to quench some of the smell and gave the town of Bruma a different smell than the other towns in the region. Not that this was something Adeth usually noticed, but today was special. He could feel it in his soul. If he still had one. He shivered slightly in worry as he wondered whether he deserved one or not. There were so many things he'd do different if he could. So many decisions he'd change. Or rather, do. But nothing could change the past, no matter how much he wished for it. Nothing could make Selene any more alive. His hand fell down to her set of thieves tools, which he now carried in his belt.

This Captain was their target right now. Hopefully the other two knew where he would be, because Adeth sincerely didn't.

"Well, I.." The Altmer stopped herself and looked at the man before her. If she screwed up, she could get both herself and the man she was looking for killed. Seeing as she was trying to warn him of danger, it'd be a tad counterproductive.

This guy can't be Mythic Dawn, though. I saw the one that tried to kill Teegus, and this man surely doesn't seem similar at all. I can trust him. She reasoned. Leaning in closer, she explained her situation to the hungover man before her.

"You can't say a thing about this to anyone, Will. Not a damn thing, you hear? It could cost me and him our lives. There's this cult, called the Mythic Dawn, they follow Mehrunes Dagon. One of their men approached me a little while back and offered me a decent sum to assassinate this white Khajiit, and I accepted as I didn't know who they were at the time, or that my target was innocent. This guy, Zan'Tarre's his name, apparently led the Legion to one of their hideouts at one point. They lost a lot of men because of him and now they want him dead."

Mel paused to breathe and let her words sink in before going on.

"I intend to warn him of the danger he's in and, if I can, help him. These sick bastards are said to have been behind the Emperor's assassination, so any help I can offer in fighting them I'll offer gladly. I'm not sure about this 'Karst' girl, but I saw a little white-furred Khajiit girl in here earlier that left with.." She paused and laughed briefly at the absurdity of what she was about to say, "Well, she left with an Ordinator. What the hell he was doing here is beyond me but.. that's what I saw. Thought that maybe she might know the guy I'm looking for but never got a chance to talk to her. I know it'd be a longshot, but.. if you could take me to this Karst woman, I'd like to ask her a couple things."

William eyed Melanarde with great curiosity, before smiling. "I wouldn't really tell this to anyone, and especially not the mythic dawn. The Mythic Dawn are the funny cloaked daedric clad assassins who've tried to ruin some of our fun. By us, I mean the people you might call 'Heroes of Kvatch'." he noted.

Raising up, from his somewhat awkward sitting position, into what one might call a standing position (yet with the sudden paleness of his face, William probably should've kept seated), William looked over at Olaf, who still seemed oblivious to what words had been exchanged between the two of them. In his mind, however, the curious look of a white khajiit and an ordinator dancing on the winter ball wouldn't bleak. The whole absurdity of it all kept it in place. William shook his head, wondering if that might have been Karst.

"I'll take you to Karst, if I can still find her. I know just the place to look." William said, holding down a hand to Melanarde.

OOC: Yes, I'm still here, amazingly. I thought this was dead for a while, so it's good to see otherwise.

"You can't be serious."

Greg looked from the unconscious battlemage, to the one holding his head in annoyance, then back to Jeanne.

"I'm very serious, Gregory. You have no mission right now, and these men can hardly be bothered to take care of this after what they just went through, so I'm assigning it to you."

"But... But... But I don't even know what this artifact looks like! I don't know who did it or even what they might look like! I don't know where to even begin to look!"

Jeanne pulled him aside for a moment, away from the ears of the aggravated battlemage.

"Listen to me. You will go out there and find these people and get that item back. My reputation is on the line here! Those battlemages are going to go back to the Imperial City and file a request for an official investigation. You of all people should know that the Bruma Guild would not pass. No one ever passes their investigations. I worked hard and had to do a lot of favors for people in high places to get this position, and I'm not giving it up. So you go and find this artifact or I swear to the Nine Divines that I'll make sure you never find work in the Guild again. Do you hear me?"

"Very well then, but can you at least tell me anything that might help?"

"Well... One of the battlemages mentioned a man in a red robe, but that's all I can tell you."

"A red robe? Did the man say anything?"

"If he did, the battlemages aren't saying."

Greg sighed. He had a feeling he already knew the culprit, from his encounter yesterday. "Alright. I'll check some things out. No promises though."

Greg turned and walked out of the Guild. Jeanne had gone back to speaking with the battlemages, and everyone else was staying far away from the entire scene, so they wouldn't be any help. He walked down the street towards Castle Bruma. He hoped that Burd might be able to help him in some way, yet he had the horrible feeling that he'd be on his own here. He ignored everyone else in the streets at that time of day, just wanting to be done with the entire ordeal as quickly as possible so he could go back to reading. Then he remembered that his book had been destroyed yesterday. Oh dear.

After a short while of hurried walking, he entered the castle and headed straight for Burd's office. He stopped in front of it and knocked, then entered when he heard Burd's voice.

"What do you want, mage?"

"There was a break in at the Mage's Guild last night, two of our battlemages were knocked out, and something very important was stolen from them. I've been assigned to track down the culprits and retrieve the stolen item. Have you seen anyone suspicious lately, or more specifically, anyone dressed in a red robe? And if so, do you know where they might have gone?"

Greg felt very foolish asking those questions, considering that it was likely that he knew more about the Mythic Dawn than the guard captain did.

OOC: If you think so, Havok, but you don't need to post too often. We've just had some confusion now due to Adeth packing his stuff and leaving.
IC:
Somewhere in the keep, eh... Adeth thought for himself as they entered the main halls of the castle. He did not like this one bit, the whole idea of going to some authority figure, atleast not the guard commander of a town. Experience had told him to be wary around watchmen. For some reason they didn't like him poking about in stuff he wasn't supposed to know about. Hopefully Burd was a decent man, and even better; wouldn't recognise Adeth on sight for some petty theft he'd done long before he met the emperor. And his life got some of a meaning to it. No, he'd learned his lesson good enough.

Try never to steal unless you're in the guild he mused to himself, wondering if he'd ever get entry into the guild of thieves.

No matter how quick their walk from Cloud Ruler to Bruma might've been, fate didn't want them any better than let them wait outside of Burd's office for some time. A man was already in with him, by the sound of it. Whether or not polite, Adeth couldn't help but listen in on the conversation. Moving casually closer to the door, as if he were just shifting his weight, Adeth heard vague mentioning of men in red robes. This man could possibly be of value to them. Maybe he should ask him some questions before he left...

Melanarde had somehow forgotten about Tim in the brief time she'd been speaking to her new acquaintance, but as they both stood, she remembered and felt foolish. The Altmer also noticed William's face pale when he stood and immediately got Olav to sell her another loaf of bread and a glass of water. After paying the Nordic man, she kindly handed the food and water to Will with a slight smile.

"Here. Eat this and you'll feel better. The water will help, too." Mel offered, smoothing the wrinkles out of her skirt after setting the grub on the table. "I need to go grab somebody before I go. He'd hate it if I left him here."

A quick turn and Mel was heading upstairs, straight towards Tim's room. When she arrived, she cracked the door just an inch to look in and, seeing the boy sound asleep in his bed, smiled and walked in quiet as she could, closing the door behind her with a gentle thump of wood on wood. She knelt by the boy's bedside and set her hand on his shoulder.

"Wake up, dear." Again, she surprised herself with the manner in which she spoke around Tim. It sounded too motherly and sweet to be her own voice. Nonetheless, she gave a gentle shake to the shoulder in her grip to wake the young man. "Get up, Tim, we're going somewhere."

"You know nothing at all? Nothing that might even come close to helping me?"

"I'm sorry, but no. No one that I know has reported seeing a suspicious looking person in a red robe. I'll send some guards over to the Guild and perform a proper investigation. Maybe they'll turn something up. In the meantime, you'll probably have to find out any additional details on your own. Now get out of my office. I'm a very busy man."

Greg cursed under his breath, but did as he was told. He let the door slam behind him out of frustration. So, he'd be going out to find a definitely dangerous cult of insane Daedra worshipers, with nothing to go on besides the fact they wore red? What nonsense. But if I don't do this, my position in the Guild could be suspended, even revoked. Jeanne may not be very smart, or influential, but she has a lot of friends who are, and they'll make my life a hassle without a second thought.

"Oh dear."

He sighed and turned, then began to walk away, taking a brief glance at the people waiting to go in.

Tim was roused out of his slumber, he looked up urgently and would've attacked Meline had he not remembered her face - he was too used to living on the streets. "Uhh.. Sure.. Where?" he asked her, he stepped out of the bed, he was still fully clothed; he hadn't quite got used to the etiquettes of the upper class sleeping habits.

He enthusiastically pulled out a large rucksack made of some strong material Tim didn't know the name of, to it was strapped a medium sized wooden bow that looked in good condition and a quiver that was surprisingly full of arrows which had a white feather plume.

"The money you gave me bought these items, the arrow's aren't that great, the tips seem somewhat rusty and one of them even had blood on them, but they didn't have anything better in stock." He said, as if he was somewhat disappointed, "But I still think they're great." he added with a look of pride amongst his face as the once street scoundrel donned for his first adventure.

William munched on the bread as he watched Melanarde leaving. He felt rather stupid being fed by someone else. He was a grown man, able to handle himself, but apparently Mel's view of taking care of himself differed from his; whereas he'd just walk around without eating (and probably puking all day) she apparently didn't.

He also wondered who she was getting. Maybe some fierce warrior from the north, with symbols painted all over his body and wearing nothing but trousers and a necklace of teeth and bones. Warhammer or Axe? William wondered. He had to be like that. Who else would a mercenary travel with. For she was a mercenary. Or an assassin. He'd have to be careful with her, lest he'd wake up dead. Even how nice she was to him, she might just be waiting for the proper moment to pounce. Maybe after he'd proved his usefulness.

-

Adeth eyed the breton for a moment, wondering if it'd be worth it trying to speak with him. "Why are you looking for red robed men?" he asked the mage as he passed, wondering if it could indeed be the Mythic Dawn this man had met. Or had relations with. Maybe even he was in with them. Maybe the guard captain was in with them, and they were discussing their latest heist right now. Even though Jauffre had insisted on them seeing this Captain Burd, Adeth still had his doubts. He didn't like telling everyone and their neighbour about what they were doing, and chasing cultists inbetween officials wasn't exactly what a thief would call incognito. He had to see if the coast was clear first.

"Have you spoken with any in particular lately?" he added, not really worried if this seemed pretty strange.

Melanarde gave Tim's new gear a once-over and smiled. Certainly better than her first sword was, that was for sure. She patted him on the shoulder.

"I'm sure you'll be shooting the heads off of Daedra in no time." She assured him, though she added mentally, "Assuming you can find someone who can teach him, of course."

She made no mention of that technicality, however. Instead, she began to leave, glancing over her shoulder at him to answer his first question. "We're off to find someone I've been looking for. Or.. at least that's the plan. I found a guy to that might know where he is to take us."

A quick stop by her room and she was ready, sword at her hip and pack on her back. The elf gracefully descended the staircase and approached Will.

"Well, we're ready to go. Will, this is Tim. Tim, this is Will, the man I told you about. Now.." Mel turned her gaze and her attention to William. "Where are we off to, then?"

William watched as the elf descended the stairs, noting her actually accomplishing it with some grace. In pretty heavy armour. Impressive. William thought, as he pictured how he'd stumble down the stairs in armour. What he hadn't really expected, however, was what followed her. Or who, one might say.

"Tim?" William said, wanting to ask where the nordic warrior was, who William had just decided would use a warhammer. "Oh... Off to? Oh! Yeah, just let me gather my pack and we'll head out. I'll tell you of our destination just when we're away from curious ears." he added, with a lightning quick look at Olaf.

"Hi there, Tim." he added with a nod to the Imperial fellow, before nodding his head towards the door and walked rather quick out, waiting just outside the door.

Tim followed mel downstairs, he was curious about this man and this destination, but he was also extremely excited to be on a mission with Meline. When he saw the man, he nodded and said "Good day.", the man looked like the sort of guy that wouldn't approve of Tim's previous life and would probably have petitioned to have him removed from the streets.

Or maybe he was somewhat jealous that here stood before him a real adventurer. But Tim didn't care for that idea. He yawned quietly and decided just to follow along, he had only just woken up after all.

Gregory blinked and turned in confusion when the man waiting to see Captain Burd asked him a question he hadn't been expecting. He looked at him cautiously, trying to determine whether he should tell him or not, then just sighed in exasperation and ran his hands through his hair.

"Oh, yes I spoke with one recently. We had a wonderful little chat right up until the point where he incinerated himself. They don't take kindly to being taken prisoner, you understand. As for why, that's Mage's Guild business. Aw, but who am I kidding. I don't care about any of this rubbish. Some guy in a red robe broke in, knocked two battlemages silly, and then stole an artifact that I couldn't care less about. Now, if you know anything that might help me keep my job, it'd be much appreciated," Greg said in a very tired voice.

Right now he didn't care who he was talking to if it would make this whole experience shorter. If this was just some kid trying to be a punk though, he'd fry him with the worst fire spell he could think of. Between being forced into this task and having no book to read, he was in a very bad mood.

The mage looked stressed, and Adeth quickly wondered if he should play a kid trying to be a punk for a moment, just to get out of it all, but took one large breath and decided to have a decent chat with this man.

"Mythic Dawn" Adeth said, wondering if the name would ring any bells with the mage. Probably, since the the cultists seemed to shout that, along with loads of other bullocks when they attacked. Well, better to stay incognito, atleast hide the most important stuff.

"Me and my friends have killed a spy outside of Bruma. Red robed man. Mythic Dawn. Do you think it might be the very same? I heard rumours of another one somewhere in Bruma"

Greg eyed the man with a new look of curiosity in his eyes. Well isn't that something. This kid might just be able to get me out of this mess.

"The one I spoke to earlier was definitely Mythic Dawn," Greg said as he took the time to lean against the nearby wall. "I'm not sure if the one who broke into the Guild is really a cultist, but it seems likely. And if he's still here in Bruma somewhere, then I'm going to have to find him. My position in the Guild depends on it, and only the Gods know what I would do without it."

As Greg stared at the young man something occurred to him. "You said you and your friends? Who exactly are you to go traipsing around killing cultists?"

Adeth was somewhat alarmed at the mage's sudden barrage of questions. Maybe he was an agent of the mythic dawn, hell bent on their destruction. Or maybe he's just a mage from the mage's guild. Adeth told himself. He had to think now. He couldn't panic and streak off just because he might be wrong. He had to lead these people, and he had to be strong. Strong enough to dare and make a mistake.

"I'm Adeth, and my group has been contracted to root out these spies, these mythic dawn, out of Bruma. We were told to ask Captain Burd for advise, since we strongly suspect there are more than the two we've got." he told the mage, wondering if Captain Burd would actually have anything useful for them.
