I believe roleplaying games began with a certain multiplayer game called Dungeons and Dragons. Unless of course I am horribly mistaken and that was a single player game.
The BEST part of roleplaying games is playing them with friends. You level characters together, build off each others' strength and weaknesses. It becomes a very intriguing social experience.
