The End of a Long Road

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 6:42 pm

First of all, I'd like to thank Bethesda Game Studios for helping us all get through this year of hellish anticipation and everyone on these forums for being so supportive and friendly.

It has been a long 11 months hasn't it? Since Skyrim was first announced at the Spike Video Game Awards last year I have been hotly anticipating it more than anything ever before. When it was announced, my heart soared, I was the happiest I'd been all year (2011 was a very crappy year for me) and I shrieked with anticipation to lose myself in Tamriel once more. I thought that the wait would be hell, but looking back, it really hasn't been that bad. Sure, we have all had to cope with Skyrim being dangled right in front of us being unable to reach it but over the year, we have all been carefully fed small nuggets of information that have kept us satisfied... for the most part anyway.

Now, I'd like to ask each and every one of you to look back over the past year and tell me what your personal high points and low points of Skyrim's development cycle were. The initial Announcement last December? The first real meaty chunks of info in the February edition of Game Informer? The E3 Demo?

Discuss to your hearts content my fellow Elder Scrollers! :foodndrink:

Wow the moment the forum dedicated to Skyrim itself... hell you couldn't keep me away! I think the forum user count hit at least 1000+. Those were the days! Good times ahead

I was amazed when it was announced. I love the e3 demo, the tweets from Pete, and the amount of anger on the forums thanks to no greaves, spears and the delay of the gameplay video was funny as hell.

Can't wait for the game release, been great reading our topics every day!

Frankly I for one will be staying away from the forums for a few weeks from release date due to the massive amount of spoilers that are sure to come.

Game Informer's early coverage of Skyrim was when my interest in the game was at it's peak.

I remember that well. xD We thought we couldn't make 300 days.

I coped by pushing the game to the back of my mind as I had other things to worry about (ie, passing that Pre-Cal class).

Can't believe it went that fast.

I have only joined the forums recently but i do remember watching them for quite some time, and seeing the people complain but true fans are patient....slighty.....and i have seen that these forums do however hold good forumers and not simply trolls...wonder where i last saw a troll...AH YES oblivion.....i believe that skyrim will be the best game of 2011-2018 when they hopefully make the next game, make it better then skyrim and it will most likely awake the trolls but all the true fans will be pleased. Anyways i have been waiting for the long days and months and for about 2 years when i first asked when the next game was gonna be.....so i am very eager to 11-11-11 to happen now.

Sincerely the darkest rage. http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/317863_129043523865791_100002804320380_98429_1968275199_n.jpg

It's kinda sad seeing all this coming to and end. I wished for TES 5 since I finished Oblivion in 2008 and were imaginin how far Beth had come.

I hope this is only the beginning though, I expect this forum to become alot more fun when the game is released

Anyone remember the "Drought" in August or something where people were going insane due to the lack of information? I remember threads like "What race would you like to eat the most?"and other creepy [censored].

I've loved my time on the forums. Well, at least most of it. It seemed like I was kind of an outcast when I first joined because everyone expected a lot of new people to come on the forums and be annoying, but I'd like to think I've earned the respect of everyone here. We might disagree with some things, I could easily name people that I almost always disagree with, but we can have mature discussions without being disrespectful, at least the regulars can. I know I've said this before, but I want to say it again. Thank you guys for the great discussions, the complete anolyzation of screenshots, the waiting for gameplay threads (That filled with spam, but still) and all of the long posts on the things we love and the things we don't love as much. These forums have helped me become a more logical person and help me respect people for their opinions. Thank you all, and I can't wait to see everyone in the Skyrim Forums and the "Future elder scrolls games" thread in a few months. :tes:

I look back at the moment i saw the Skyrim teaser for the first time. I then came here, and loved it. I'm not the kind of person who spends more than a month anticipating ANYTHING whatsoever, so i feel like this is a really special place, together with the best community i've ever seen.

At first I thought it was a load of bull [censored] back when it was first announced, having only heard from other people. But then I found the official news and then I basically didn't get -TOO- excited as it was quite a ways away.
