The End

I'm pretty sure that anyone who reads this is going to at least be familiar with the overarcing theme in Fallout, namely that

"War... War never changes."

So, I figure that some of you have come to the same conclusion that the Fallout universe will end a second time in something similar to the first- with lots of bombs and a big ass boom.
How do you figure it will come, or how it will be avoided?

Super-Super Mutants, and Followers of the Folowers of the Apocalypse?

I think humanity would have to surpass pre-war technology, or atleast match it, as they would need to make enough nukes again.

I think the Earth would probably just come apart at the equator.

I dotn see globalisation taking place in the Fallout Universe because of the lack of easily ewxplitable adn portable energy sources. SO I really doubt that another Nuclear Exchange is imminent, and if ti did occur I really believe that the world would be competely uninhabitable as you can only get nuked to hell so many times.

I dont see another war like THE GREAT WAR. Humanity SHOULD have learned from its mistakes and take them into account to prevent another. Eventually its gonna be at where it all goes back to normal...but thats will be a long time.

What were sort of seeing now is The Wastes coming out of a "Dark Ages" so to speak as we see more organizations and government coming into play.

In the end, I don't think everything will be brought completely back to normal. But over time NCR is gonna grab as much as it can and draw a line for a border on a map and become a nation. Same will probably happen with the other strong Wasteland powers of different countries.

And as time goes on, Violence decreases as the world just picks up the pieces. But War never changes.... and "War" will never end.

Read : A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller, JR.

The Enclave recommended it to me. Great Read.

I don t know Ace, when I found that ICBM in Ft. Constantine I spent hours, made new characters, tried things in different orders to try to get "Bagman" to make its delivery to China. I would have loved to pound China 200 years after the fact. A win one for the Gipper kind of thing. I was highly upset there was no way to launch that badboy.

I even looked on wiki.........

Aliens... They get tired of watching from above and either svck all the oxygen from the atmosphere and fly away, or pull a 2001:Space Odyssey and come down to teach humanity the tools and tricks to finally overcome it's never-ending attraction to war.

Aliens will invade and the fandom will complain. Then Bethesda will get the rights for Dr Who and stick him in there, and the fandom will plaster the walls of their basemants in their precious bodily fluids.

This is a reason I'd like Legion to win, after they've taken over USania then the series has no more games to make except the fall of the Legion and what's born out of it.

Other than Legion taking over USania then I don't think that the series can end.

I dont think there can rally be a satisfying ending to the story, can there?
O guess it could be said that Hunamity didnt deserve to live past the Great War and every9ting could be decimated, but thats a [censored] goal for the protagonist to work towards, isnt it?
Other end of the spectrum, can it really be tidied up in a neat litle package of happioly ever after?

If war never changes, that means it never ends. Cant really be a true ending to the saga. only to chapters.

I think it will be a civil war that will throw the wasteland back into the chaos it was before the NCR grew and took control of the lands. The NCR will fold like all great empires do and be brought to its knees
bringing about a new war that will ravage the wastelands and then a hero will be born to be the new Saviour of the Dammed

The story can end, but the story of mankind can go on much further.

If we were to tell the story of mankind, it would probably end on a happy note after world war ii.

I would like to see an "end game" for the series though. Something like that of either all of mankind slowly (or quickly) destroying itself, or similar to the ending of "The Postman".

The series "Jericho" had a lot of it right, at least I think so.

The root causes of war are basically quality of life, and scarcity of resources (which is the cause of low quality of life).
War will always exist until resources are no longer a problem, something that is completely improbable.

If you get down to the root sources of terrorism in the world right now, it basically comes down to low access to females (cause by large wealth disparities and polygamy). All of the rich guys get multiple wives, and the poor guys sometimes never get married. The rest of their life is [censored], so they have nothing to live for, they are the "have-nots". They see the rich countries on the TV getting all the things they want in life only irritates it, so the enemy becomes the "haves". We are not the cause, but it's usually the straw that broke the camel's back.

So basically, war will always exist, at least as long as their are beings intelligent enough to wage it. Simply put, it's an evolutionary trait, beneficial for survival in the wild.

Hell, all of the modern research suggests we are born with these tendencies, and that we are in fact BORN RACIST.

I think it'll end with another nuclear war, or a even stronger weapon.
